Let's boil it down, shall we? Born in the 80s, started listening to Hardcore back in 1992/1993, and 30 years later, I am still listening to it. But I'm more of a nostalgic kind of bloke: I much prefer Hardcore from the 90s and 00s. To me it means more, as it was the music I grew up with. And there's a plethora of mixes on Soundcloud, Mixcloud, YouTube and other platforms, that's for damn sure. And every opportunity I have, I have a stroll on any platform, checking if there's anything available for to listen to. And today I am revisiting my favourite list on Soundcloud, in which I save mixes I should listen to. One of those mixes I should have listened to a bit earlier, was KC's mix. But at least I'm writing about it right now, right?
Do I love the 90s or 00s more? That's always a difficult question to answer. Sometimes I do prefer the 90s, as Hardcore was new, fresh, and in its development phase. In the 00s it was already beyond the new phase, but was growing into this new form, this new thing, and that new thing I really appreciated. So yeah, it could be either, but today I'm into the Millennium sound.
KC's mix is called 'History Of Hardcore volume 1', and initially I thought the focus was on the early stuff, but that's not the case here. It's a bit of the old, and a bit of the 'newer' stuff.
It's still focussed on the harder side of Hardcore. Not the present day Uptempo/Frenchcore side, so thankfully it is a mix I will enjoy a lot. But the main question is: are the tracks good enough for me to listen to this 65 minute long mix? Is it visually appealing for me to hop on and give it a go?

It's a nice looking tracklist. Good tracks, that's for sure. KC has made an interesting mix with a lot of interesting tracks. It's focussed on a few artists, like Angerfist, Tommyknocker, Tha Playah, and Nosferatu, but it's till a solid mix though.
It is good to be reminded every so often how great the music was. And how quickly it has changed. A few tracks selected by KC are definitely my favourite anthems of all time, like 'Incoming', 'Still Nr.1', 'Drop It', etc. It really gives you enough energy to keep on going. And it might even give you some energy to go back in time, by searching for more mixes similar to this one.
But, I'm going to make a controversial statement, and you might like it or not, but my most favourite record in this mix is 'Stabwound'. Yes, a bit of Terror will suit me. I just felt like loving this track a bit more today. Sorry for those people thinking I would choose a standard Millennium Hardcore anthem.
A nice mix, a few tiny mixing errors, but still highly enjoyable. Get on this right now!
