The other day I was scrolling through Facebook during my lunch break, and I saw this new mix being talked about. The mix was made by the legend himself, DJ Ruffneck. And how funny it is: I was listening to a Ruffneck interview the other day, and now I'm listening to a mix he made for Masters of Hardcore radio. A lot of things I am hearing lately is focussed around this Hardcore/Artcore legend. A pioneer, and definitely one who has received a lot of praise from the Hardcore community. Someone who puts a lot of effort in the scene, and has remained a definite force behind many productions. For this mix they asked him to dig up a few of the Millennium classics. And his list is as good as you would expect it to be.
Ruffneck made this mix, and it contains the records you were all waiting for. Some completely forgotten, but justified to be in such a mix. And of course he had to play a few of his own records. Who wouldn't do that? One of the first things you would do as a DJ/producer. But it's always nice to hear a mix with records you haven't heard in many years. And without a doubt he has selected records by the biggest names in the scene: Ophidian, Evil Activities, Angerfist, G-Town Madness, E-Noid-Dione, Amnesys, and more. A very interesting mix, judging it by looking at the tracklist alone.
The Millennium era was so magnificent. So damn good. The music became so much more civilised, much more my style. MOH were the main label I was focussing my attention on, and I bought many of their compilations. And it's nice to hear that Ruffneck played a few of those signature tunes for his set. They had a MOH sound to it. Don't know how else to describe it.
Now it's time for you to have a butchers at the tracklist. And it's a glorious thing to behold.

Yes mate. Just what I wanted to hear. Proper Millennium tracks. And a few obscure. None mainstream classics. Leave it up to Ruffneck to please the listeners. And bless him for uploading this set onto Soundcloud. Proper Millennium vibes here. I'm sitting in my living room with goosebumps. Can't believe these tracks are already classified as 'old'. Time has flown by.
He knows exactly what to play, and with this set he proves yet again that he's an amazing DJ and producer. But we already knew that, didn't we? His selection of anthems are solid as a rock, and they are mixed together beautifully.
Only love and appreciation for Ruffneck's latest mix. So many great anthems from a long lost decade. Music has changed slightly, but sometimes I wish we could go back in time. With this mix you are back in the early 2000s. And with one underrated anthem he has pleased me a lot: 'The Scorpion King'. What a beast of an anthem. You don't hear this one very often, but when you do, it blows the roof up!
Check it out, if you can find the time. You must, and you shall.
