I love it. Going back in time, and hearing those classic anthems again. I love to reminisce and think about how life used to be, and what we listened to during those fantastic years. And back in the day, the early 90s, we listened to a lot of Rave. And when I say 'we', I am not talking about myself, as I was only 8-9 years old, and not ready for the world of music out there. I was still listening to Pop music. Rave music was something I had not discovered yet, and Rave would have a different meaning to me (Rave = European Hardcore/Gabber music). The UK kind of Hardcore/Rave music was something I only discovered later in life.
And I hate myself for not listening to it when it was hot. It would have been on 'my first Walkman' with some crappy, cheaply made cassettes, but I would have been slightly happier. Anyone that experienced the Rave culture in its heyday, they always seem to talk about it, with a twinkle in their eyes, and a certain happiness. Rave brings out the best in us all.
Mickey Beam's latest mix contains records from 1992/1993, and some newer anthems too. A mixture of 'old' and new. He has been giving us many awesome mixes over the years, and his latest one is yet another epic one. He goes back in time, and has picked some heavy hitters. Proper Hardcore, Rave, Breakbeat, Jungle anthems.
Once you look at the tracklist, I know that twinkle in your eyes will appear, and you will smile from ear to ear. This is happiness in its purest form. The classics, that's for damn sure!

A lovely collection of records. This has put a smile on my face. And if you were around when the 90s were in full effect, you will love it even more. Just close your eyes and go back to the 90s.
It's yet another epic mix. It feels like a walk in the park, right? You know a Mickey Beam mix is going to be great, and with records like these 26, you know it's going to be great. And it starts with a brilliant record, and hit after hit follows. And ends with a smashing hit by the Prodigy. Couldn't ask for more, right?
When it comes to Rave music, I do like it when it's slightly rougher and tougher. A bit rough around the edges. Of course a beautiful and harmonic track can still make me happy, but if it's rough, that's when it becomes a classic to me. And there's a mixture of that in this mix.
Best record? Oh, difficult. But I've got a few: 'Dance In Eden', 'Don Gorgon Sound', 'Ruff!!!', and of course 'Ephemerol'. Those are the best in this mix. Would you agree?
It's yet another amazing and gorgeous sounding mix by Mickey Beam. I hope there will be more soon, as I crave for more like this one. More and more. Never stop reliving the past, and bringing it back to us all. We need a bit of the early stuff, the oldschool sound!
