Quosh Vocal Mix (29.09.24)

Saturday has come, and it's a bit chilly. I need something to keep me warm and entertained. Soundcloud is the place to be, my source of happiness. And today I am sharing with you all a mix, which is focussed on the mighty label Quosh Records. A few years ago I did review a mix made by Alex Threat, which was also focussed on this label, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Time has flown by since that review, and now I can share with you all a brand spanking new mix, which focusses on the vocal side of Quosh Records and its sister labels. I didn't even know it had any additional labels, sister labels. Let me quickly go on Discogs....

Oh no, wait. I did know that. I just forgot the names of the sublabels. What I do know, is that Quosh was such a tremendously insane label, with a lot of amazing releases. Up until 2013 the label released amazing anthems, and without digging too much into what happened around that year, it is now a defunct label, with a rich catalogue. A catalogue that many other labels would be jealous off.

Alex Threat made an hour and a half long mix, full of those golden anthems. You will know them all, and you'll be amazed how well they stood the test of time. UKHC might have progressed into this new sound/style, but we still miss and crave the early sound. The sound that we loved, was shaped by Quosh Records.

I am still in love with the records. The majority of records, to be fair. They had some weird records too, which we won't discuss as I really don't like them, but thankfully they aren't in this mix.

  23. Chris Unknown & Re-Con - If You Surrender

23 amazing records. A good selection by Alex Threat. This brings a smile on my face. So many memorable anthems from back in the day. I went onto Discogs to found some information regarding the label and sublabels, and I was a tad afraid to find out how 'old' some of these records are. My God, it only feels like yesterday, when they were released. Time has flown by, hasn't it?

The label and sublabels have released some tremendous anthems, and they still are highly entertaining anthems. The vocal anthems were just much better than everything else, right? The Quosh records are still played everywhere, and I'm glad that they are, as I'm quite fond of them. And of course I have to pick a favourite, but I choose two, as they were probably the biggest anthems of a generation, and still two of the finest produced records ever....

'Bring Me Round To Love', and 'Do We Have To Say Goodbye'. Seriously, can you imagine going to a rave and NOT hear these songs, or buy compilations and these songs NOT being on them? No, that world does not exist. They were everywhere, and to this day are they still one of the finest anthems ever created. They still demolish dancefloors and eardrums.

A solid mix. A few mixing 'errors' (transitions not as smooth as you want them to be), but still a highly entertaining mix, with a glimpse into the past. The past, when Quosh ruled the world. Can you believe it more than 10 years ago now? I can't.
