OK, second review of the day, and then I should start doing some chores. But I could not resist, a set by DJ Jedi, which took place last weekend in Fareham, at an event called Freedom 2 Dance. According to the flyer, the focus of this event was Oldskool, Jungle and Hardcore, and it was vinyl only. And Jedi recorded his set, which you can find on Soundcloud right now. And it's a bit one, as he picked some amazing classic anthems from back in the day. And I'm not lying. Just scroll down to the tracklist, and you'll see.
The first review of today was focussed on UKHC from around the Millennium, and now we are going further back in time, to the 90s. And those were some amazing years. That decade has truly been amazing for the raving community. Imagine a world without rave music, how miserable would that be? But we don't need to imagine, as it never happened. We lived through a decade in which rave became bigger, better, and bolder.
The set contains a lot of fantastic anthems from back in the day, and I bet they went down well, at Freedom 2 Dance. This would get the whistle crew onto the dancefloor, straight away. Hands in the air, singing along, raving along. And the songs played during this 51 minute long set are all classics, and loved by many, including yours truly.
This makes me happy. Even though the set is quite short, it still has power. It's filled with energy, and it has given the ravers enough power to rave the night away.

See, I told you that this set contains classics. I wasn't lying. DJ Jedi has picked some excellent tunes from back in the day, and the whistle crew must have loved it.
I remember most of these songs, and to me they haven't aged whatsoever. Timeless classics that are still loved and adored, and will be adored for generations to come. If these producers only knew how much of an impact these songs would have on future generations. Decades after their initial release they are still played, all over the world.
It's a brilliant set. Vinyl only, no MCs (well, only 2 seconds, but I'm guessing that was a recording mistake). Couldn't ask for more. Oh, and probably my favourite Happy Hardcore of all time, which is JDS' 'Higher Love', remixed by Slipmatt. It still makes me feel extremely happy whenever I hear this song, and I still sing along to it, whenever it comes on. What a blinding song.
Worth checking out, and if you like this, why not give DJ Jedi a follow on Soundcloud? He's got more sets like this one on his page. You'll thank me after.
