The fourth instalment of this mix series. If you haven't got Soundcloud, you might have missed these mixes. But if you have, you should definitely follow Johnny Davison. He's got so many great mixes on his channel, but the focus today is on the fourth of his 'Classic Trance 50' series. And if you haven't read any of the previous reviews, let me quickly introduce you to the format. The mixes are roughly 5 hours long, and they contain 50 Trance anthems. Yes, I know that's a huge pill to swallow, a 5 hour mix, but if you are into lengthy mixes, this will certainly be one you'll enjoy!
Trance is awesome. I think I've said it many times, but it is the truth. Especially when I grew up. During my teenage years I fell in love with it, and it has been in my life ever since. And as I'm now at an age where I look back, I can consider the Millennium years the best years of Trance music. The current scene is OK, but noting can beat the early stuff. Not the early, early stuff, that's OK too, but the stuff around the Millennium, maybe up until 2010? The songs that are considered the classics, they are the best. And Johnny has picked yet another 50 of those amazing records.
He has made 11 Classic Trance mixes which are ridiculously long, and many more can be found on his channel, but it's the classic ones that move me the most. And his fourth one is filled with yet another 50 epic anthems. No cheesy stuff, but the good stuff. The songs you listened to when you went out with your mates. The ones during which you raised your hands so high up in the air, you nearly touched the sky. Those anthems. And there's 50 of them!

Yes! If I've not said this before in one of Johnny Davison's reviews, then I shall say it now: this is the Trance I grew up with. This is filled with anthems from my 'youth'. Wow, it makes me sound old, but I am 40....
This is from an era when I purchased a lot of albums, and it surpassed my favourite genre of all time by plays, which is Hardcore music. I played so much Trance, and still remember where I was when I heard the songs for the first time, and from which album they were from. Thanks for bringing back so many memories.
And the tracks are superb. Some big hitters in here, like 'Heaven Sent', 'Godspeed', 'No One On Earth', but the one that touches me the most, is the most beautiful anthem of that era: Kallocain'. What a beautiful and underrated anthem. They don't make them like they used to. This remix is just gorgeous.
It's yet another epic mix, and maybe Johnny might do a new one? Maybe a shorter one perhaps? As it's 5 hours long, it's quite the sit. But it's worth it. Trust me.
