26 years ago! Can you believe it? Time has certainly flown by. The year in question? 1999. The year when Trance dominated my life, and took over my life. Hardcore was on its way out, and I had to replace it with something. And voila, there was Trance music. The genre that was slowly getting bigger since the early 90s, but 1999 was probably the biggest year for Trance. It was growing, and unstoppable. Trance was everything, and it became my life.
When 1999 hit, the songs that came out of the scene were epic. Little did they know, they were to be all-time classics. Still played in clubs and events all over the world. You cannot underestimate this glorious year, as it probably had the biggest anthems released in that year, compared to the year prior and since. Nothing can beat the records that were everywhere. They haven't left us, which is always a good thing.
You cannot imagine how many pennies and pounds I've spent around that time on Trance compilations. Not millions, but thousands though. I was (and still am) a music freak, so I purchased everything available on the market, and '99 was a great year for Trance. And I'm not the only one that agrees with that statement: Noisetalgia made this mix toward the end of last year, and all the records came from that glorifying year, the year before the Millennium... 1999.

Nothing can beat a tracklist like this one. My God, this is certainly a proper testimony to the year 1999, and how awesome the music was. They don't make anthems like they used to anymore. And that's 100% the truth. Name a tune that was made last year that has the same impact as any of the tunes above. 1999 was just a tremendously insane year, and I'm glad to have 'jumped ship', from Hardcore to Trance. I wouldn't know what I would have become, if I'd not discovered and embraced Trance around '98/'99.
I am not saying that Trance wasn't around before or after, but honestly speaking, '99 was probably the best year of them all. Those magical records created back then have stood the test of time. And Noisetalgia has done a great job. Of course he had to use '99 as his last mix of 2024. The selection is great, and the hour and 30 minutes fly by without you even knowing it.
Seriously, I am in a state of Trance now. This is my Heaven. Every track works. It is a brilliant selection by some of the finest producers out there. I cannot find a single flaw in this mix, nor within each record. Maybe the Moby song would not have been my 'go-to' song to remix or add in this selection, but it still rocks.
This mix might make you feel old. 26 years older. '99 was too damn long ago. Why does the world move forward? Why is time our enemy here? Stop reminiscing and let's try to discover a way to return back to this fantastic year....
