I've been away for a few days, to lovely Chorleywood, which isn't far away from London, but it was a nice break that me and the missus needed. The one thing I did miss was my music. My PC is literally my life, and is my key to the world. Yes, I've got a mobile phone and a tablet and a laptop, but nothing can beat the wonderful PC. But to keep my music coming (one way or the other), I went on Soundcloud every day to find good mixes. And I found one by Smith & Brown, you know them, they made this smashing record with the awesome lyrics 'beautiful beautiful'. And I'm sorry to say that I've just forgotten the title.
But I glanced at the tracklist, and this track is actually in here: 'Last Landing'. Pfew, saved myself from a blunder. Anyway, let's talk about the event they will be playing at on the 6th of October in East Kilbride. It's called Resilience, and they play alongside Andy Howie, Ian Maxwell, Graeme Johnstone, Maig Shaw, Alan Jess, and Ryan Gillies. Not familiar with any of these names (besides the ones who made this mix), but to be fair: you can't go wrong. As long as David Guetta is not on the line-up everything is fine.
The tracklist. Well, it's a beauty.
01. Maarten De Jong - Cast Iron (Extended Mix) 02. Sied van Riel - Atomic Blonde (Original Mix) 03. Sneijder - Neutralize (HP Source Remix)
04. Vision X - Bantai (Mastered)
05. Joint Operations Centre feat Kate Miles - Behind The Silence (Original Mix)
06. Kriess Guyte - Destination Kosmos (Extended Mix)
07. Stoneface & Terminal - Airflow (Extended Mix)
08. Chicane feat Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up (Billy Gillies Rework)
09. Heatbeat - Mortal Kombat (Extended Mix)
10. Smith & Brown - Foul Matter
11. Smith & Brown - Last Landing (Original Mix)
12. Project 8 - Order (Extended Mix)
I love the fact that they just left the records as they were: no silly radio edits, but fully extended mixes. That's what I needed to hear. Especially when it comes to Trance/Tech Trance.
You can say whatever you like, but you can not find anything negative about this mix. Smith and Brown have made an excellent promo mix for this event, and it's a no-brainer: if you live near East Kilbride, you should definately check them out. I hope one day they will come down South and play somewhere in London. Their music is promising, and it's an act I really would like to see live.
The music, well, the music in this mix is excellent. They've included 2 of their own records, and what they have done is mixed Techno with Trance beautifully. I love this balanced music. And with 'Foul Matter' they've also included a Breakbeat section! Fuck me sideways, that's something I wasn't expecting!
But the best record has got to be 'Last Landing' (yes, the record I forgot the title of). I still love records with a bit of outer space stuff in there. That's a dancefloor smasher, an earthquake causer. Mighty record.
Check this wonderful promo mix out! And buy those tickets!
