The third instalment of Claxton's ''00s Vocal Power Anthems'' has arrived. Released last week, but still doing a lot of damage. And this is also probably the only mix series I've reviewed in sequential order. Each year you would get a Claxton mix, starting in 2022, and now in 2024, we have arrived to the third mix. 75 minutes of pure noughties vocal anthems from the glorious years of UK Hardcore, when my life was completely absorbed by this music style.
I do love me a bit of vocal focussed songs. Don't get me wrong: I do adore a no nonsense stomp anthem without vocals, to which I can stomp the night away, but the vocal anthems always give you a bit more. A bit more euphoric feeling, that's what it generates. It makes you feel good, happy, excited, etc. A range of emotions. And you know an anthem is f**king good when you are still singing it out loud, decades after its original release.
The noughties were amazing. I've said it a billion times, but it's the truth. No fake news here. I'm telling no porkies. And thousands of ravers do agree. Hence why we see mixes like this one being uploaded onto Soundcloud nearly daily. People miss the good old days, but thankfully we've got the option to go back in time. If we only close our eyes and hear these songs, we are back in the noughties. It might not work for you, but for me it works. Back at Skegness, raving the night away (yes, that sounds glamorous, but it is a cherished memory).

Wow. Claxton's selection is a fantastic one. He must have dug deep in his collection to find those hidden gems, which he has included, alongside the big hits, obviously.
This has put a smile on my face. So many epic vocal anthems, and they are all solid. Of course do we know all the big hits, but my focus lies with the lesser known anthems, the forgotten ones. There's a lot of them in here, which I've not heard in maybe 2 decades. How did he find these? Maybe that's why there's time between each of these mixes, for Claxton to search for awesome vocal anthems.
UKHC was awesome, and the vocal aspect of the genre is what grabbed my attention, and it hasn't let me go ever since. UKHC producers knew exactly how to make a blinding record, and those records are still highly recommended and requested.
Best record? 'True Love Revolution'. Completely forgot this track even existed. But thanks to Claxton I have fallen in love again. This is a big anthem. Love it.
