HTID Memories Part 1 Mixed by Ramos & Protocol (2024)

Hardcore Til I Die. A world known name. HTID. Who doesn't recognise the lady with the blue suit on, blond hair, and what appears to be wings. I have never been to a HTID event, but I've owned a few compilations, and even went to a rave wearing an HTID shirt. I do think I still own that shirt, but I've grown exponentially, so it doesn't fit me anymore. And based upon that, I don't wear it anymore. The angel would look more obese and her wings might look like airplane wings. If you do it justice, do it justice. And that's exactly what Ramos and Protocol have done.

These are two legends from the UKHC scene, and I bet you that they have played at a HTID event. Or maybe even more than one. Because, why wouldn't they? They have earned their places in the Hardcore scene, and they know a thing or two about UKHC. As I was informed the other day about this new mix, I had to jump on it and explore what was in store. And what's in store, is something beautiful.

HTID is something I grew up with. I don't know what has happened to the label, as according to Discogs it's been a bit quiet since 2013. It's a shame, but maybe they will come back one day, and dominate the UKHC scene again? I was always in love with what came out of the scene, and seeing that famous logo always brought a smile on my face. Again, I've never been to a HTID event (wish I did go), but you just knew the name, and its legacy.

But what is the legacy exactly, besides the legendary raves? It's the music. And the music is great. This is when I was in love with UKHC, and I couldn't care less if the people around me heard me: I was having a great time. And thanks to Ramos and Protocol do I walk around the house with a big ass smile on my face. Maybe you will do the same?

Fantastic looking tracklist! This did bring a smile on my face. Those classics, they are tremendously insane!

It brings me a lot of joy, hearing these anthems again. And the weird thing is, at one stage, we did not even consider them classics: they were just the norm at the time! They were classics in the making, but it didn't feel like that whatsoever. Times were different, they certainly were.

Ramos and Protocol together, on one mix. Couldn't ask for more. Well, I could, but my prayers would not be answered. The result is a 90 minute long mix with some heavy bangers. True HTID spirit throughout this mix, with tracks by some of the biggest names in the scene. And they are top quality anthems. Come on, they don't make them like they used to.

The memories these tracks generate, they are just insane. It was hard to pick a favourite, as I've had many over the years, and the majority are in this mix. I could pick my least favourite anthem, and there are two in this mix.

'Set You Free'. My God, I hear that song everywhere. And the original bugs me now. I can't hear it. And I'm not a fan of 'How Low'. Never liked the original, where the vocals came from.

But besides these two records, the other 18 are genuinely anthems made in Heaven. With the best one being 'Come Fly With Me'. If you disagree, that's your problem, not mine. What a smashing track that is. Slightly underrated though.

Can't wait for volume 2! More of these please!
