Tribute to Thunderdome @ Elderly Care Massive summer of 2024

Updated: 2 hours ago

Elderly Care Massive. Now that's a statement. Sounds like an underground crew. Truth be told, I've never heard of this massive before, or this event, but as it took place in Sweden, it probably didn't appear on my radar, as I've never been to Sweden. Would like to go one day. I did do a quick search, and this event had a lot of unknown artists perform there, but the set I am about to talk about, was the one by Miss Armida. Why her set? Well, because it could be the best set of the year for me. She was announced as a huge 90s gabba and Happy Hardcore lover, and you can tell that she loves the same songs I grew up with.

I am a huge Hardcore fan. Be it happy or not. I grew up, listening to it from 1993 to the present day, and I'm always extremely happy to find sets that have a) a tracklist and b) big records. Miss Armida has picked 19 records for her hour long set, and those records are extremely dope as fuck. I don't think I've encountered a set before where each record in it represented my past so beautifully. These are 100% the records of my youth.

And I'm not kidding. These are really the finest Hardcore anthems from the 90s. I love each and every one of them, and during the 90s, these were the records on my Thunderdome collection which would be played over and over. She picked these records, crammed them into her set, and the result is a fantastic set, which has been on repeat for a few days now.

I felt young again. And if a set does that to me, it's a winner. But which records did she pick, which represents my youth the most?

  1. Ohm - Trip To Paradise (Hardcore Revival Mix)

  2. 50% Of The Dreamteam - B With U

  3. Trancehistory - Doo Dey (DJ Dione Remix)

  4. Body Lotion II - Make You Dance

  5. Naked Steel - Vive La France

  6. Sim, B-ernd & Wax - Face Off

  7. James Daltan meets DJ X-Ess - Bed Time

  8. Nitrogen - Bad Bwoy

  9. Wedlock - Ruffneck (Sound Of The Drum & The Bass)

  10. The Scotchman - Get Busy Time

  11. Creepozoids - One More Time

  12. Duo Pennotti - Addicted II Raves

  13. DJ Weirdo & DJ Sim - Go Get Busy (Hardcore Edit)

  14. Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ (Original Mix)

  15. Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To Da Bone

  16. DJ Dione - Suckerz

  17. Search & Destroy - Don't Need Nobody

  18. Scott Brown vs DJ Rab S - Now Is The Time

  19. 3 Steps Ahead - Drop It (Original Mix)

Seriously, this brings back a lot of memories. They were literally the best of the best when they were released. And they did a lot of damage on the dancefloors all over the world. They still do, actually.

She has picked 19 amazing records, and normally I would pick my favourite, but I couldn't do it. I simply could not. Maybe I just pick the least favourite record? 'One More Time'. A good song, but not the best. Still fits into this mix nicely. But then the favourite record? God, I can't do it. But what I can say, is that it's cool to hear 'Bed Time' in a mix. Such an underrated song, not played that often. But I also like 'Get Busy Time', 'Ruffneck', Make You Dance', 'Name Of The DJ', and of course 'Hardcore To Da Bone'. There's simply too many to choose from.

This is such a dope set. The flow is good, and the songs are good. This set brings a smile on my face, and a tear to my eye, as they don't make them like they used to. Nor does the present day Hardcore sound anything like this. Maybe it's because I'm getting too old to get used to the 'new' sound?

''When you're too old to die young''. One day I will be 'old'. But, if I'm being honest, I'll still be listening to Hardcore to the day I die. My ear functionality might have changed dramatically, but it will still be pounding my eardrums. I can't picture my life without 90s Hardcore music. That sounds like a living Hell to me. Give me more sets like this one please. Miss Armida, your set can be considered one of the best of 2024, that's for sure!
