A couple of weeks ago, I found a mix dedicated to Ruffneck. And now, as faith intervened, I am to listen to yet another Ruffneck appreciation mix, but this time it's one made by Jason S, the legendary megamix master. He's made so many megamixes, and even though this one isn't the most recent mix he's made, it is certainly an interesting Soundcloud page to follow. So much for everyone, go and have a look. But in the meantime, why not check out this excellent megamix, which contains the classic Ruffneck anthems.
This is certainly a mix that should be repeated every so often. Or even replayed over and over every single day. I am a Ruffneck fan, and the label has had some excellent releases over the years. So many are obviously Ruffneck's own records, but they also had a few by other artists. And as it's a Ruffneck mix, it obviously has that Ruffneck sound that I grew up listening to. So distinctively Ruffneck. You could tell it was one of those records if it had that unique sound.
I adore that sound. Ruffneck has had a big impact in my youth, and I never realised the amount of songs I actually listened to, and loved. No kidding, this mix is filled with 50 records, and the majority are just so damn good, they make me feel young again. Old at the same time, but that's a different story.
Ruffneck was ground breaking. The label released so many amazing records, and here are just a handful of those releases. You will not be disappointed.

One solid mix with some serious anthems. I grew up with these songs, as they became successful. And I loved hearing them. Truth be told, I still love hearing them. They are fucking epic Hardcore anthems. Some of these might be overlooked, but they shouldn't. These should appear in more mixes. This is true Hardcore, in its most beautiful form.
Artcore, Hardcore, Gabber... whatever you call it, it doesn't matter. It is music that speaks to me, and years after the initial release date, they still make me turn up the volume to the max, and blow my eardrums to bits. Jason S has done yet another epic job, composing this mix, and making it work extremely well. The result is 70 minutes of pure eargasms.
Obviously these tracks have got memories linked to them. But which one has got the most memories? I have to give that one to Predator ''Mind Of A Lunatic''. Thunderdome XIII, if I'm not mistaken. And that's the track that was on repeat for months in my household. What a banger. ''Jiieehaaaaa'' too. And ''Ruffneck Rules Da Artcore Scene!!!'' too, but that quickly faded away into obscurity due to the scene slowly disliking it.
Yeah, give credit to Predator for a wicked anthem. Still rocks hard, even in 2025!
What memories do you have of Ruffneck? And does the music appeal to you? Is this your kind of 90s Hardcore, or was this too soft/hard for you? Would be interesting to find out your views on Ruffneck, one of the most important labels of the 90s!
