Essential Platinum. Don't know much about the label, if I'm brutally honest. I only associate it with Dougal and Gammer, but a quick look on Discogs shows me more information. So Essential Platinum was originally run by Dougal & Hixxy, and then it got ressurected by Dougal. But based upon hearing the tracks, I'm guessing this mix is focussed on the early Essential Platinum records. The early Happy Hardcore / UKHC anthems. At least it's something new for me to discover, eh?
Adrenalin made this mix, and it's an hour and a half, filled with early UKHC / Happy Hardcore anthems. Not something I grew up with, as I was mainly into European Happy Hardcore, but every so often a track made its way to the other side of the ocean. It's cool to hear records from that era sounding so similar yet so different. The UK and the rest of Europe had such a different view on Happy Hardcore, right?
As I've said in previous reviews, I only started listening to early UK HHC when it was already old. I've caught up on most records, but there's still a lot to listen to. This mix has got a few records I know and love, but the majority are unknown records. Dive into the deep, but with a smile on my face.
I will probably embarass myself by not knowing the majority of these records. Well, sorry about that. Blame it on me not being from the UK lol!

This is indeed a tracklist filled with records by artists I do recognise, but not know most of these songs. It's interesting, and it opens up a can of worms for me: I want to hear more now. More of the early UKHC.
The mix is tight. Adrenalin has done a wicked job. All vinyl, so you know you will get the cracks here and there, but that's just part of it. But he has done a really nice job in composing Essential Platinum into an hour and a half mix. Solid records, most of them...
But not 'The Key'. My God, can't stand the original, and this remix really doesn't do the original justice. Yeah, not my cup of tea.
What is my cup of tea is obviously the biggest anthem of all time. 'My Way'. That, to me, is one of the best early UKHC anthems ever made. Move over, 'Toytown', 'My Way' is here to stay, and take the number 1 spot.
