During the 90s, there was one label I truly adored. Well, not only the 90s, but also during the Millennium years. That label was Arcade. I bought everything there was, and I must have spent a fortune on these albums. But I think it boils down to my first ever CD compilation being one that was released on Arcade (Yabba Dabba Dance Volume 1). One other CD I purchased back in the day, was Mysteryland 1994. And that's when the love for the Wizard grew, which later grew into this symbol (as you can see in the above picture).
I have and always will have a connection with ID&T. My first event was an ID&T event, and many have followed. And during the 90s, their Hardcore 'branch' was my way of living. I made drawings of the ID&T Wizard logo on everything. It became obsessive. When Hardcore underwent some slight changes (some might call it 'death'), I still continued being an ID&T fan, and made the transition to Trance music. They dominated the charts, and ID&T dominated the dance scene in its entirety.
I am not the only ID&T fan. There's a lot of us out there. And to this day do I go back in time, by listening to a lot of 'older' Trance albums. Especially the 2002 edition, as that was my first Sensation ever. And what an experience that was.
To me, ID&T means happiness. ID&T means satisfaction. ID&T means life. And the music released on their label became Trance classics. You'll see why in a second, if you scroll down to the tracklist.
Indecent Noise, who's behind the channel NOISETALGIA on Soundcloud, decided that for the 43rd edition of the successful podcast series, that an ode to this legendary label was needed. So, for an hour and a half, you get 22 amazing records from a long lost era of Trance music.

This tracklist takes me way back. And it's a list that makes me happy. I bought many compilations that included each anthem on it. Most of them (of course) being ID&T compilations. Can't go with the competitor, only go with the best of the best.
When Trance dominated the world, I still was in love with Hardcore, but Trance was just different. Different league. It spoke more to me than Hardcore ever did. It took me to a higher state of consciousness. And when you hear these anthems being played at a massive event, life could not get any better. Life only got worst the older you get (prices go up, your body can't compete with teenagers anymore, who dance for at least 12 hours). It's a time I look back at, with a lot of fond memories. And these songs are just classics, can we all agree.
Indecent Noise has selected 22 anthems, and most of them are great. But unfortunately the first one, Rank 1's 'Breathing', it was one of those tracks I never understood. This version was just pure garbage. Yes, I bought Rank 1's album and singles over the years, but this experimental stuff never caught on. And their version of 'Superstring' is great, but not the Deep Dub version.
But there are so many amazing records in here that I regularly listen to, even in 2024. Like 'Maximum Overdrive', 'Godd', 'Anglia', 'The Orange Theme', and the list goes on. Indecent Noise's list is great, but two of the tracks are still out of this world. 'Release Me' is such an underrated classic anthem, and 'Praiseworthy Tunes' is just a smash hit. If I hear either of these, I loose my mind.
A solid mix, and a nice tribute mix to a legendary label. Hopefully there will be a second volume of this mix, as ID&T had more releases (which might be slightly better), but for now, this instalment will do. And it certainly does the trick. But no more Dub stuff please.
