Oldschool BZRK Records Compilation Mix by Dj Djero (2013)

Saturday has come, time for some Hardcore. And only recently did I do a review of a mix done by DJ Djero. And only after browsing his YouTube channel did I find other mixes dedicated to other labels, such as Brrr Records, Coolman Records, Bad Vibes Records, Waxweazle Records, K.N.O.R. Records, and many more. Today's mix is the one focussed on BZRK Records, which was created by the legendary DJ Buzz Fuzz back in the mid 90s. This label had the biggest hits, and I'm not kidding. The first release was maybe the labels biggest hit: 'XTC Love' by Bertocucci Feranzano, a.k.a. Buzz Fuzz.. remember that hit?

I was a huge sucker for the label and the music released on it. And the songs were released on many compilations. Buzz Fuzz's label dominated during the 90s and early 2000s. And even though it had the ugliest logo (don't even know what it represents, to be fair), it had the dopest hits. And DJ Djero's selection contains a handful of them, in a nice short mix.

The label has been a significant influence to many, and during the glorious 90s it released hit after hit. It's been such a stable force, and we should be grateful that Buzz Fuzz got the opportunity to create his 'own' label under the ID&T umbrella. The hits... you cannot describe it. It was the go-to label. If you wanted the coolest Hardcore/Happy Hardcore records, BZRK was the place to be. If you go to Discogs, you will see the whole catalogue, and it will astonish you. Most songs, and I do mean most, are all time classics now. And can you play a set without playing at least one BZRK record in it? No, you can't.

Buzz Fuzz was (and still is) the GOAT. Be it part of a team, duo, or own his own, he made things happen, and gave us memorable anthems we still love to this day. And 13 of them have made it into this mix. You are probably desperate to find out which ones Djero used?

Just be warned, in case you might have underlying medical issues: if you watch the video, it might create seizures. When I watched it for the first time, it freaked me out, and I wasn't ready. Some might be able to handle, and some don't. Just be aware. You can listen to this mix, but make sure you do not watch the video, as it might be seizure inducing.

But the tracks itself are glorious. And just remember, and if my knowledge is correct, Angerfist's first release was on this label. We would still have him being one of the greatest producers of all time, but everything is linked to BZRK Records.

It also creates this big question I've got: what has happened to those big names? What happened to Public Domain (remember their Thunderdome 97 set? Big set!), Jeremy, where did he go to? E-Rick & Tactic, why did they disappear? Wasting Program? Anyone heard from them?

The tracks are solid as a rock. A few stand out for me. But the one that took me by surprise was Public Domain's record. What a timeless masterpiece of a record!

The mix itself has got some issues here and there. It ain't as smooth as you want it to be, but you have to give him credit for trying, and for making sure those underrated labels are left in people's memories, and are kept alive. They deserve so much more appreciation for what they've done...
