Tommyknocker @ Ghosttown 2 Decades (2013)

The weekend has finally landed! And now we go 8 years back in time. Ever heard of Ghosttown? Ever been to one of their events? I sadly haven't, but I've heard of them, and reviewed many sets taken from this event series. It you love your Hardcore, this is the place to be, since 1992. They've been pushing Hardcore forward, and for their event in 2013, at the Central Studios in Utrecht, they had a killer line-up, a serious killer line-up. The line-up is basically full of legends. I would have given an arm and a leg to be at this event, fuck me what an insane line up!

It was split into two areas: the Ghosttown area and Hard Alliance. The first area was focussed on the 'early Hardcore' from 1992 to 1999, and the DJs were: The Dreamteam, Placid K, The Masochist, Dr. Rude, Predator, Paralyser, Pavo, Rob & MC Joe. Amazing, isn't it? Well, area 2 had the following DJs: Nosferatu, Korsakoff, Amnesys, Tommyknocker, D-Tune, and Vince. And it's Tommyknocker's set is the one I'm discussing today.

Tommyknocker has always been my favourite Italian producer, His tunes are absolutely fucking brutal to the core, and have been a stable force of excellent 'Millennium' sounding Hardcore. Well, that's a fucking dumb statement, because he just made Hardcore during the Millennium years. But what I'm trying to say, is that his Millennium Hardcore tracks were, and still are, the finest out of Italy.

His discography is something that many producers should be jealous of, and his set at Ghosttown shows the world why he's the undisputed king of the Italian Millennium Hardcore sound. He's the king. Is that maybe a bold statement? Nope, fuck that. I stand by what I just said. Disagree? Have you even been to a rave and heard Tommyknocker? Have you been alive during the Millennium years? Have you actually listened to this Ghosttown set?

This is pure porn for those Hardcore fanatics who adore the Millennium sound. You must agree with me: Tommyknocker certainly knows how to produce excellent tunes, right? Each and every track made or remixed by him in this mix is just a contender for the best track from the 2000s. He was, and still is the best.

I did find this set a few days ago, and on my way home from work, I started listening to this, and I had the volume on max. Seriously, on max. My speakers are now making this crackling noise, which isn't healthy, if I'm honest. But you cannot listen to this kind of music at a low volume. If you saw me driving on the M25 on Thursday around 5pm, I do apologise. But not for the music, but for my behaviour.

This is a truly amazing set. Most people would say that 'Twisted World' or 'Revolution' is their favourite, but for me 'Your Choice' has to be the best tune ever made! That song has got so much oomph and power behind it. And whenever it goes to the bit 'you got to make your choice, motherfucker', I loose myself completely, and scream from the top of my lungs.

A blinding set, and a gorgeous one to start your weekend with!
