You don't need me to tell you who Bass-D is. But maybe you are unaware who is behind Eugenio? Well, they are both the same person. Obviously the Bass-D alias did grow over the years into this majestic name in the Hardcore scene, but before he became a national Hardcore treasure, he was into literally everything else. House? Check! And in 1992, as a young lad, he became the Dutch House DJ Mix Champion. That is 28 years ago, but he's still rocking strong.
But back in the days it was cool to become a winner. And the prizes were certainly awesome: as a winner he could mix a CD for this new compilation called 'Mix The House', released on EVA Records. How cool is that? It must have been an excellent feeling, to see and hear yourself on this CD that everyone can buy in the shops! And EVA was a cool label, that has released many wicked and underrated albums over the years. Sadly a defunct label now, but at least they are part of our history. And this CD, which consists of two discs, was a good indication where we would see Bass-D a few years onward.
On many CDs. That's what I meant to say. Don't know what happened to the alter ego Eugenio after this?? At least it gave us Bass-D, but not to talk ill about Bass-D. but I do like the Eugenio mix a lot. This is a very tight mix, and the records are certainly very hot anthems!
The second disc was mixed by DJ Kosmo and DJ Marque. Yeah, not really fussed about them, I am interested in Eugenio's mix. And the tracklist is a thing of beauty.

This is a wicked tracklist. A true House lover will get a hard-one from this tracklist. Yes, of course the mix contains the big dancefloor anthems, and maybe some are not really that exciting anymore due to radio overkill, but they are still part of our raving culture, and we should embrace them for what they have achieved.
Some of these tracks, boy, I have not heard in years! And a few for good reasons. I completely forgot about 'Poing', and even 'Dildo'. Not really great anthems, but I'm guessing they will be appreciated by me once I had a few beverages down my throat, and with me also being in a club, that would make it more authentic.
I wish I was old enough in 1992 to rave. I wish I could hear these tunes coming through the speakers towards me. Put my head in the bass bins, and absorb the movement that we call Rave.
Bass-D's mix is tight. Oh sorry, I meant Eugenio's mix. You could see that he was going to be a great mega mixer. The mix was only 35 minutes long, but he crammed 27 records in, including an intro and an outro. And make it all sound flawlessly. It would be cool if he could communicate with his younger self, to tell him what lies ahead. A bright future, with many raves and many places to see.
A fantastic mix. Worth checking out! Not without small errors, but still a fantastic mix. And it's got 'Stronger Than Steel'. Fucking wicked anthem!
