Duck Sauce Presents: Duck Tape (2014)

The day after Valentine's day is always a weird day, right? The whole house smells of flowers, and chocolate wrappers are everywhere. Or chocolate residue. In my case I got sent the wrong flowers with the wrong card attached to it. But whatever's the case, you are currently still feeling the love from yesterday, so let's continue being happy and romantic. To improve your current mood, let's talk about Duck Sauce. You might know of their existence from their big hit 'Barbra Streisand', or 'Big Bad Wolf', or even 'It's You', or 'anYway'. Yeah, you know who I'm talking about, and not what I'm talking about, which is the actual sauce you pour over a duck.

I have to be honest with you all: I'm not a duck lover. Don't like to have Donald on my plate, or to have its sauce. Chicken? Fine. But no duck. But Duck Sauce on the other hand I can tolerate. I am a fan of Armand van Helden, from his early years until now. From his early work until his album 'Killing Puritans' (which was kind of revolutionary, with a chilling cover and fucked up encrypted text on the side and back of the album), to the present day music. A-Trak I'm not familiar with, but I do know that this combination works, this collaboration.

They obviously had huge success with the previously mentioned songs, and last year they uploaded their 'Duck Tape', which was released back in 2014. And it's an hour taken from their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from Oct-13. I used to listen to a lot of BBC Radio 1, and devoured a lot of Essential Mixes, but sadly missed this one. I had a craving for sexy house music the other day, and I came across this mix, and now I'm full into their Duck Tape.

Is it the best thing since sliced bread? Well, that's up to you to decide. But if you are looking for something quirky, and quacky, Duck Sauce have got your back!

This is a very sexy tracklist, and a very sexy mix. I'm not a House connoisseur, but I do know if a song is good or not. And Duck Sauce's mix, as weird as it might be, has a few very sexy House songs in it.

This is a very easy listening mix. Is it quirky too? Hell yeah. It's like they jump from one 'style' to the next, BPMs can be slightly different, but Duck Sauce don't care. They are having fun, and bringing the funk through your speakers. They do know how to bring the funk everywhere, and I'm enjoying myself a lot here.

There were a few songs in the mix which I wouldn't choose, but in a strange way they did fit this mix rather well. But on the other hand they did have a shit ton of great House anthems in here, one of them being 'Calamari'. If this song doesn't make you want to bust a groove (I'm trying to talk like hipsters, does it work well?), nothing will. What a catchy song. It's even catchier than 'Barbra Streisand'.

A good mix, and one you can enjoy during your working hours. This will give you enough energy to see the weekend come closer and closer by the second.

We need more Duck Sauce. Not duck sauce, but Duck Sauce!
