- GTA Digital Podcast #22, Mixed By Gary The Apprentice (2020)
Techno. A style I should listen to more often, but sadly I don't find the time. Nor do I find many of them on my Soundcloud timeline. And that's because I'm not actively looking for any mixes. For that, I do apologize. I should embrace Techno music a lot more, because it has shaped my youth, and made me love everything harder styles related. Techno was my first love, if truth be told. And it has given us so much over the years. A constant source of dark materials, and never changing from its source material. Techno 4 life. So why I am I apologising, when I am about to review a Techno mix? Well, I do not know. I am full of mystery. But anyway, let's talk about the mix. This is a digital podcast series, called the GTA Digital Podcast, and the 22nd instalment has been mixed by Gary The Apprentice. What a name, never seen a DJ name like that before. Nor have I seen his name before. But I saw the tags he used for this mix, which were Hard Techno, Schranz, Industrial Techno, and of course Techno. And if you have Schranz as one of the tags on your mix, I am immediately drawn to it. I love a bit of Schranz, me. If you are interested in these mixes, you can find them on Fnoob Techno Radio. Another thing I've never seen or heard before. My God, have I been living underneath a rock the last couple of years? Here's the tracklist for you die hard Techno lovers! 01. Anthropophagus - Minimized 02. Boris S - Bondage 03. Kaoz - Bustenhalter 04. Matt M Maddox - Mighty Tool 05. Frank Kvitta & Robert Natus - First Contact 06. Sven Wittekind - Wrong Turn 07. Robert Natus & Arkus P - Hermoso (Hard Version) 08. Alex Calver - Hostel 09. Alex TB - Bifucacao 10. Alex Calver vs Traced & The Mexican - From The Darkside 11. Tobias Luke a.k.a. O.B.I. - Seek And Destroy 12. Sven Wittekind - Superpimp 13. Robert Natus - Kidding? No! 14. Arkus P - My Real Love 15. Teknicity - Die 16. Arkus P - Crash 17. Wortex - Braindamage Scream 18. DJ Hamy - Evil Foreboding 19. Jason Little - Posed To Death 20. Rude Awakening vs DJ Amok - Electronic Rod (Waldhaus Remix) It's nice to see a few names in Gary's mix which I recognise. Like Boris S, Sven Wittekind, Rude Awakening, Frank Kvitta, and well, those were the names I do recognise. All the others are new to me, so this could be a nice introduction into their musical gift to the world. And boy, this 1 hour and 1 second long mix does just that. Don't expect any soft or mellow Techno, only the finest and roughest Techno is played by Gary The Apprentice. The hour has flown by very quickly, and I've enjoyed every second of it. Of course, being a Techno lover since 1993, it has rekindled my love for the harder Techno sound, and I am now following GTA Digital on Soundcloud. I need more Techno. And I do mean it. Towards the end of the mix it all goes even harder and rougher. I wasn't expecting that, seeing as the beginning and mid section of this mix was already hard, but it can even go faster and rougher. I really liked it. And the last record, remixed by Waldhaus, is exactly what I needed to hear right now. Why sleep, when you can hear this? Gary The Apprentice, you've gained a fan. I really enjoyed this Hard Techno set. More of this please. MORE! - 30 Minutes of Early Hardcore | Tracks from 1992 - 1999 | Mix 092 | By DJ Raving Madness (2020)
Due to the high demand of Early Hardcore, Soundcloud is filled with many excellent mixes. Or maybe my filter set for this is just wrong, but I'm not really that fussed. I do like a bit of the early stuff, and the latest mix by Raving Madness is really packed with so many obscure and unknown anthems, we do need more mixes like this one. For his latest instalment, he has selected records from the early years, ranging from 1992 until 1999, so really early stuff. Are you getting excited yet? I know I am. I do love a bit of Hardcore, me. And I do know all the well known anthems. My brain sadly filters out the obscure records, or I've not heard them before because they are that odd and obscure, but when in 2020 you find a mix full of forgotten anthems, I can't help myself, and a boner is the result of this 32 minute mix. A few of the records selected I do know, so it's not that I'm Hardcore illiterate. It's just that more than 50% of these anthems have never been penetrating my ears, and I feel sad for missing them. I think that those I do know of, are underrated. And they definately deserve a bigger stage. Yes, we are all exhausted, hearing those 'classic' anthems, but it's these classics that Raving Madness has selected I am ruling for. These are records that take me back to the 90s more than ever. The more underground and obscure, the better. 01. Rob Gee - Jersey Guido 02. Rotterdam Termination Source - Poing (Jump A Little Higher) 03. The Carpenter - Jump Off The Fucking Roof 04. Bass-D & King Matthew - Take Me Higher (Gizmo Remix) 05. Masoko Solo - Pessa Pessa (E-Rick & Tactic Remix) 06. Tony Salmonelli & Pino D'Ambini - Class Axion Take 3 07. Vanugenth The 5th - Here We Go Again 08. Ferocious - Cocaine 09. Perpetrator - To Da Base 10. Pagan - Mister Mister Scarface Of course, the biggest hit has to be 'Here We Go Again'. This is the one that still gets the most airtime of all these 10 records. And I do like the record, don't get me wrong but the other 9 are just so appealing. So attractive. So sexy. So unique. Why don't we see these records more in mixes? This was the era when Happy and normal Hardcore blended together nicely, and there was no hatred or anger about it. Obviously now we distinguish each sound, but back in the 90s (prior to 1996) it was all Hardcore. We put it in boxes, and ruined it. The happy sound was awesome. Which brings me to my next point: best record.... 'Take Me Higher' by Bass-D & King Matthew, remixed by Gizmo. What a slammer. But even the remixed version of 'Pessa Pessa' is excellent. This one I've never heard before, and I DO love a bit of E-Rick & Tactic. Lovely blend of happy and hard Hardcore. Or what about the bass in 'Mister Mister Scarface'? Boy, they don't make records like these anymore. Shame. A wicked mix. Loved it. Excellent stuff, Raving Madness. I look forward to your next mix! More obscure and sexy records please. But not the Rob Gee back catalogue. Boy, that intro was dreadful. Let us all just forget about this record, and pretend it never happened. - 1998 to 2004 (Mostly) Under The Radar UK Hardcore (2020)
The other day I found this mix, which contains obscure and mostly forgotten about underground UK Hardcore anthems. And truth be told, a quick glance at the tracklist shows indeed records I've never seen before, nor heard before.Well, maybe one or two or the records selected by DJ Ectomorph have been heard by myself, but the majority of records are seriously underground records. My UK Hardcore collection is quite large (if I may say so), but these records I've not come across before. But also, I started listening to it since early 2002, so I've missed out on a lot. When you find a mix with records like these ones, you are immediately drawn to it. Don't you just love it to hear something new every day, even though the records are 20+ years old? That's the reason why I review: 'new' music is always exciting. Gives me enough reasons to continue exploring this scene, and others too. Ectomorph made this mix, and he already mentioned that there might be a few tiny errors in here, but he still kept it as it is, on Soundcloud, because it shows that it's raw. And heartfelt. That's nice. Mixing from vinyl is tricky, especially when no-one does it anymore, but it's still cool though. The tracklist. Yes, you've been dying to see that since I mentioned the words 'obscure' and 'UK Hardcore'. Here it is: 01. Brisk - Set Free 02. Sy & Unknown - Command Your Soul 03. Interstate - Basic Nature 04. Juicy Cuts - Juicy Cuts Volume 7 05. Trixxy - Sunrise 06. Q-Tex - The First Parable 07. Kevin Energy - In Deep Trouble 08. Sy & Unknown - A Warped Optimism 09. Scott Brown - Return To Elysium 10. Interstate - Move Your Body 11. Sy & Unknown - Aural Illusion 12. Devastate, Menis & Dair - Deep Down Under 13. Sy & Unknown - Gonna Get Ya (Sy & Unknown Remix) 14. Scott Brown - Definition Of A Bad Boy 15. G-Spencer & Gammer - Space Exploration 16. DJ Kambel - No Jokin (Original Mix) 17. DJ Hooligan & The Preacher - Crackman 18. Fade & Dair - Burning NRG 19. Q-Tex - Let The Bass GO 20. The Vampire - Total XTC (4 The Floor Mix) 21. Interstate - Hardcore Hustler 22. Breeze & Styles - Future Set 23. Kevin Energy - Crescendos Of Ecstacy (Original Hard Trance Mix) Wow. This is truly a collection of unknown records! You've got to remember that this kind of music wasn't big at all outside of the UK, so for me to find it, is a genuinely amazing thing. Not many Dutch people do appreciate it, sadly. But maybe they will after hearing this mix? Let's hope so. The mix is filled with so many wicked anthems, it instantly should take the raving communtiy back to the golden years of UK Hardcore. 1998 to 2004 were good years. It paved the way for the next generation Hardcore fanatics, and the tunes from these years are still seen as classics. Ectomorph's selection obviously contains the more underground anthems, but play them at any rave in 2020, and everyone will loose their freaking minds! The funny thing is that I started to like UK Hardcore from 2002 onwards, so I'm more into the newer sounding UK Hardcore. I still appreciate the older sound, but prefer the newer sound. But it's still nice to hear the origins of the sound, and the artists that made the sound so appealing. A good set, with a few minor mistakes. But with some excellent anthems. What else could you ask for? Go and download this for free now, and take a trip back into time, 16+ years ago. Best record? Well, it's a Q-Tex's record. Were you surprised? 'Let The Bass Go'. What an anthem! - Headhunterz - HARD with STYLE Episode 88: Yearmix 2019
I am a fan of Headhunterz. We all know that. Never had the opportunity to see him perform live, but over the years I've collected a huge collection of his music, and his mixes on Soundcloud are played over and over again and again. And I'm not the only one who is a huge fan of Headhunterz: many thousands of fans he's got all over the world. And he reached a good position on the DJ Mag Top 100 list last year, which is going to be the last time he's on this list. Currently he's on a break and I'm guessing that he needs this short break to get everything back on track again. He deserves it. Take as long as you need, mr Heady. So for this year's Year mix he wasn't the one behind the decks, but Hypnose. Sorry to say that I do not have a clue who he/she is, but it's obviously a big decision. A big chance. This will obviously become a well listened to episode of the already succesfull Hard With Style series, seeing as we are all yearmix fanatics. And this hour and 40 minute long mix has got the finest records from last year. The mix shows us all that 2019 was an excellent year for Hardstyle, and I've really enjoyed what was released throughout the year. Hypnose's mix is really interesting, and contains a lot of records which are really hot. Yes, 2019 was an excellent and truly remarkable year for Hardstyle. And also for Headhunterz, who made some amazing records. Yes, he made the most memorable tunes, those that stick in your head for days. I love them. Here's the tracklist for you Hardstyle fanatics: 00. HARD with STYLE Intro 01. Headhunterz - Orange Heart 02. Wildstylez & Noisecontrollers - 200 Dreams 03. D-Block & S-te-Fan - Sound of Thunder (D-Sturb Remix) 39. B-Front & Adrenalize - Elektronic Symphony 40. Devin Wild & Atmozfears - Gladiators 41. Demi Kanon feat MC DL - Grace 42. D-Block & S-te-Fan & Sub Zero Project - Darkest Hour (The Clock) 43. Headhunterz & Sub Zero Project - Amen 44. Adaro - I'm Alive (Rebirth Anthem 2019) 45. Sub Zero Project feat Christina Novelli - The Contagion 46. Act of Rage - Raveline 47. Aftershock - Reaching For The Stars 48. Ran-D & Endymion feat Le Prince - Run From Reality 49. Crypton & Damian Ray - One Way Up 50. The Prophet - Wanna Play? 51. Sefa - One Tribe (Defqon.1 Anthem 2019) This is really an amazing tracklist, with a lot of truly astonishing records. Over the years my love for Hardstyle has been up and down, but 2019 was for me the best year. A lot of melodic anthems that truly moved the raving community even harder, yet it took us into new dimensions we've not been to before. Yes, the music has become slightly harder, but oh so good. I've been listening to a lot of mixes throughout last year, and all have the same thing in common: the music was good. Good in the sense that it never disappointed me. And I love the fact that the genre is slowely changing its direction, by doing things not seen before. Heady working with the female singer from Kosheen, Sub Zero Project with Christina Novelli, etc. It's a good progression. The scene deserves it, and needs more of these projects. Last year was a good year, not only for Headhunterz, but also for KELTEK, Sound Rush, Wildstylez, Noisecontrollers, and many more. I've fallen in love with whatever they release, but truth be told, it's Headhunterz's producing skills that made me fall in love with Hardstyle even more. He just hits the nail on the head. But those are not the best records in this mix. Funnily enough, it's not a Hardstyle record that blew my mind. It's a record by Talon, which is called 'Blow Me Off'. Filth, freaking filth! That's what this is! A very solid year mix by Hypnose. Again, for those that cannot read, it's not made by Headhunterz, but by Hypnose. And he/she should be proud of the outcome: a very solid mix. I've got no negative comments to provide! Only love for this mix! A note to Heady: take your time mate. Make sure you rest enough to become even more powerful when you do return. We can wait. - Bass-D - Thundermag-Mix (2016)
I have reviewed this mix. Haven't I? I am not sure. Normally every mix I review gets a like on Soundcloud, but it turns out this one hasn't received one from me, which is odd. Strange, to say the least. So I'm guessing that I might have forgotten to like it, when it was released back in 2016, to commemorate the upcoming event Thunderdome. It has obviously already happened, so no point in me talking about how amazing it was bla bla bla. There's no point in doing that. Let's therefore talk about the mix, made by Bass-D. He's a legend, Bass-D. He's made a lot of excellent megamixes over the years, and during the 90s he was alongside King Matthew, and dominated the scene. He's made a lot of records over the years, and some have turned into all time classics. You will find a few of them in here, but also a lot of records taken from Thunderdome 1 to whatever number it was around 2016. I've lost track on how many they have actually released. I stopped buying them after 27, so I'm guessing it must be around that number? On Soundcloud you will find the tracklist including the numbers of each Thunderdome behind each track, where they were originally from. If I'm correct, this mix was also to celebrate the brief return of the legendary Thunder Magazine. I wasn't a member/subscriber of it, but I did buy them occasionally. So I do know of its existence. Don't have any of the original magazines, but only the collection one, released around 1999, which had images of parties over the years. A good trip down memory lane for me. But this mix is the same. A trip to my youth. And this is one of the reasons why I will never grow old, or grow up. Hardcore is always part of me, and it has been a part of me since 1993. I will always be the 10 year old boy, dancing in his bedroom, driving his parents mad. Check out this tracklist, if you haven't already! 01. Bass-D & King Matthew - The Thunder Anthem ('96) (Intro) 02. E-Man - Bass Machine 03. Promo & Catscan - Midnight Impact 04. Sim - Simbiosis 05. Distortion & MC Raw vs Bass-D & King Matthew - Raveworld 06. Catscan - The Agency 07. Headbanger - Sweet Dreams You Bastard 08. Base Alert - Zoo 09. Omar Santana & The Prophet - Old To Da New (The Prophet Mix) 10. Thunderball - Bonzai Channel One 11. Promo - Brother Of Conflict 12. Bass-D & King Matthew - Nuclear Hardcore 13. Tommyknocker - The Revolution 14. The Masochist - No Newstyle (Buzz Fuzz Remix) 15. Bertocucci Feranzano - XTC Love 16. Wayward - Hardcore Hijacked Me 17. Evil Activities vs Panic & MC Alee - Never Fall Asleep 18. Mad Dog - Welcome Down 19. Promo - Fuck Them Followers 20. Day-Mar - Embrace The Night 21. Knightvision - Who Is It 22. Predator - Mind Of A Lunatic 23. Square Dimensione - Brand New Dance 24. Too Fast For Mellow - We Gonna Get This Place 25. Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - DJ Fuck 26. Promo - Cold As Stone 27. Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ (Buzz Fuzz Remix) 28. 3 Steps Ahead - Drop It 29. Bertocucci Feranzano - E-Motion (Buzz Fuzz Mix) 30. The Prophet - Dominatin' 31. F. Salee - The End Of The Beginning 32. Rob Gee - Ecstacy You Got What I Need 33. 3 Steps Ahead - Hakkuh 34. Rotterdam Terror Corps - Sound Of Madness See, I told you that you were going on a trip down memory lane. But don't worry: you've probably also spotted the fact that some of these records aren't that old. Yes, some are from the early Thunderdome's, but also a few recent records. A nice mash of literally all the Thunderdomes released over the years. Of course Bass-D does not need an introduction. You do know him from the wicked Thunderdome years, or even from the Masters Of Hardcore years. You are aware of who he is, and what he's capable of. And this mix proves yet again why he's a true mix master. An hour and a half of pure Thunderdome madness. Not one of his ultimate megamixes, where he crammed in 1276423 records in 20 minutes, but still a descent megamix. I've got absolutely no negative comments regarding the mixing qualities of Bass-D. They are tight as fuck. Obviously they only negative feedback I can give relates to the records selected. Yeah, you can't please us all. The only record I can say has diminished in quality over the years is Rob Gee's record. I used to hear this at least once a day, now I can't stand it anymore. Once a year will suffice me. But which is my favourite? Well, I can't pick. Can you? See the predicament I am in? So many great anthems, old and new. So fuck it, 33 amazing records. Good choice, mr Bass-D, good choice. Excellent mix. It might be three/four years old, but it still packs a punch. Destroying eardrums and speakers all over the world. And that's the power behind Thunderdome. And as we all said in the 90s: Hardcore 4 Life. Never grow old, people. Embrace the gabber inside of you, and let it out! - BlvckVox x Stormrazor - Stormvox Vol 1 (2019)
A new mix was brought to my attention by ViperStar, the DJ and producer from the far East. He's known for making and mixing UK Hardcore music, but his new alter ego Stormrazor has gone down a different path. Hardstyle, a new venture for ViperStar. So don't worry if you are unfamiliar with this name: it's just ViperStar's new DJ persona. And for this mix he decided to ask the help of BlvckVox. And I've tried to figure out how to say his name. Mysterious name. As usual, I've asked them if they could provide me with a tracklist. I'm quite annoying when it comes to that, but mixes without a tracklist will normally not make it onto this glorious website. Thanks to Stormrazor and Blvckvox to compose it, and I can share it with you. But what is in this mix? Well, Hardstyle focussed music. You weren't expecting that, if truth be told. But that's exactly what you are getting. And it's a weird and yet diverse tracklist. Worth checking out! 01. Timmy Trumpet & Alok - Metaphor (Twisted Melodiez x N3bula x Balluk Bootleg) 02. DJ Isaac - Down With Me 03. TNT & Sound Rush - Right Now 04. Steve Hill, Technikal & Francesco Zeta - Public Enemy 05. Audiofreq - Timebomb (Artix Reverse Bass Edit) 06. RiraN - Full Control 07. The Pitcher - Pump It Loud (Frequencerz Remix) 08. DJ Ruthless & Crude Intentions & GLDY LX - Fire Hazard 09. Dr Phunk - The Drums 10. Dany BPM - Bass Louder 11. Dr Rude - Bring It 12. Equalizer - This Is My Bassline (NOLEJ Remix) 13. Gammer - THE DROP (CaZ Hardstyle Edit) 14. Gammer - Needed U (XVLA Remix) 15. The Prodigy - Voodoo People (Inquisitive Hard Psy Remix) 16. Henrik Underwood & MAISHI - MKULTRA 17. 4B & Teez - Whistle (ATTAQ Remix) 18. Yellow Claw - Danger Days (ATTAQ Hardpsy Remix) 19. Wuki & Ape Drums - Bed Squeak (ATTAQ Hard Remix) 20. Snavs & Yellow Claw - Jungle Fever (Equalizer Remix) 21. K3V - Hanging (Shinsei Hardpsy Remix) 22. Darren Styles - Party Don't Stop (Tim Lock Bootleg) 23. Darren Styles, Gammer & Dougal - Burning Up 24. S3RL feat Harri Rush & Krystal - Fire 25. Orbit1 - The Realm 26. Alex Bassjunkie & Riche - Whore! 27. S3RL - The Wilhelm Scream (Gabber Mix) 28. Atmozfears & LXCPR - Live Loud (Decibel Outdoor 2019 Hardcore Edit) Would I consider this to be a Hardstyle mix? If I'm honest, I would say no. This is more a Freestyle mix. If you don't know what that means, Google it. But what it basically means is a set with whatever you fancy. Not just bound to one style or genre. Everything. Free to play whatever you like. And as you can see by looking at the tracklist, this has got everything. An interesting mix. A lot of good anthems. This keeps the party going, if truth be told. BlvckVox and Stormrazor's mix is interesting. A different approach to the 'Hardstyle' mixes you can find on Soundcloud. A plethora of mixes are standard, but this one isn't. And it's nice to see a mix of EDM related music with a bit of UK Hardcore. Obviously ViperStar had to add a few records in here. It's a different approach, and I'm not used to it as much. Not a fan of too much cheese in a set. Yes, sometimes you need to keep thing light and happy, but when it becomes too much, it becomes a bit too much. I'm not a fan of S3RL, or the cheesy EDM sound which dominates the charts. But that's just me. You can have a different opinion, and you might like it. Good for you! I still listened to this and enjoyed it. Need to get my head around the weird sounds that are everywhere nowadays, but 2020 has only just started, so I've got plenty of time to work on it. A good set by this new duo. Give it a go, and you might like it a lot! Ps. you can download this for free, but my internet is playing up, and it won't. - 90's Hardcore Vinyl Mix Vol 3 #EarlyHardcore (2018)
I'm on an oldskool trip right now. The other day I was listening to two Millennium Hardcore mixes, made by both DJ Promo and Waxweazle, and now it's time to go back in time, even further back, to the 90s. As we've seen before, Mr Scott has been uploading early Hardcore mixes, and this third instalment captures a specific sound that came out during the 90s. In this mix you can find Dutch, English and Scottish Hardcore records, released on labels such as Master Maximum Records, Evolution Records, Screwdriver Records, Rotterdam Records, and more. With mixes like these ones you will always find records so obscure, you never even heard them before. This mix contains a lot of those. I consider myself a huge Scott Brown fan, but I haven't even heard half of what he has released on his label Evolution Records. The good thing about this sound, is that it's unique. It's not copied anymore, or sadly present anymore, but it makes the music sound so 90s. Proper early Hardcore vibes throughout this mix. The tracklist is a beauty. Worth checking out! 01. Genaside - Fuck You 02. Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Live In London 03. E-Rick & Tactic - What The Fuck (Scott Brown Mix) 04. Visa - Revenge 05. Sub Source - The Hardcore Anthem 06. Scott Brown - Slipstream 07. Q-Tex - Equazion Part 4 08. Bass-D & King Matthew - Get Dumb 09. Mindcontroller - Ohh God Damned I'm Great 10. DJ Paul - Boom Boom 11. Forbes & Cyclone - Faze 12. Scott Brown - Ready For War 13. Lords Of Hardcore - Work That Sukka 14. Bass Reaction - Technophobia 15. DJ Dell & Scott Brown - Inferno (Scott Brown Mix) 16. Marc Smith - Pump Up The Noize 17. DJ Alex - Say What? 18. King Dale - Fuck Face 19. Sub Source - Into Euphoria 20. Forbes & Cyclone - Full Force He's got some amazing records in this hour long mix! I love these mixes, they are nice and diverse. And yet still maintain a consistency throughout. There's a specific sound you will hear from the first to the last second that we are all familiar with. This sound, I miss dearly. How did I find this mix? Well, it happened by accident. I was looking for 'Full Force' on Soundcloud, because it's an underrated Happy Hardcore classic. And the first mix that appeared with this, was Mr Scott's 90s mix. Hence why I listened to it, and why I'm writing about it. This mix contains a lot of excellent tunes, like 'Faze', 'Full Force', 'Equazion Part 4', 'Fuck You', and the list continues. I loved every second of this mix, but not 'Get Dumb' by Bass-D and King Matthew. Not a brilliant record if truth be told. But which record is the best? Well, 'Pump Up The Noize' is my favourite. Yes, it's not the record that got me into this mix in the first place, but it's probably Marc Smith's finest record ever. A legendary dancefloor anthem. You can download this mix, it's all for free. - We've Still Got The Stamina [Records] (Round Two!) (2020)
The year has only started 4 days ago, and M@rt!n-J has already uploaded a brand new mix. Will he ever stop? Does he ever take a break? It appears that he doesn't. What a machine he is. And this time, he decided to make yet another Stamina Records' focussed mix, with tracks from the finest Freeform label out there. And seeing as you are a regular to this page (for which, I thank you), you all know that I'm a huge fan of this label, and consider it to be the finest label to release Freeform music. Do you think I am right, or wrong? Whatever you think of my opinion, it truly doesn't matter. What you can underline is the fact that this label has been responsible for the baddest and wickedest (is that even a word?) records. They have released the finest and most beautiful Freeform songs ever, and they keep on pushing the music forward. Freeform and this label deserves so much more recognition, and hopefully with this mix it does get more recognition. It's about 52 minutes long, with 13 of Stamina's finest records. If you have missed the first instalment of this mix series, don't worry: just check M@rt!n-J's Soundcloud page (click here) and search for it yourself! Or just check this awesome website (mine of course) for the previous review. But for now, let me show you the tracklist! 01. CLSM - Gravity Wave (Intro Mix) 02. Transcend - Never Be The Same 03. A.B feat Sarah - The Future Of Sound 04. Transcend - Artificial (Gammer Remix) 05. A.B - Salvation 06. A.B - Escapia (Audio Warfare Remix) 07. Douglas & Transcend - GTFO 08. Kounta Kulture feat Zealous - Falling Skies 09. A.B - Where Art Thou Wandring Fish 10. Douglas - Boys Will Be 11. Douglas - Waking Up 12. Douglas - Social Injustice 13. A.B vs K-Wire - Twisted Wow. An epic , nearly hour long mix. Fantastic mix by M@rt!n-J. He's done it again, and this time it has given me more goosebumps than ever before! Why? Because he has used a few Douglas records. And he's one of my favourite Freeform producers. I wonder what has happened to him, music wise he's been very quiet? Anyone know if he has released music at all recently? I really liked his music. Really talented producer. And now I've obviously have to mention my favourite record, and it's no surprise that it's one of Douglas' records. 'Social Injustice'. What a tremendous build up. When it hits you, it hits you like Thor's hammer. The force behind this record is just unbelievable! The mix is tight. Few small errors. But track wise, really stunning. I hope M@rt!n-J keeps on releasing mixes forever. He's our constant source of excellent Freeform/UK Hardcore music. Probably TCD's most favourite Soundcloud channel. Where else can you find all these awesome mixes? Only his page contains fire. With this first 2020 mix he has proven himself again to the world that his page should get more followers. And also the fact that Stamina Records is the best Freeform label in the world. Don't tell A.B this, he might be walking around with a huge erection for a week. A free download too! Wow, 2020 has really started alright for us all! DJ: M@rt!n-J Genre/Style: Freeform Mix Info: We've Still Got The Stamina [Records] (Round Two!) - Waxweazle Easter Bunny Mix (2018)
NYE and Christmas are over, ladies and gentlemen. It's official now. All over the country, Christmas trees are taken down this weekend, and decorations will disappear for 11 months. It's sad, but expected. Now let's focus on other festive periods throughout the year. And one of those happening this year, is Easter. Not that I'm bothered about Easter, but it's still a festive day. And about 1 1/2 years ago, DJ Waxweazle a.k.a. Headbanger made this Hardcore mix, which isn't downloadble sadly, but you can still appreciate it on Mixcloud. If you are thinking that this mix, which is obviously focussed on Hardcore music, contains any Easter bunny related music, you are wrong. Not that there are any Easter-kind of records anywhere on this Earth, like there's music for Xmas. But I'm guessing that there are some weirdos out there who have made Easter Hardcore records, with hopping bunnies and whatever makes Easter Easter. Nope, this mix is just pure Hardcore, no foolish records, just nice Early and Millennium Hardcore. Leave that job to Waxweazle to fulfill. He knows how to do that. And the tracklist does look extremely appealing. An hour and a half of Hardcore. Yesterday I reviewed a DJ Promo Millennium mix, and today it's Waxweazle's mix. 2020's already sounding good to me. But does it look good to you? Well, judge for yourself: here's the tracklist... 01. E-Man - Bass Machine 02. Dr. Macabre - Poltergeist 03. G-Town Madness - Gangsta Trippin 04. Mad-Donna - Frozen (Newstyle Remix) 05. Nightstalkers - Gangershit 06. Rave Creator - A New Mind (Cold Rush Phuture Mix) 07. Mister DJ - Freakin' It 08. Bike - Evil Bike 09. Manga Corps - The Hunter 10. Radical 2 React - Eliminatin' Suckers 11. Digital Boy - Dirty MF 12. Headbanger - Sweet Dreams (You Bastard) 13. Intensive Care - License To Ill 14. Meagashira - Through Inner Core 15. T-Factor - How Many More Are There 16. System 3 - Like A Shot (JDA Remix) 17. Headbanger feat Alee & Ruffian - Headbanger's Theme 18. Hard Creation - Bastard Asshole 19. Scott Brown - Bass Be Louder 20. Rave Creator & The Mover - Atmos-Fear (Catscan Remix) 21. Underground Nation Of Rotterdam - Bitch 22. Headbanger - Headbanger Minimix 3 (Deze Bass Is Still Alive) 23. DJ Paul - Play My Game 24. Lenny Dee & Hardcore Warriors - Anywhere 25. Cybernators - Open The Door 26. Waxweazle - Feel The Rhythm (Chico Chipolata Mix) 27. Masochist - No Newstyle (Buzz Fuzz Remix) 28. Inferno Bros. - Slaves To The Rave (PCP Mix) 29. King Dale - Utter (Reyes & Van Dale Remix) 30. Square Dimensione - Baddest Muthafucker (Buzz's Anthem Mix) 31. Predator & Wedlock - Roots And Culture 32. Technohead - The Number One Contender 33. Re-Charge - Bring The Rockers (DJ Waxweazle & DJ Berry Remix) 34. S.W.A.T. - The Fly Is Dead (DJ Waxweazle Remix) 35. Waxweazle & Promo - Fixxxed This is a dope tracklist. A lot of his own productions, of course, wouldn't expect anything otherwise. But still a nice and diverse tracklist. And with mixes like these, I always find records that I've not come across before,or heard in a long time. There's an obvious reason for that; a DJ has got more records in his/her collection that the raving community. Would be weird if for example Waxweazle had less records than me. But due to them having a larger collection, they always play records forgotten by most, or never heard before. And I like that. Boy, the amount of cool records in this mix is beyond belief. Seriously have not come across them for years. And I do feel ashamed. But the good thing is, that this takes me back to my childhood. Dancing/raving all night long, listening to cassettes, playing them on my Walkman, with those stupid headphones, which didn't make any sense. I even wore an elastic band around my head, just for the ear pieces to be closer to my ears, for me to hear the bass better. Yes, those were the 90s. And were are now 30 years later. And Hardcore is still going strong. That's obvious though. Waxweazle's mix is dope. A lot of nostalgic records, which puts a smile on our faces. The record that got me moving the most, is Scott Brown's 'Bass Be Louder'. For me the true MoH record that defined the Millennium sound they had. A good mix, with a few small errors. And one of the records Waxweazle has selected is truly not a great one. Sorry Rob, but 'Fixxxed' isn't what I was expecting it to be. Maybe when it was released it sounded cool, but in 2020 it has aged. Not well. Still a wonderful mix. You should definately check it out. - MILLENNIUMMMMM PART 2 (2016)
If there's one person who knows a thing or two about Millennium Hardcore, it has got to be Promo. He's been in the game for God knows how long, but has had a long lasting affect on all us, ravers. He's been our God since he emerged onto the scene, and his highest peak happened around the Millennium. For the younger generation who weren't around: that 's the year 2000. Y2K, anyone? The whole world were concentrating on making the computers work, whilst the raving community just carried out raving. And Promo was at the helm of it all. Don't pretend you don't know the impact his music has had on the scene. Well, OK, he wasn't certainly the only one. There are a shitload of artists who shaped the scene. Promo was one of them, but his music has touched many ravers. And even though he likes to push forward his music, he also acknowledges the fact that it wasn't just him that dominated during the Millennium years. And for that, he made 2 mixes. The first one I reviewed a year or so ago, but never knew that there was a second one. In this mix he crammed as much Millennium records in it as possible. An hour and a half of pure nostalgic Hardcore. Or Gabber. Whatever you would like to call it. It does contain the biggest and the most obscure records, so a nice mash of literally everything with fucking hard and rough beats, basses, and melodies only created by angels. But the BPMs were made by demons. Come on, it was hard. And I fucking love it! The tracklist will give you an erection. Or a moist underpants. Or whatever gets you going. Hard nipples. It will do something to you. But what it also does to you, is increase your heart beat to match the BPMs. I'm sitting here with a smile on my face, and Kleenex tissues ready. My heart is going absolutely mad right now. 01. Tommyknocker - Death By Stereo 02. Meccano Twins - Domin-Hated 03. Catscan - Exploded Vain 04. D.O.C. - Hardcore To The Penis (Promo Remix) 05. Unexist - Smash 06. Stormtrooper - Todesvogeln 07. Tommyknocker - Criminal 08. Ki-Real - The Warning 09. Endymion - We Are The Future (Remix) 10. The Blaster - War Is Coming 11. Tommyknocker vs Sunbeam - Twist 12. Catscan - Be Unforgettable 13. Evil Activities - Do You Like Bass? (Tha Playah Remix) 14. Art Of Fighters - Artwork 15. D-Passion - Designed To Fail 16. Endymion - Pussy Motherfuckers 17. Mad Dog - Dangerous 18. Nosferatu & Ophidian - Psychiatric Ass 19. Nosferatu & Endymion - Kapotnaaien 20. Tommyknocker - Sometimes 21. Promo - The Tablet 22. Negative A & Darkcontroller - Hard Vitality 23. D-Passion & Catscan - Phreaking Electronics 24. 3 Steps Ahead - Money In My Pocket (Promo Remix) 25. Ruffneck & Ophidian - So Many Sacrifices 26. Promo - Always Futile 27. Catscan - Drive By 28. Mad Dog & D-Passion - Take The Risk 29. Day-Mar - Embrace The Night 30. N-Vitral - Smitgotten 31. Unexist - Attack (Mad Dog Remix) This is definately Hardcore to the penis! My Lord, this is amazing! I've had a wonderful journey back to my childhood, just listening to this hour and a half long mix. The tracklist does look indeed amazing, and as I said, it contained the finest and most well known records, and also records I've not come across before, or heard in a looong time! Trip down memory lane, anyone? Promo knows a thing or two about music, and his mix does indeed contain filth. Hardcore filth. Just what I needed. My journeys to work have been short (that literally never happens), but around an hour at least one way, so that gave me the opportunity to listen to this mix at least 26492 times this week. Oh, I forgot to mention that I also listen to music at work, so Promo has been on my mind constantly this week. And it has been good. It does contain some errors. Well, truth be told, this is a vinyl only mix, so you would expect a few here and there. Sometimes you won't even notice, or even bother, but sometimes it's just a bit too much lol. It's like Promo is too eager to play all the records he wanted to play. Sometimes a let down, but the majority of the mix is still good. Two records are my all time favourites, 'Embrace The Night' put Day-Mar on the map, and on my map too, and 'We Are The Future'. Proper Enzyme Records vibes. Dark, edgy, yet beautiful. Demonic, that's the word I was looking for. All in all a wicked mix. Worth listening to. And also free to download. Double bonus! - Garuda YearMix 2019
Happy 2020! The decade has finally possed, and what a shit decade it was. We've had a lot of ups and downs, but when it comes to music, it's all been positive. We've seen new styles emerge, and some disappear. Some have grown in popularity, some have lost followers. And some just continued on. Steady as she goes. Trance is one of those genres that has slowly moved forward, not making that many changes, which is a good thing. Hence why there's a huge following, and one of the labels that has been pushing Trance music forward, is Garuda. The label, run by Gareth Emery, has been a successful label since 2009, and has given us memorable anthems. And 2019 has been a successful year for them too! To celebrate the year gone by, they have uploaded this 50 minute long year mix, containing the finest Trance anthems of 2019. And also a few harder tracks, which I'll talk about later. But for now, let's delve into the tracklist, and get all excited. 2019 was a good year, but will 2020 be even better? We've got 364 days to find out! 01. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge feat NASH - Vesper (Dennis Sheperd Remix) 02. Sheridan Grout feat BLÜ EYES - Freefall 03. Gareth Emery - Mezzanine 04. Ashley Wallbridge feat Clara Yates - Diamonds 05. Shane 54 feat Clara Sofie - Delirium 06. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge - Kingdom United 07. NASH - Momentum 08. Yoel Lewis feat Sam Knight - Never Die 09. Gareth Emery - Laserface 03 (Leaving You) 10. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge feat PollyAnna - Lionheart 11. NASH feat Michele C - I Know You 12. Joel Hirsch feat Sara Skinner - Your Reckless Heart 13. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge - Amber Sun 14. Ben Gold - Sapphire (Recut) 15. DRYM - Nemesis 16. Gareth Emery - Laserface 02 (Thoughts In Pieces) 17. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge - Electric Pirates 18. Gareth Emery & Emma Hewitt - Take Everything (STANDERWICK Remix) 19. Solis & Sean Truby, Ultimate, Katherine Amy - Stand By You 20. Gareth Emery - Laserface 01 (Aperture) 21. STANDERWICK - Never Gonna Step Down 22. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge feat Jonathan Mendelsohn - Never Before 23. Darude & Ashley Wallbridge feat Foux - Surrender (Hixxy Remix) This was 50 minutes of pure heaven! I woke up this morning (or was it this afternoon? I was still a bit tipsy) and I went straight onto my PC. I know it's pathetic, but I needed my morning ritual to be done with. I needed music, and I found Garuda's mix. It took me into a new dimension, and it has been a fantastic journey through the records selected for this mix. 23 amazing Trance records. Most people are still recovering from last night, and I'm sitting here, enjoying 2020 already. Yes, we had to do some chores, but whilst doing them, I had this mix on. Christmas and NYE are officially over, it's time for normal music to come back into our lives. See you next Christmas, Michael Buble and Mariah Carey. Now it's time for normal music. Garuda's mix is a good one. A good one to start 2020 with. Especially Gareth Emery's own records, which there are a lot of in this mix. The best one of this mix? Sorry, but it has to be three: the Laserface records. 01, 02 and 03. My God, they are good! Pure Trance vibes coming through your speakers. Especially 02. What a build up. Tremendously done, mr Emery. Wicked anthem(s). A wonderful mix. Enjoy it, and you will certainly see 2020 becoming a good year for us all. Hopefully it will be a good year for Garuda too, but no doubt it will. If they keep on pushing music like what they have used for this mix, it will be a majestic year. Oh yeah, it was cool that they have added a UK Hardcore anthem at the end. Not a huge fan of Hixxy, but still an enjoyable record. It's nice to see it slowly going places, after several decades of being forgotten and under appreciated. - December Bring The Ringer Mix (2019)
The end of the year is about to happen, and why not end on a relaxing note? It's been an interesting year for all of us, and for us here at TCD it's been a great year. A lot of awesome music coming out, and a lot of mixes being reviewed over the year. We will not stop though, bring on 2020. But what I'm trying to say is, NYE is happening, and we need to chill after a year of hard working, and I think I found a nice and relaxing mix to finish the year with. The mix I'm talking about, is made by The Knutsens. Never heard of them before, or seen any of The Knutsens before on Soundcloud, but to be fair, this is their first mix online. I don't even know if it's a group, duo, or single DJ. I literally stumbled across this mix on Soundcloud after someone reposted it, or liked it. I got intrigued, and pressed play. 54 minutes later I was in House heaven. And I want you to experience the same feeling. The tracklist. Yes, you are after it. So here it is: 01. COEO - 1981 02. Soul Reductions - Got 2 Be Loved (Extended Mix) 03. Justin Jay - 824 Curson Avenue 04. Spiller - Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) 05. The DJ Lawyer - Sad Girls (Original Mix) 06. Purple Disco Machine & Faithless - Let The Music Play 07. Julien Jabre - Swimming Pool (Purple Disco Machine Re-Work) 08. Angelo Ferreri - Izinque (Alesso Cala Remix) 09. COEO - Like It Is (Original Mix) 10. Hotmood - Til The Music Stops 11. Algrthm - On My Mind (Original Mix) 12. Seamus Haji - Boogie 2nite (Seamus Haji & Blackhill Extended Mix) A short but good tracklist. Only know 30% of the artists, so this mix is going to be interesting. After listening to it, I can tell you that this mix is just so good, and the records selected by The Knutsens are so good, it's hard not to be in a chill zone. I am so relaxed right now, I could just nod off as we speak. The music starts off relaxing, and continues like it. Not often do we get the chance to review House mixes, and when we do,they are always so good. I haven't come across a bad mix this year. Or ever. House is a style that you cannot go wrong with, or f*** about with. And The Knutsens' first Soundcloud mix is a success, that's for sure. I loved each and every record used for this mix. Nice throwback sounds to the golden years of Disco, but made fresh for the 2019/2020 dancefloors. I would like to continue writing, but I won't. I will stop right now. I want you to start playing this mix right now, and get into the chilled zone I am right now. No, please do not go into a freezer or stand outside butt naked: I didn't mean chilled as in cold. For God sake, just relax. That's what I'm saying. I am chilled the f*** out! - Factor B - Producer Year Mix 2019
It's been too long since I reviewed a Trance mix, and boy, did I come across a mix so good, I couldn't let this one slip by without writing a word about it? As we are all Trance lovers, certain names do appear on our timeline on Soundcloud every so often, and one of those names has to be Factor B. 2019 was his year, and it's been excellent for him, producing wise. And to end the year on a high note, he decided to fabricate his 2019 producer year mix, like he did in 2018. A good mix to end a good year with! Not really sure who's behind the name, but what I do know is that Factor B makes excellent Trance music. No wonder his music is released on a wide variety of labels, such as Subculture, Pure Trance, GO MUSIC, FSOE, and more. You are not just 'some' producer, if your music is released on those labels! But if you are unaware of Factor B's potentials, don't you worry; this mix will be a treat to you. You can thank me (and him of course) later. For now, let's dive straight into this epic hour and 10 minute long mix. You can thank me now. You are welcome! 01. The Thrillseekers & Factor B - Immerse (Immersive Intro Edit) 02. Factor B - Stardust Symphony 03. Factor B - Touch 04. Above & Beyond - Treasure (Factor B Remix) 05. Factor B - Anything (For You) 06. Neptune Project feat Polly Strange - Pulse (Factor B Remix) 07. Cold Blue - Mount Everest (Factor B's Back To Base Camp Remix) 08. Factor B - Alpha 09. Giuseppe Ottaviani & Factor B - Synergy 10. Marc Dawn - Random Walk (Factor B's Back To The Future Remix) 11. Alena - Turn It Around (Factor B's Back To The Future Remix) 12. Factor B feat Cat Martin - Crashing Over A short tracklist but a very powerful anthem filled mix! It's 71 minutes of Trance heaven, or as Factor B puts it: Proper Trance. And that is what I wanted to hear today. I needed some music to release myself to, and this mix has been a blessing. A lot of his own productions and remixes can be found in here, so there's no need for you to not fully immerse yourself into his world, and what he does. Factor B has the power to make excellent music. And these 71 minutes have been pure bliss. Only positive feedback for mr B. So many great records in this mix, but the one that did the most damage in my house was 'Mount Everest' by Cold Blue, remixed by Factor B. What a stunner! What a beast of a record. Pure Trance? Yes, it definitely is! I'm not going to spend any longer, writing words no one reads. Just press play and enjoy it! - Oldskool Hardcore Rave (3/10) - 19-12-19
It seems that the only type of music I'm finding currently on Soundcloud is Oldskool Rave music. Am I complaining? Nope, not really. I am really excited to find mixes that contain 'new' music to my ears. And seeing as I wasn't around during the heydays of UK Rave music, I have got a lot to catch up to. The other day I found a mix containing more than 130 records in an hour long mix, today it's a mix with 40 records, mixed into two hours and 10 minutes long mix. All 91 and 92 anthems. It's like we are having another Christmas day: every day we find new treats! This mix was made by Craig Scott. Unknown to me, I delved straight into the mix. This DJ has got over 30 years of mixing experience in him, so this mix should be good. Not sure if the tracks were good, half of these are unknown anthems to me. But truth be told: it's Oldskool Rave music, this should NEVER be bad. I've not come across any old Rave anthem which was bad, or unlistenable. Is unlistenable even a word? Well, not when it comes to Rave anthems. I can't find any that sucked. They are all wicked, and part of our rich Rave history. Anyway, it's time to show you the tracklist. So, as I mentioned before, it's 2 hours long, and got 40 anthems in it. Not a megamix, thankfully. One megamix per week is enough for me. Now we get full lengthed anthems. And you might know each and every anthem. Go and have a butchers! 01. Es Pee Dee & DJ Distroi - Alpha Wave 02. Rhythm Section - Dreamworld 03. Dave Charlesworth - Energizer 1A 04. Generator - Narcomaniac 05. Isotonik - Let's Get Down 06. The Sorcerer - Odyssey 07. The House Crew - We Are Hardcore (Magic Fantasy Mix) 08. Tone Def - Big Love 09. FOLS - Enviromental Health 10. DJ Trace - Inception 11. Cloud 9 - Mind Bomb 12. Resin - Make My Body Move 13. Dave Charlesworth - Energizer 2A 14. Razor Boy & Mirror Man - Beyond Cutter 15. Sy-Kick - Nasty (Remix) 37. B Traits - Fever 38. The Flashback Project - Obsession 39. Stormski - Dream Of Heaven 40. The Panacea - Hysterie This was a very pleasant mix. I've really enjoyed it. From the first to the last second it took me back to the early 90s, when Rave music was so damn good. Craig Scott, your mix is tight. And highly enjoyable! So many classics in here. That nostalgic sound just brings smiles for miles. I cannot express what the secret is behind these anthems, and you do hear that they are quite oldskool. But they still keep it sounding fresh. I can still enjoy it, even in 2019/2020. The Oldskool sound will never die, and will always remain appreciated. Even by those who were too young to understand it. You might be thinking that 2 hours is too long, but it's long enough to enjoy it. As I mentioned before, I'm not aware of at least 50% of the records used in this mix, but I have to say that none of these anthems were boring, or unexcited. Craig's mix is just what we needed on the 28th of December. Christmas is finally over, let the Oldskool sound re-emerge again! Goodbye Mariah, it's time for the Oldskool Rave to be on the radio again! A very tight mix. Got no negative comments or negative feedback, only positive ones. Brilliant mix, brilliant tunes. Everything's good about this mix. Get this down ya, right now! Ps. I couldn't download it from theartistunion.com, this is due to the server being offline? - arps - Bouncy Tigger Christmascore (2019)
Happy Third Christmas day! I don't know if that's an actual day, but somewhere on this massive planet a religion must celebrate it. And why not? Why is it only focussed on two days? We should have more days focussed on Christmas. We keep the festivities going by reviewing a new Christmas mix, made by DJ arps/arpz. Don't worry: no Tiggers were harmed during the making of this mix. So what can you expect to hear in this mix? Well, it's UK Hardcore records from big labels such as Future Breakz,Hardcore Underground, Legitimate Recordings, Kniteforce, and the newly formed Brutal Kuts. All selected by arps, and carefully mixed together. Regulars of this website know that arps/aprz's mixes are always tight and exactly what we needed to hear, so when you are looking for a wicked UK Hardcore mix, arps is your man. There's a lot of excellent and exciting stuff in his mix. A lot of Breakbeat stuff, and piano sections. Who doesn't love a piano in UK Hardcore anthems? Who doesn't love Breakbeat? If these two words excite you, don't look any further, look at the tracklist below, and press play to hear an excellent mix! 01. Darwin - Kick & Sample 02. Sam B - Move 2 The Groove 03. I've not seen or heard any of these anthems before, so it's going to be an amazing journey! arps always knows how to excite the listeners with something new and refreshing! I've had a blast listening to this. arps and Breakbeat music always go hand in hand. I can't remember when it was that I reviewed his last mix, but it must have been a long time ago. Too long ago. We need more arps/arpz. This mix contains a lot of new and exciting music coming from the UK Hardcore scene, and I'm really excited to hear the records coming out of the new label, run by Darwin. It all looks promising, and also Entity's new album. The scene is thriving on new music, and it's about time! The music that is presented to us in this mix is exciting. It keeps the flow going throughout the mix, and never gets dull. I'm really digging this direction UK Hardcore is going to, and hope this new sound is being kept alive for as long as possible. arps/arpz, your mix is as tight as expected. No negative comments. - The Hardcore Years: 1993 (2019)
Happy Boxing Day everyone! Most of us received a lot of presents, and are looking to chill today. Or go absolutely ape during the sales, but whatever you do, you stay safe. Those that have stayed at home and didn't find it necessary to go to Ikea right now, I've got a nice mix. A mix made by DJ Virus, focussed on 1993 Hardcore music. And the reason why this is a special one, is because it's a super megamix. And when I say super, I do mean super: over 130 tracks in a 60 minute long mix. That's a minimum of 2 records per minute. Would you agree that this is a super megamix? I was 10 years old in 1993, so I was too young to fully appreciate and understand music. I wasn't even aware of the majestic parties run in the UK. Don't worry, I have fully emerged myself into this 'lost' bit in my rave history, and have embraced it completely. I've been to several UK raves, but not during its heydays. The 90s, and especially the early years, were the best. The whistle crew, anyone? I've got hours of livesets, which were recorded during the early 90s, and they are really awesome. During the 90s they all used vinyl, and I'm guessing that DJ Virus didn't use vinyl. If he did, he should deserve a medal. But I'm guessing he has't: how else can you cram in so many records in 60 minutes? I won't even be able to fully hear each of the records DJ Virus has selected. This is going to be an insane mix! 01. I have to re-type the whole mix, and my fingers are genuinely hurting right now. 132 records in a 60 minute mix. Half of them I have not even noticed! That's how quick this mix is! No joke though. You are a superstar if you can hear literally each and every record, and it would be more impressive if you knew every record. DJ Virus' mix is a tight one. Really impressive stuff, if truth be told. I'm really impressed that he's done the unthinkable. I've had a blast, listening to these 1993 tunes. It was a magical year, wasn't it? For those who appreciate the early Hardcore sound, you will all say that 1991-1993 were the best years, and I fully underline that statement. I'm fully aware of the music that came from the UK back in the early 90s, but don't know each and every record. During this hour long mix I came across shitloads of unknown records, and it made me a happy man. This fully ignited my early Hardcore spark. I need more of the early years. Not being pedantic, but I don't want to typ anymore. I will let this mix speak for itself. Go and download this free mix right now. Thanks DJ Virus for a wicked mix. More of these please! - Addict - Millenium Mayhem (2019)
It's Christmas everyone! Hope you are enjoying the festive day so far. I know I have. Been treated to a few nice presents, and more are coming my way. But so far I've been spoiled. One of the presents I've found was even for free on Soundcloud! A Millennium Hardcore focussed mix, by Addict! Now, normally I would let mixes pass when there's no tracklist, but Addict was so kind to add one today, so thanks for that. And also, seeing as I'm a raver since 1993, I'd rather spend my Christmas day listening to Hardcore. Who doesn't want to hear that? I know I'm probably the only one reviewing today, but seeing as I've got plenty of time spare (what else to do? stuff your face and the turkey, and drink until you go nuts), so I thought it would be nicer to write a review about an excellent bit of Hardcore history. Millennium Hardcore is still my favourite kind of Hardcore, and even to this day it keeps me entertained. I find that the music released back around the Millennium, now nearly 20 years ago, was superb. Quality was astonishing, and it held its strength, even all these years later. DJ Addict's mix contains a lot of excellent tunes. But a few were unknowns to me, hence why I asked for a tracklist. And what I got, was a huge grin on my face. I looked like Farther Christmas, but without the face fungus. 01. The Wishmaster & Promo - Stomp Me 02. Promo - Tunnel Vision 03. Masters Of Ceremony - Acrabadacra 04. Art Of Fighters - Artwork (Tha Playah Remix) 05. DJ D - Cold As Ice (Tha Playah Remix) 06. G-Town Madness & The Viper - Come As One (Project Hardcore Anthem 2007) 07. Nosferatu & Endymion - Drunk With A Gun 08. Re-Style - Get In Crackin 2011 09. Tha Playah - I Call The Shots 10. Nitrogenetics - Inside Your Head 11. Tha Playah - Walking The Line 12. Weapon X - Planet Rocker 13. Neophyte Records -Neophyte Mashup 2 14. Evil Activities - No Place To Hide 15. Tha Playah - Why So Serious 16. Angerfist - Street Fighter (Audiofreq Remix) 17. Tha Playah - My Misery It's good that I'm writing this review: this means that the wife is cooking the turkey, and I do not need to assist her. Thanks Addict, for making my Christmas a good 'un! Let me start by saying that I never heard the first two records before. Yes, I am a Promo fan, but never come across these anthems before. I haven't got ALL his albums, to be fair. But when I heard these two, I knew I was going to be in for a treat. And boy, the mix was extremely good. But the best record has to be the first two. Having Star Wars references in your song is just epic. Come on, who disagrees? If you do, fuck off. A few small cross fading errors, but nothing major. Enjoy this mix as much as I have. It really made me happy, and I was immediately thinking of the massive CD collection I had around the Millennium, and how much guilders/euros I've spent on buying these. I think it's about time to blow the dust of them, and start raving again. And also to buy all Promo albums. How I missed these two is beyond me. Thanks Addict for composing the mix, and making the tracklist! Merry Christmas, my fellow ravers! - The Yearmix Of 2019 Presented By Beuk In Je Kanus vs Monkey Kong
Today is Christmas, the day filled with tunes by Wham!, Mariah Carey, Nick & Simon, Armin van Buuren, Slade, etc. But why though? Why not let your Christmas be ruined by awful music, and why not have something raw and rough coming through your speakers during this festive time of the year? We all like to have a great time, so why not listen to Beuk In Je Kanus vs Monkey Kong's Yearmix of 2019? Enjoy this day, and embrace the Rawstyle sound. Let's have fun, and 'ave it! I fully understand that my previous statement might offend people who love Christmas, so I do apologise. But you have to understand that in my household Christmas music is played since mid June each year, and the Skyradio app is constantly on. I'm getting annoyed now, and Chris Rea is still stuck on the motorway, finding his way home. Why not have a bit of Rawstyle instead? I've reviewed a Monkey Kong mix before, but never a Beuk In Je Kanus mix. Don't know who's responsible for this 'name' and who's behind it, but I'm guessing it's someone who appreciates the raw sound coming from the Hardstyle scene. Together they've made this megamix. 60 records in 90 minutes. The finest records 2019 had to offer. The first 25 records mixed by BIJK and the next 35 by MK. So it will be a very interesting mix. Anyway, no matter how you approach this mix: it's still a full on Rawstyle megamix, so you won't be disappointed whatsoever. Beuk In Je Kanus: 01. Sound Rush feat Michael Jo - Breakaway 02. But truth be told, the mix is nice and long too, so no worries: they haven't crammed in 60 records in 90 minutes. Oh God, they have! Bloody Nora, what a mix! A true Christmas blessing, a true megamix for all you Rawstyle fanatics out there. I wanted to use the word freak, but I do not want to offend anyone. The mix is made up two mixes, as mentioned before, but there's no seam between both of them. It's a nicely blended mix. BIJK and MK have made this wonderful mix, showcasing what 2019 had in store for us. Reminding us that it's been one hell of a year, and if this trend continues, 2020 will be an even better year. I do like the raw sound, and sometimes you just want to stomp your feet so hard, that blisters appear out of nowhere. But a melodic Rawstyle track is sometimes more my cup of tea. Basically the majority of D-Sturb's records are my thing, they are my jam. And by looking at the mix it also shows that it has been his year. My God, there's a lot of D-Sturb's stuff in here. Are BIJK and MK fans of D-Sturb too? Well, who wouldn't be? It's time now for us all to open our presents that Father Christmas has brought to our lovely homes, and I'm not going to talk any more about this hour and a half long mix. Let's just embrace it, and listen to it today. Turn the volume up to 50, and be festive. Fuck the neighbours, who likes them anyway? - Mello Mix (2019)
The first END OF YEAR mix I have found is made by the biggest EDM DJ in the world right now, Marshmello. And to show you how big he is (not his actual size I'm talking about though): 10 days ago this mix got uploaded, and already has got 139K+ plays at this moment! Most mixes on Soundcloud are struggling to get more than 1000 plays, but this is a Marshmello mix: obviously it immediately gains attention, and 616 reactions to his mix can be found on Soundcloud. He's so huge: we've gone passed the stage where we are wondering who's behind the mask, and just consider him 'human'. Even though the mask hides the true identity, we are not bothered about that, we are more focussed on the music. Truth be told, I've got a love-hate relationship with EDM. Maybe it's a generation thing, but I want to hear awesome music performed by awesome artists who take the scene seriously. We've seen many clowns over the years, who have sadly put a downer on my attitude towards EDM. That's why I have this relationship. Many people find it funny, but I do not. We all know which artists I'm talking about, but hey: as long as you enjoy it, why shouldn't you? I thought I should give this mix a go, seeing as it's quite a while since I last reviewed an EDM mix. And the tags underneath the mix made it even more interesting: this mix contains Dance, Dance Pop, Dubstep, Trap, and of course EDM. This is going to be interesting: I've lost touch on who's who in the EDM world, and not familiar with most songs being released nowadays. So this is for me a reintroduction. Could be interesting? 01. Marshmello & Kane Brown - One Thing Right (KDrew Remix) 40. What So Not & Diablo - OOGAHDAM! 41. Marshmello feat YUNGBLUD & Blackbear - Tongue Tied This is a full on EDM mix, as you would expect from Marshmello. If you don't know who he is, then you are really too young, or maybe too old. But even this crazy Dutchman knows about his existence. But does that mean this mix is good, or is it bad? Well, I've got mixed feelings. Yes, even after listening to it, I've got this mix feeling going through my system. I do like a bit of EDM, but some records do not make any sense. Not to put a downer on things, it's still nice and mello mix (see what I did there), but some records just didn't make me move whatsover. For example Alesso's 'PROGRESSO'. I would have expected one member of the former Swedish House Mafia to make something extraordinary, and yet it sounds extremely dull. But am I being too negative? Yes, I am. It's still enjoyable. Don't get me wrong: if I would be at a Marshmello concert/gig, I would still put my hands in the air. I like the good atmosphere he puts out towards the crowd, and some of the records selected do truly demolish speakers. He starts off with a wicked record, if truth be told. And the record that got me the most is 'We Were Young'. I love the mellowed down mood you get, the second the record hits you. But it's not really big event-ish, isn't it? A good mix, to be fair. He knows how to please the masses, and that's why he's such a crowd pleaser. The set is nice, some records really ear pleasing. All in all a nice set. Would have expected a bit more from certain artists, seeing as they know better. But I still listened to it, and enjoyed it. - Kern 8 - The Ghost Of Christmas Arse (2019)
Christmas is nearly happening. And why not end this 'normal' section of the year with a really funny, quirky, and somehow ridicilous mix? I think I have found the perfect weird mix, one I have not come across in a long time. Christmas and Gabber/Breakcore? Does that even exist? It turns out that this is indeed a thing, and in Germany, in Hamburg, they had a party focussed on the Weihnacht, which is Christmas, or Christmas eve? Not sure, my German language knowledge is limited, but it's all festive, so when I found this promo mix for this event I was a bit excited. I wanted to hear something festive, and boy, did I find just that! But also really perculiar. This was not what I wanted to hear, but secretly had to listen to. And by doing so, I have offended my wife by playing it. She's a huge Christmas fanatic, and when she heard the first song, which is a remix of Wham!'s 'Last Christmas', she was appalled. Not a fan of Gabber in the first place, she was kind of upset. But I stuck two fingers in the air, and raved away. Why not have fun during this festive season? Isn't this what Christmas is about? I don't know anything about this event, or who made this mix. It was recorded about 9 days ago in Hamburg, and I'm guessing by the way how the title is made, that this mix is made by Kern 8? If you are familiar with this event, please elaborate on it. I would appreciate it. The tracklist... well, doesn't make any sense. But here you go: 01. X-ecute - Last Xmas 02. It does make any sense. It was recorded at 205 BPM, which is already extremely fast, but towards the end it becomes unusually quick. Not even the fastest man alive can dance to those beats and basses. Still enjoyable. Again, I know nothing about this event, but it looks like it was all done in good fun. If you wanted an unusual Gabber party, this is the one you should have gone to. Sadly it has already happened 3 days ago, but if you went, I'm guessing you are still recovering, if this was the kind of music you would expect to hear at this event. Fuck me, this is unusual. Quirky doesn't not fully describe this mix. I would urge you, if you want something out of the ordinary to listen to, press play. I still have to listen to it a few times to understand it, but the beginning was alright, but towards the end it becomes a clusterfuck. Don't know what to say. Have a listen to it yourself. - The Futureworld Mix - 22-12-2019
It's nearly time for Christmas to happen, so we'll end on a high note. We've had some amazing mixes throughout the year, and especially now we are seeing a lot of year mixes, sadly most of them do not come with any tracklist. I've been listening to quite a few this morning, and then I stumbled across this mix by DJ Threat on Soundcloud. A Futureworld Records mix, made 2 days ago. Now we all know I am a fan of FW, and sadly haven't seen anything come out of this label for a while now, but I'm still digging the music they have released when the brand dominated the scene. So this is a nice treat. I think, and that's a personal view on it, the music that was created and released when FW was around, had potential to become big. This Dubcore sound really appealed to me, but sadly it received a lot of negative feedback too. I remember when Clubland X-Treme Hardcore 8 (was it 8? not sure) was released and people just dissed the album completely. It was a shame, I really liked the music. I still listen to it, and I would like to re-introduce people to this lost UK Hardcore sub genre. Why not? It's awesome! The tracklist contains a lot of excellent dancefloor smashers. Here it is: 01. Macks Wolf - Galleon 02. Modulate feat Jay Jacob - Call Me 03. Dougal & Gammer feat Hannah Faulkner - Knight In Shining Armour 04. Mark Breeze & MOB - Is It Too Late (MOB Remix) 05. Darren Styles - Talk 06. Jakka-B & Summa Jae - Talk 07. Modulate feat MC Static - Maniac 08. Hixxy & Re-Con - Superhuman 09. Petruccio & Modulate feat Marie Louise - Escape 10. Breeze & Modulate - Inside Out 11. Re-Con - Gyroscope 12. Petruccio & Modulate feat Marie Louise - Missing (Gammer Remix) 13. Petruccio & Modulate feat Marie Louise - I Need You 14. Darren Styles & Gammer - Paranoia 15. Petruccio & Modulate feat Mark Slammer - High On You 16. Macks Wolf & Jakka-B - Islands In The Sky 17. Michael Scout - Mind Body Soul 18. Darren Styles & Dougal - Don't Give Up 19. Petruccio feat Mark Slammer - Side By Side 20. Darren Styles - Xfer 21. Gammer feat Michael Scout - Bye Bye A wonderful looking tracklist, and after typing it, I went onto the magestic Google, and found out that the label was alive longer than expected! I was expecting it to have seized mid 10s, but they have released up onto 2017 (as far as Discogs is correct). I didn't expect that, but truth be told, I haven't seen many FW posts for a while now. We are coming up to three years without FW. Sad. But anyway, let's stay positive, and remind ourselves on the excellent releases they have had. We all know that the majority of these artists have become global superstars, like Darren Styles and Gammer, but back when FW ruled, they still rocked the UK Hardcore scene with wonderful anthems. But to me it was the legendary duo Petruccio & Modulate who's sound appealed the most to me. I remember their album being released and the amount of mixes made to show people's appreciation, it was amazing! Their sound was truly breathtakingly beautiful, and it made TCD happy. And even in 2019 it makes me happy. DJ Threat's mix has 21 amazing records in it. And seeing as I'm a P&M fan, I obviously have selected one of their records as my favourite: 'Missing', remixed by DJ Gammer. What a beast of a record. Even in 2019/2020 it will cause dangerous moments on the dancefloor. What a belter! Small mixing errors are present in this mix, and also the music completely cutting out towards the end of the mix. But nothing major. You can still appreciate this mix, as much as I have. Enjoy it, and have a merry Christmas everyone! - Evolution Records Showcase (10.04.2017)
Only a day or so ago I reviewed a mix focussed on the magestic label Evolution Records, and DJ Audioholik reminded me on Facebook that he made a mix about 10 months ago, also a Evolution Records showcase mix. Normally I would respond by saying I am not reviewing two similar mixes, but in this case I couldn't let it go by. So here's the second Evolution Records mix review, and it's a good one. The first one was a slamming mix, but this second one has got more records that I like, and missed in the first mix. The first being only 4 minutes longer, but containing less records. For this mix, Audioholik decided to use 24 of Scott's finest records. Scott being of course the King of UK Hardcore, Scott Brown. So what's in store for us all? 24 amazing records, a 1 hour and 15 minute long mix. And all focussed on Evolution Records and the UK Hardcore sound that emerged from it. Is it any better or similar or worst than the first mix I reviewed, made by DJ M@rt!n-J? Well, you can compare, both have got tracklists, and here it goes: 01. Scott Brown - Out Of My Brain (Original Mix) 02. Scott Brown & Cat Knight - All About You (Original Mix) 03. Scott Brown - Push It (Music Please) 04. Plus System - Let's All Get Down (Original Mix) 05. Scott Brown - Definition Of A Bad Boy (Original Mix) 06. Plus System - Blue Anthem (Original Mix) 07. Scott Brown - Hardcore Is The Future (Original Mix) 08. Plus System - Do It Like We Do (Original Mix) 09. Scott Brown - Neckbreaker (Plus System Mix) 10. Plus System - This Is How We Do It (Original Mix) 11. Scott Brown - Hardcore Hustler (Hardcorevolution Mix) 12. Plus System - Serial Killer (Oirginal Mix) 13. Scott Brown - Protoplasm (Original Mix) 14. Plus System - Rhythm Machine (Original Mix) 15. Q-Tex - Like An Angel (Original Mix) 16. Scott Brown - Taking Drugs (Original Mix) 17. Plus System - Prince Of Darkness (Original Mix) 18. Scott Brown - We're Droppin' This (Scott Brown Mix) 19. Plus System - Make You Freak (Original Mix) 20. Scott Brown - Make The Beat Drop (Original Mix) 21. Plus System - Bassline Of The Century (Original Mix) 22. Scott Brown - The Stranger (Original Mix) 23. Plus System - Dehumanize (Original Mix) 24. Scott Brown - Hardcore U Know The Score (Original Mix) What an amazing tracklist! This is what I was looking for! 23 amazing records, truly astonishing tracklist. And all from the mind of the legendary Scotchman, DJ Scott Brown a.k.a Q-Tex a.k.a. Plus System. Now, you might be wondering why I say 23 and not 24? Well, it's got the worst SB record of all time in it, one I simply detest because the original records the lyrics were taken from, is simply the worst record of all time, and I never liked the band anyway. OK, cut to the chase, it's 'Do It Like We Do'. Is it the Bloodhound Gang? Horrible lyrics. Dreadful band. Nothing that they have made would make me happy. The lyrics are stupid, and ruin the brilliant UK Hardcore sound that only Scott Brown knows how to make. But that's the only negative of this mix. The best of the best, and I've said it a million times, is 'Make You Freak' by Plus System. Such a catchy and memorable anthem. Doesn't matter where I am: whenever I hear it, it brings a smile on my face, and I cannot stop enjoying life as we know it (see what I did there?). Audioholik's previous mix was a good 'un, and this one is seriously also as good, maybe even better. Seeing as I'm a full on UK Hardcore fanatic and a huge Scott Brown fan, this mix has made my day! Two Evolution Records mixes in 2 days. The wife must be thinking I've gone mad? Who cares anyway: Evolution Records 24/7, 365 days of the year! Hell yeah! Thanks Audioholik for a wicked mix! Really enjoyed it! - The Best Of DJ Q 2010 - 2019
DJ Q, the all round UKG legend, who doesn't know him? If you are not aware of who he is, I wonder if you are a true UKG fanatic. DJ Q has been pushing UKG for many years, and has been at the forefront of it when it emerged onto the world. We all know at least 1 DJ Q song. You must know his biggest hit to date 'You Wot'?, featuring MC Bonez. If you are unaware of this song too, you are probably way too young, but thankfully it's not too late to start investigating your time into DJ Q's back story and his catalogue of awesome music. And this mix could be very helpful, to be fair. If I'm correct, he had a special night at Phonox on the 20th or 21st, not sure. But seeing as the event already took place, he removed the original flyer as picture on Soundcloud, and still kept this mix online. Why not? It contains shitloads of his tunes, released from 2010 until this year. You get a wide variety of his own tunes, from UK Bassline to Deep House stuff. DJ Q ruled through this decade, and this mix shows us all why he's a boss. This mix does not only contains records made by him, but also records remixed by him. And seeing as this is 80 minutes of DJ Q, you will be surely pleased that I notified you of this mix and of its existence. You will feel very wobbly from the first to the last second. 01. DJ Q - 99 02. Higher Self feat Lauren Mason - Ghosts (DJ Q Remix) 03. DJ Q - Poison 04. Sia - Little Man (DJ Q Edit) 05. DJ Q feat Dread MC - Snapchat VIP 06. Koffee - Rapture (DJ Q Remix) 07. DJ Q - Danger 08. Jaheim - Just In Case (DJ Q Edit) 09. Devi - You & Me (DJ Q Remix) 10. Donae'O - Black (DJ Q Remix) 11. DJ Q & Flava D - My Bae 12. DJ Q - Go Home 2010 13. Moksi - What I Like (DJ Q Remix) 14. DJ Q - Move On 15. DJ Q - Madness 16. DJ Q - All Junglist 17. DJ Q - Ordinary People 18. DJ Q - Time To Shine 19. DJ Q - Will I Ever Be Free 20. Jack Ü feat Justin Bieber - Where Are Ü Now (DJ Q Edit) 21. DJ Q - More Than You 22. DJ Q - Notice Me 23. DJ Q - Breathe 24. DJ Q - Sonic 25. New York Transit Authority - 95 (DJ Q Remix) 26. DJ Q - Stingray 27. Spooky - Baby (DJ Q Remix) 28. DJ Q feat Kai Ryder - Be Mine 29. DJ Q & Jamie Duggan - Countdown 30. DJ Q - Dibby Dibby Sound 31. Royal-T - Cool Down (DJ Q Remix) 32. DJ Q - Mash Up 33. DJ Q - My Heart 34. DJ Q - Reflex 35. Swindle feat Ricardo China - Conecta (DJ Q Remix) 36. TQD - Hold Me (DJ Q Remix) 37. Groove Armada - Superstylin (DJ Q Edit) 38. DJ Q & Flava D - PS 39. DJ Q - Rocky 40. Tyla feat Kelli-Leigh - Deeper (DJ Q Remix) 41. Drake feat Jhene Aiko - From Time (DJ Q Edit) 42. Tough Love feat Genuwine - Pony (Jump On It) (DJ Q Remix) 43. Charly Black & J Capri - Whine & Kotch (DJ Q Edit) 44. DJ Q & AC Slater - Oh Yeah 45. DJ Q - Brandy & Coke 46. DJ Q & Jack Junior - Red Alert 47. My Nu Leg feat Iyamah - Senses (DJ Q Remix) 48. Toddla T feat Shola Ama - Take It Back (DJ Q Remix) 49. S-X - Woooo Riddim (DJ Q Remix) 50. Jammz feat Aleisha Lee - Who's That Girl 51. Wolfie - Contradiction 52. DJ Q feat Louise Williams - Trust Again (Karl 'Tuff Enuff' Brown Remix) 53. DJ Q & Finn - Baby I Don't Know 53 records in 80 minutes. Pfff, a full on megamix, isn't it? And of course, it being a DJ Q mix, it's all flawless. But the good thing is, you will hear and see DJ Q's progression throughout this decade, and all the styles he's been working with. From the funny records like 'Sonic' and 'Rocky' to the serious dancefloor smashers, you will find everything in here! And that's why this is such a nice and relaxing mix to hear, just before the festive time of year's about to happen. Who needs Christmas when you have this? One hour and 18 minutes of everything DJ Q related. I'd rather listen to this than anything else. I've woken up extremely early today, to listen to this mix. Give it an hour and 18 minutes, and it's been a pleasant journey, truth be told. DJ Q knows how to make 'wobbly' anthems, and has been the dancefloor master for longer than a decade. I've got only love and admiration to give this man. I hope that those who went to Phonox had a brilliant night. For those that didn't go and want to hear some Q, press play right now! You won't be disappointed. His quick mixing skills are really coming alive in this mix, and there's no time for you to relax: DJ Q has got you by the balls, and won't let go. He keeps you dancing constantly. Best record? It was difficult, but I do like 'Take It Back', made by Toddla T and Shoala Ama, remixed by DJ Q. Such a tune. Can't believe it's nearly a decade old! A wonderful mix, but I wouldn't expect anything else from this UKG legend! - DJ Casketkrusher @ Nightscape Festival #1 (01-08-2015)
Casketkrusher. The man who lives and breathes Happy Hardcore. He is Happy Hardcore. And the reason why I stumbled onto one of his mixes today, was because I was looking for 'Forbes & Cylcone - Full Force' on Soundcloud. At the moment that's my favourite Happy Hardcore anthem, and I heard it in another mix. It reminded me of the fantastic 90s Happy Hardcore era. And also, how many times have I used the two words Happy and Hardcore in this paragraph? Fuck me. I've been following Casketkrusher for a few years now, and he's always impressed me hugely. His dedication of making sure that the legacy remains alive is truly admirable. So he's one of my most favourite present day Happy Hardcore DJs. And with thousands of followers on Soundcloud and hundreds of songs on it, he's not going anywhere. The mix I'm going to talk about, is a liveset, recorded at Nightscape Festival, back in 2015. I cannot find any information online about this event, so I cannot comment about it, or even write about other people's experience of this event. So let's delve straight into the tracklist. For those searching for Happy Hardcore anthems, you will be pleased to see it. 01. Midas - Groove Control (12" Mix) 02. Q-Tex - Get On The Floor 03. Technotrance - YRS Stomp (Hyperact Remix) 04. DJ Dell vs Scott Brown - Inferno (Original Mix) 05. Neurotek - Excelebration 06. Bass Reaction - Technophobia (Power Mix) 07. Seduction & Dougal - Better Days (12" Mix) 08. Technosis - Panic 09. Scott Brown - Live Your Life 10. Lord Of Hardcore - Work That Sukka! (Bass Control Mix) 11. The Scotchman - Life Force 12. Sonicdriver - Lethal Breaks 13. Stingray - Power Of Darkness 14. The Jokers - Arrow Of Death 15. Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Live At London (Hardcore Mix) 16. Unsatisfied Evil II - Bad Creations 17. The Partyman - Take It Easy 18. Forbes & Cyclone - Full Force 19. DJ Sim - Straight Of The Dancefloor 20. The Prophet - 4 Buffalo's I always wonder how Casketkrusher finds these gems. I do not know how he does it. Sometimes he plays records I've not even come across before. I always thought that I knew everything there was about Happy Hardcore, but the crown has to go to Casketkrusher, the true Happy Hardcore master. For this unknown event he played for 45 minutes, and within those 45 minutes he played 20 excellent tunes. Ranging from nice European Happy Hardcore to UK Happy Hardcore. You can hear the difference between both sounds. But he perfectly blended them together, and the result is an astonishing mix. Of course he had to play the big records, but also shitloads of obscure and darker anthems. It was nice to hear these anthems in a short mix, and even though I would normally have difficulties to pick a favourite, I've got to go for the record I described earlier: 'Full Force' by Forbes and Cyclone. What a beast anthem, seriously underrated. Another amazing set by Casketkrusher. Seriously impressive. My all-time Happy Hardcore hero. - A Journey Through Evolution Records (2019)
DJ M@rt!n-J is back with another mix. We all know that he loves to make mixes, mostly dedication/appreciation mixes, and this time he's made one for the magical label that the UK raving community loves and has embraced since the mid 90s: Evolution Records. Run by the mighty Scott Brown, this label has seen the biggest and most respected UK Hardcore anthems being released by the man himself, and not just records made by himself, but also along a few big names such as Brisk, Cat Knight, Kelly C, and many more. To me, this is the most important label in the UK Hardcore history. Would you agree? M@rt!n-J has made many excellent mixes, which I cannot find on Soundcloud anymore (sadly), but I know for sure that everyone will appreciate his latest one. As I said before, this label is important to all of us, and it has been a stable label, bringing us true raving anthems, and you will see that M@rt!n-J has selected 19 excellent anthems. All made by the King of UK Hardcore, Scott Brown. This is his last mix of 2019, but don't worry: he'll be back in 2020 with a lot of new and exciting mixes. But for now, let's focus on Evolution Records, and an hour and 20 minutes long mega mix! And the mix will make you extremely happy. Unless you dislike Scott Brown. And if you do, why are you reading this? Are you even human? 01. Scott Brown - This Is How We Do It (Intro Mix) 02. Scott Brown - Make The Beat Drop 03. Scott Brown - Definition Of A Badboy (Hardcorevolution Mix) 04. Scott Brown - The Stranger 05. Plus System - Bassline Of The Century 06. Scott Brown feat DMO - Call My Name 07. Plus System - Darkness 08. Scott Brown - Why Should You Live 09. Scott Brown - Code 10. Scott Brown - Neckbreaker (Essential Platinum Mix) 11. Scott Brown - Please Don't Cry 12. Scott Brown feat Robert Francis - Time To Runaway 13. Scott Brown - Life As We Know It 14. Plus System - Serial Killer 15. Scott Brown - Hardcore Hustler 16. Scott Brown & Marc Smith - The Judgement 17. Scott Brown - Take A Final Breath 18. Scott Brown - We Can Dance 19. Scott Brown - Boomstick Pornographic material. That's what the above tracklist is to me. If you want to get me aroused, you just need to show me a mix with Evolution Records in it, and I'm done. I think that each and every record in this mix is a masterpiece, a true Hardcore anthem. That's the magic behind Scott Brown and his label. He made extremely melodic tunes, and he makes them so well, that even years after its initial release, the tune will still be recognised by the mainstream followers and still appreciated by the masses. I think that M@rt!n-J's mix will be a good one for those who love UK Hardcore, and it might become his biggest mix up to date. Don't get me wrong: his previous mixes were really good too, but this one just reaches the top. I've been a Scott Brown fan for many decades (since the early 90s, when he released Dutch Gabber music), and have bought many albums of him. His music always speaks to me more than other artists. And this mix symbolises how great the man is. It was difficult to pick the best record in this mix. There are sooo many. But I'll take the safe option and say 'Boomstick'. A no-nonsense record, typical Rotterdam sound, and not only loved by the UK Hardcore masses, but also the Gabber community. Simple, yet very effective. As usual, get this mix, and enjoy it, as much as I have. It's for free too (downloadable), so yes, Christmas has come early. And give not only Scott Brown love and appreciation by liking and buying everything he does, but also M@rt!n-J, for making excellent mixes! - Mark Sherry - Christmas Bangers (December 2019)
Christmas is about to happen. Next week it's the most festive time of year, and we will all be submerged in thousands of presents. And let's not forget the food. Oh boy, the food. Christmas, what are we actually celebrating? I completely forgot the meaning of Christmas. What I do know, is that Soundcloud is our friend before and after Christmas. No one posts anything on Christmas day, but before and after you will see a lot of free mixes. Sometimes month mixes, sometimes even year mixes. And I found one for you all. A brilliant mix by Mark Sherry. And it's hard and rough. I had to Google who Mark Sherry is, what his background story is. I've seen a bit here and there, but never delved into his past. And it turned out to be an interesting one. Public Domain anyone? Nah, not the Gabber group from the mid 90s, but the hit machine who had the smash hit 'Operation Blade' in 1999. And not only that, he had shit loads of records released on big labels such as Armada, High Contrast, Spinnin, and Outburst Records, to name just a few. It's someone who knows a thing or two about music. So it's no secret that this mix is going to be a good 'un. If you were hoping for a nice mellowed out Trance mix, you are going to be disappointed. This mix has got everything you could wish for: Techno, Hard House, Trance, and other styles I cannot name because I can't be arsed. A few of his own productions in here, so a very nice treat from mr Sherry. Christmas has come early this year! 01. O.R.B. - Liquid 999 (Original Mix) 02. Tobias Lueke - Elements (Original Mix) 03. A.S.Y.S. & T78 - AC_ID (Original Mix) 04. DJ One Finger - One Finger (O.R.B. Remix) 05. Thick As Thieves - Collide (Extended Mix) 06. Mark Sherry & KETNO - Space Monkey (Extended Mix) 07. i_o - Rave 444 (Original Mix) 08. Mark Sherry & Tempo Giusto - Celestial Body (Extended Mix) 09. Tiesto - Carpe Noctum (Mark Sherry Extended Remix) 10. Mark Sherry - Sangre Caliente (Scot Project Remix) 11. EverLight - Extortion (Original Mix) 12. Richard Tanselli - Let Me Take You (Extended Mix) 13. Gentech - Change Your Heart (Extended Mix) 14. Renegade System - Hedgehog (Extended Mix) 15. Scot Project - H (Hypnotise) (Extended Mix) A wonderful mix. It won't get you in the Xmas zone, but it's still something good to listen to. If you were hoping for Christmas bangers, in the sense of Techno/Trance remixes of Christmas songs, you will be disappointed. Severly disappointed. But I'm guessing there must be some sort of mix for those people online. But for now, it's a full on Techno/Trance mix with seriously impressive anthems. They will surely get us all through the festive season. It's Friday, and I always have to go through the Dartford tunnel home, and my journey is every day 65 miles to and from work. So plenty of time to listen to music. And this mix, sadly, was played 2 1/2 times today whilst driving. The journey itself was absolutely dreadful, but the music was good, and got me through the journey. So many great records selected by Mark Sherry, and carefully mixed together. I can only give credit to Mark for making this wicked mix. And it's just jam packed with 15 amazing records. Yes, the Techno sound is amazing, but the Trancey records are the ones killing it for me in this mix. Especially the last record. Scot Project, who can hate what this man produces? He's a dancefloor anthem machine, and with 'H' he has simply done it again. I'm truly fascinated by his producing skills. Get this mix down ya. Have a glass of wine, or whatever beverage you prefer, open a pack of Xmas chocolates, and enjoy yourself. You need this mix. And I did too. I am happier for finding this absolute monster of a mix! - Progression Attack 29 (2019)
The mix you are about to listen to, should have had its review a month or so ago. I came across this mix by DJ Slipstream on Soundcloud, favorited it, but didn't do anything with it. And that's a shame, and I've only got myself to blame. To make a dull and boring story short: I was on the M25 today for a couple of hours, on my way home, starting going through my saved mixes, and came across this one. I gave it a go, and was deeply surprised about it. This is not my first Slipstream mix. Can't remember when I reviewed his previous mix, but it must have been a while ago. So long ago, that I do not think it's even on this new website, but the old and dilapidated website, which isn't active anymore. Hence why it was time for me to review yet another awesome mix by Slipstream. Not much is known about this DJ, but I do know that his Progressive House/Trance mix contains a lot of dangerous and interesting records. Ones I've never even heard before, or have come across. A nice and relaxing mix is what you are after? Don't you worry, my son, DJ Slipstream has got you covered! An hour's long mix with 13 beautiful records. Leave that up to him to do that. 01. Ryan Mendoza & Mitka - Dark City (Original Mix) 02. Emerge - The Force (Extended Mix) 03. Kolonie - Polaroid (Extended Mix) 04. ZGOOT - Open Heart (Original Mix) 05. ZGOOT - Legend 06. Kolonie & Unterberg - Reasons (Club Mix) 07. Jaytech - On Your Roof (Original Mix) 08. Raphael Mayers & Casper Salary - Rise Up (Lesh Remix) 09. Roman Hope - Sunny June 10. Cosmic Gate - Human Beings (Rolo Green Extended Mix) 11. Kataploks - Busan (Extended Mix) 12. Adam Sein - Dreamers (Astrevea Remix) 13. Eximinds - Shadows (Ron Veldt Remix) An excellent mix. It has to be said. And truth be told, if you haven't come across any of his mixes before, now is the time to start listening to them. He's got quite a few mixes on his Soundcloud page, and obviously I haven't gone through them all, but if you are interested in more of this kind of music, you will not be disappointed. The mix contains 13 unknown records to me. Never heard them before. Never seen them in another mix before. Or do I know any of these artists, besides Cosmic Gate of course. But maybe it's got something to do with the fact that I've not listened to enough Trance music lately. I should do listen to more Trance, or even Progressive House music. I can only give Slipstream credit for this excellent mix. No more words shall be mentioned, only ones stating that you need to download this mix, and enjoy it, as much as I have enjoyed it! And I do like each and every records selected by Slipstream. Brilliant mix! - It's Beginning To Sound A Lot Like Christmas (2017)
It's Christmas. Well, nearly. It's that time of year though, when everyone goes mad. The shops are crammed with unnecessary items people want to buy, queues in front of the tills, manic atmosphere everywhere, and whilst doing all of that, you've got your standard Christmas stations on, blurting out the usual Christmas tunes. I do not mind that, because I'm quite addicted to the tunes, but sometimes you want to hear something else. And seeing as I'm a raver, why not listen to some Hardcore Xmas songs? Yes, that is actually a thing. Xmas Gabber/Hardcore. And it's cheesy as hell. The legendary page on Soundcloud History Of Happy Hardcore made this mix 2 years ago, and I think I have already reviewed it last year. This could be a re-occurring thing. Review every year of this mix. There aren't many other Xmas mixes on Soundcloud focussed on Gabber, so when you do find one, hold on tight, and have a laugh. It's obviously the worst of the worst Gabber music out there, but it's fun. As we say in the Netherlands 'met een knipoog' you should approach this mix (read= with a wink). Don't take the tunes seriously. Don't think it's the highest quality rave anthems, but instead it's something different from the usual Christmas songs. Yes, they are cheesy. Boy, they are. Don't know where HOHH has found all of these, but I do remember one 'Rave The Xmas' album, which contained a few of these records. Bad as hell, but I still did my dance to it. Come on, Scrooge, let's all laugh, and rave at the same time. If the tracklist and the mix itself don't make you happy, what will? 01. Rotterdam Termination Source - Merry X-Mess 02. The S.T. Noise Gate - The Magic Sack There was a time in our rave history when producers thought it was a GREAT and WICKED idea to make Gabber music for the holiday season. It was such a silly idea, and I do not think they sold many CDs to be fair. It was a joke. But the weird thing is, that we are still listening to it, 20+ years later. Were these tunes not released around 1993-1994? Or even after that? Yeah, this is the bit I would wish I'd forget. The embarrassment of being young, and listening to this at school, being beaten up for listening to it. What a horrible music. I do like it though. It's a secret admiration I've got for cheesy music. Some cheesy stuff I can handle, and this X-Mas Gabber stuff is just up my street. It's still hard enough for me to enjoy it.And HOHH have made this interesting mix, which I will listen to on a yearly basis. Maybe even at Easter, why not? It's Christmas all year round! I can go on and on about how bad and good this mix is, but seeing as you are reading this, why are you in the first place? Just press play, and have a ball. Have a laugh and a giggle. Please do not make any more X-Mas Gabber music, this is enough for me for 2019. Pfff, I would go mad if I hear any more of this stuff. The best tunes? There are actually three! 'Marry X-Mass' by the Triplets, 'No Sleep T'ill X-mass' by D & F, and 'The Magic Sack' by Noise Gate. Just pure filth! Merry Christmas everyone! - Abyss - Classic Kniteforce Records Mix (2012)
7 years ago I reviewed this mix. Yes, I've been doing this for a few years now, and recently I got tagged in a post on Facebook by the man who made this mix back in 2012, DJ Abyss. Obviously times have changed, and the majority of mixes I've reviewed have been removed, or deleted. After I got tagged, I asked if he still had the mix online, and yes, the mix is still available on another platform, this time you can find the mix on Hearthis. It's the original mix from 2012, and yes, it does come with a tracklist. And isn't that what we all want to see? I cannot believe I've been doing this reviewing business around a decade now. And I can't even remember what my first ever review was (I am ashamed), But over the years I've reviewed hundreds, maybe even thousands of mixes. And it's a shame that some mixes, which are really amazing, are deleted due to whatever reason. And this Abyss mix should never be deleted. Kniteforce records has been a tremendous part in our rave history. This label has given us so many memorable tunes, which Abyss has selected for his excellent mix. All the classic anthems from the golden years of Kniteforce have been mixed together. If this doesn't get you smiling for miles, what does? The tracklist will be a throwback to the golden years of Breakbeat Hardcore. A few of these anthems appeared on Happy Hardcore albums in the Netherlands, hence why I do know the label, and why it has been part of my rave history (read: youth). Not knowing the difference back then in Happy Hardcore and Breakbeat, I just called everything Happy Hardcore. I know I was wrong. We all made mistakes in the past, have we not? 01. Luna-C - Edge Of Madness (Sublove Remix) 02. Alk-E-D - Selector 03. Future Primitive - Twinkie 04. Poosie & Cru-L-T - Hear Me, Hear Me 05. DJ Force & The Evolution - Lost It 06. I just love to delve into rave history, and to find out who used an alias that I'm familiar with, but never knew who was responsible for it. Anyway, back to the mix. It's a big one, with all the recognisable anthems from the wicked and awesome label Kniteforce. If you were looking for piano focussed records with a nice Breakbeat sound, Kniteforce is your label. In this hour long mix Abyss selected the finest and most loved Kniteforce anthems, and the result is a wicked hour of pure bliss. I can go on for hours, but I won't I will let the mix speak for itself. You do not need to know the ins- and outs of this mix, you just need to hear it. A wicked mix, and I've really enjoyed hearing it 7 years after I've initially reviewed it. I do not remember which anthem I selected as the best one 7 years ago, but I'm still a fan of Slipmatt's remix of 'Take Me Away'. Still a dancefloor smasher! Go check out this monster mix, and download it for free! Yep, it's for free too! Have a wicked Sunday with the finest Breakbeat records ever made! - Old School Classic Set Stranger At Rotterdam Rave Festival (18-08-18)
Stranger, is a complete stranger to me. I've reviewed one of his livesets before, but still I haven't found the time to dulge myself into who he is, and where he's from. Basically, I haven't Google him yet. But I keep seeing stuff from him online. And yesterday was such a day. I found this set, uploaded onto Soundcloud, recorded at Rotterdam Rave last year, and I immediately fell in love with this set. I wasn't familiar with the event, but I don't live in the Netherlands anymore, nor am I from Rotterdam or surrounding areas. But if you play at an event where Speedy J and Nina Kraviz play, the event must have been good. This set got my attention because it's got the word 'Old School' in it, and you know I'm a sucker for the early, older sound. And once I pressed play, a new world opened up to me. Sadness and misery were immediately changed into happiness and excitement. 2 hours of early stuff, ranging from Hardcore to Techno, from Breakbeat to well... whatever floats your boat. Stranger's set has got some excellent tunes in here, and very tightly mixed together. Most of these records we all know, but simply haven't heard in a while. The tracklist is a must-see for those early sound lovers. You will immediately feel 25+ years younger. It has a nice oldskool vibe that I like, even though not all the records are old. It's a nice mix & mash of old and new, but certainly maintaining the early sound. Techno all the way! 01. Poltering Rhythm Trax - Armed Conflict 02. Tellurians - The Navigator 03. Stranger - Take Control 04. Kid Unknown - Nightmare 05. Dax J - Warp 06. Overdog - Fuck You Up 07. Debo - On The Flo (Ju Edit) 08. Envoy - Dark Manoeuvres 09. Joey Beltram - Flash Cube 10. Bodylotion - Make You Dance If you were at this event, and experienced this set, please tell me that you raved like it was 1990! My God, how can you sit still when you hear this awesome set? 2 hours of nostalgia, 2 hours of pure pleasure. And 2 hours of sometimes the weirdest names: Sperminator? House Pimps? Tinfoil? Who comes up with that? Who sat behind their computer and thought 'my artist name is Sperminator'? Anyway, all jokes aside, Stranger's set is a big one. If you love Techno and everything related ot Techno, you are in for a treat. 2 hours of excellent tunes, and it has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions. From sheer happiness to anger. Anger in the sense that I wanted to stomp the floor so hard, my feet would go through it. Seriously, when you've got records by all time legends like Carl Cox, Joey Beltram, DJ Hooligan, Umek, The Prodigy, Speedy J, how is it that you can hear this set and NOT want to rave the night away? I found it difficult during my journey home today to NOT drive silly speeds on the M25. Towards the end,Stranger's set goes full ballistic. Meaning, he starts playing Hardcore. So from nice and mellow Techno to finish with Hardcore, that's exactly how to do it. Just the way I'd like to hear sets. I need to give the DJ some credit for mixing this beautifully together. A wicked set, with excellent tunes. Carefully selected and mixed together, the result is 2 hours of paradise. And it has given me enough energy to start looking at 2020 with positive vibes, the year I will get back onto the dancefloor. I need more of this. I need more oldskool. I need more! Stranger, no stranger to me. But still haven't Googled him. I let the music speak for itself! Best record? Too many to choose from. I can't single one record out. Can you? - Marc Acardipane @ Defqon.1 Festival 2015 Black
Marc Acardipane. The Godfather of Hardcore. You know he is. And we all appreciate his imput in the scene since the early 90s. Or was it the late 80s? I can't remember, I was too damn young. But Marc has been on my radar since the mid 90s, and have been ever since. I've actually seen him perform at Mysteryland 1998 Outdoor, and the set was live. Proper live. And the other day I stumbled across a set he did, and it sadly didn't have a tracklist. But I really wanted to review a set by the Godfather, so I went looking online, and found this set, recorded at 2015's Defqon.1. The other set I wanted to review, was his Boiler set. But sadly no one composed a tracklist yet. So this Defqon.1 set had to be the replacement, and truth be told, it's not a bad set. Some have complained that he played the most notable tunes, and not his early stuff, or the underground stuff, but frankly, I do not care about their opinion. Marc is a living legend, and proof that Hardcore never dies, and whatever he plays, is Hardcore. Unless it's a remixed version of his all time classic, to appeal to the top40 masses, but we'll not talk about that. Marc is proof that Hardcore is timeless. And for his 2015 set he played the finest tracks Hardcore had to offer. The proper old stuff, but not the early stuff. Old as in late 90s and Millennium stuff. When you see the tracklist you will smile and have goosebumps. Like me, but that's also because the heating isn't on, and I'm sitting here at home with shorts and a t-shirt. The tracklist is a thing of beauty. Hardcore porno. 01. DJ Bike - Bike's Drum 02. Catscan - Enemy On The Run 03. Tommyknocker - The Aftermath 04. Promo & Catscan - Midnight Impact 05. DJ Mad-E-Fact - The Hustle 06. Razzle Dazzle Trax - Rattlebrain (DJ Isaac's Special Remix) 07. Promo - Up Yours! 08. Base Alert - Ojeeoink 09. Armageddon Project - Spawn Of Misanthropy 10. Promo & DJ X-Ess - Vicious Circle 11. Promo - Emotions Over Anger 12. DJ Promo - Phreak Ya Speaka 13. Angerfist - Criminally Insane 14. Promo - King Of Pain 15. The Masochist - Killing Scum (Promo Meets Shaolin Remix) 16. The Stunned Guys & DJ Paul - Thrillseeka 17. Menace II Society - Chronic Disorder 18. Bodylotion - How Much Can You Take (Catscan Remix) 19. Tschabos - Gib Mir Die Bass 20. 6-Pack - Drunken Piece Of Shit 21. Neophyte - Braincracking 22. Neophyte vs The Stunned Guys - Get This Motherfucker 23. Neophyte & The Viper - '98 To Your Mind 24. Angerfist & Crucifier - Broken Chain 25. Bodylotion - Always Hardcore 30. Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To Da Bone 31. Neophyte & The Stunned Guys - Army Of Hardcore (2009 Remix) i 32. Rob Gee - Ecstacy, You Got What I Need 33. Smash? - Korreckte Atmosphaere 34. Leathernecks - At War I have to say that I really enjoyed the other set, which contained for the majority only Marc's own back catalogue, but this Defqon.1 set is fucking ace! Probably one of the dopest sets of all time, containing those records that I've never seen on one disc, all together! If I could only buy an album with each of these records, I would be a happy man. These are all solid Hardcore anthems, and they still get played over and over, and I'm not fed up hearing them at all. No joke, I can hear them on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, fuck, even on a Sunday, and I wouldn't be bothered. His selection is truly awesome. Yes, it would have been nice to hear more of his own stuff, but he's the DJ, and read the crowd. The crowd wanted this, and got what they wanted. If I'd been there, I would have raved my Nikes until the heel would fall off. Fucking epic mix. I also love the fact that he used records by other amazing producers, such as Promo, Neophyte, Angerfist, and more. Not bound to only a specific group of artists or a specific sound, he plays whatever he wants to play, and the set therefore gets all the credit it deserves. It does have a few small mixing errors, but he deserves nothing but respect for the set in its entirety. So many great anthems. 33 amazing records. Not a fan anymore of Rob Gee's song, but that's just personal preference. I've heard it too many times, I need at least another decade of not hearing this to appreciate it. The best record of this set? The last. What a record to end this set with. Proper Hardcore anthem sped up to ridicilous level. Blisters? Check! A legendary set by a legend. - Donna-Marie - Second Artist Album Mix (2019)
A new day, a new artist found. And this one I found because Technikal told me to listen to her mix. And if Technikal says anything, we all follow. He was right. I clicked the Soundcloud link on Facebook to Donna-Marie's mix, and it has been a pleasant surprise. Not really sure if I have seen her name anywhere before, but I will certainly keep my eyes peeled for more music, after hearing her promo mix for her album. I genuinely thought it was a mix, focussed on the UK Hardcore vocalist Donna Marie, but that wasn't the case. This upcoming producer/DJ has been working with Technikal for, and I quote, '... in putting this album together'. And we all know that if Alf is working on something, the result will be good. No half arsed stuff being released, only quality. But the focus today is on her album mix, and what she has to offer to the world. So it's time for the tracklist. And if you are like me, unaware of who she is, this tracklist might not mean a lot (right now), but maybe you should dive straight into the mix (Soundcloud player underneath the review). You choose. 01. Donna-Marie - Breathe 02. Donna-Marie - Mesmerise 03. Donna-Marie - Transcend 04. Donna-Marie - Hypnotise 05. Donna-Marie - Hallucinate 06. Donna-Marie - Close Your Eyes 07. Donna-Marie - Reverie 08. Donna-Marie - I Know 09. Donna-Marie - Connected 10. Donna-Marie - The Law Of Rhythm 11. Donna-Marie - Reflection 12. Donna-Marie - To Infinity To be fair, this is her second album mix, and I haven't heard the first one. Should I? Well, I will, but not right now (got to do some Xmas shopping), but when I return, I will. So far this mix has been extremely pleasant to me. And I was kind of expecting it, if you know what I mean? I love each and every record made and used in this mix. So relaxing and calm, and even when you look at each track name, you cannot feel but sense a relaxing vibe. And that's exactly what you will get, once you press play on this mix. Progressive stuff is always nice to hear on a Saturday morning. But also on other days too. Don't let the focus be on Saturday only: if you want to listen to this on a Tuesday, who is stopping you? Donna-Marie is an artist who has made an extremely nice mix, and is on my radar right now. Each and every record is carefully made, and smoothly mixed together in this hour long chill vibe. The world around me stopped for an hour, and I was in the zone. The pleasantly surprised zone. With records like the ones used for this mix, and only having 112 followers on Soundcloud, I am surprised. I've got the feeling that Donna-Marie will go far, and we will hear more from her in the upcoming future. I've got only positive comments. Nothing negative to mention. This mix is definately worth your time. It was worth my hour. I feel so relaxed right now, it's unbelievable! Make sure you check out the album (when it's released). Don't know anything about a release date, but you internet music lovers will keep yourself occupied, and follow her on social media! - DJ Smurf @ Lindisfarne Festival (High Tide Tent) Beal, England - 31-08-2019
Lindisfarne Festival. I've never heard of this event, but it turns out, it's quite a big event. This event took place this year from Thursday the 29th of August until Sunday the 1st of September, and the line-up was huge. And I do mean huge. So many areas, so many acts... most of them I've never even heard of. I think the area 'High TIde' contained the most known artists to me: Goldie, Ragga Twins, Slipmatt, Dream Frequency, and of course DJ Smurf. Now we all know DJ Smurf for being a bit daft from time to time. And some might think he only plays funny Hardcore/Terror tunes with smurf sounds in them. He does a little more than that, you know? His set was recorded, and for an hour long you are feeling the oldskool vibes. And those vibes, ladies and gentlemen, are the best ones on God's given Earth. Fuck the rest, oldskool is the best. And he played a few wicked anthems. According to his Soundcloud page, he really enjoyed his set at this High Tide tent, and I don't blame him. There was another Smurf mix I wanted to review, but couldn't find the tracklist that easily. So I quickly went on his page and saw that he had another set online. And this one has got a full tracklist, so here it is: 01. DJ Smurf - Dippedy Dukkja (135 Mix) 02. Pleasure Game - Le Seigneur Des Tenebres (Terminator Mix) 03. N-Joi - Adrenaline (De-construction) 04. T99 vs Smart Systems - Tingler 99 (Smurf Mashup) 05. Human Resource - Dominator (Original Mix) 06. DJPC - Insomniak (Lagoa Extreme Mix) (Smurf DJ Friendly Edit) 07. Dr. Dre vs L.A. Style feat Eminem - James Brown Forgot About Dre (Mashup) 08. Phenomania - Who Is Elvis (+9 Mix) 09. Dyewitness - Observing The Earth 10. Robin Wants Revenge - Robin Wants Revenge (Remastered) 11. Neon - Don't Mess With This Beat (Instrumental) 12. D-Shake - Techno Trance (Yaaaahh) 13. Digital Orgasm - Moog Eruption 14. Shades Of Rhythm - Extacy 15. Mig 29 - Mig 29 16. Synthesis - House Time (Extended Mix) 17. Mental Cube - Q (Santa Monica Mix) 18. Suburban Delay - Energy Rush 19. Praga Khan - Injected With A Poison (Adam's Power Mix) 20. Love Decade - So Real (Power Mix) 21. The Prodigy - Your Love A good looking tracklist, doesn't it? I really enjoyed a few of the forgotten gems, and of course Smurf had to play them. There are some dope records in here, and I think it deserves at least one listen from you, reader, today. But, before we continue, let me talk about the bear in the closet. Is that even a saying? Well, there are two records I do not like. The mashup that used the original L.A.Style record, which was my first ever single, and sadly DJ Smurf's own record. Smurf's were big in the Netherlands when I grew up, and I always hated those blue annoying creatures. I do not know what the evil bloke was called in other countries, but he was called Gargamel in the Netherlands. I related to him very quickly. Who wants to live with those creatures? Not a fan of anything blue Smurf related. But if we are talking about the human Smurf, that's another story. Besides the two tracks I do not like, there are shitloads of excellent tunes in here, including the best one I haven't heard in years: 'Insomniak' by DJPC. Fuck me sideways and up & down, what an anthem! But don't forget 'Dominator' by Human Resource, and N-Joi's 'Adrenaline'. Three absolute classics, but 'Insomniak' remains my favourite, be it the original version of this DJ friendly edit. A good set, all in all. Really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. I've had another mix in mind to review (the 4 hour long mix), but as I said, couldn't find the mix. Maybe that's next time. Another trip down memory lane. But for those who love the classic Hardcore/Breakbeat/Techno classics, enjoy this set by the one and only (likeable) Smurf. Not those fecking creatures. - Faniac - Ouwe Stijl Is Botergeil (09-11-2019)
If there's one event I would like to go to, it's Ouwe Stijl Is Botergeil. There's nothing that excites me more than the oldskool sound, the early sound. The sound that made me fall in love with Hardcore. And I'm not the only one. This event has been going on for many years now, and they are still going strong. Starting back in 2008, they are still keeping the oldskool sound alive and kicking. And 2020 hasn't even started yet, and they've got two editions planned already! How about that? Early style is butter horny. Damn right it is! Faniac was one of the DJs performing at last month's edition, alongside DJ Promo, the Destroyer, Bio Forge, Not A DJ, Koney, The Enforcer, Apac, Kaycie, and Xcruciator. Proper oldskool set you would expect, and it's exactly what you get. And you know what? Faniac's set is full of those records, records I've not heard of before! And I'm not kidding! Maybe these are new records in the style of the early Hardcore sound, or genuinely old records, but on compilations I've never heard or seen before. And it gives me a slight erection. Oh gosh, the early sound is just so addictive. Time for the tracklist. The set itself is rather short (44 minutes long), but within those 44 minutes you do get 17 excellent records. Shame on me. Anyway, Faniac's set. It's on Soundcloud and it's a free download. So if you are into Early Hardcore, and you fancy hearing some obscure Hardcore classics, you are in for a treat. I seriously do not have a clue how he found these gems. I really enjoyed his set. See, this is what I mean by saying that I would like to go to Ouwe Stijl Is Botergeil. I'm digging his set a lot, and the vibes coming through my speakers is pure delight. Don't you rather hear this than the rubbish we've got on our radio nowadays? Please advise me if I'm wrong, but the record that plays around 6 minutes, is that 'Salvation' by Tha Real G? Whatever the track name, that record is my favourite of this mix. And the last one used in this mix. But the record played around the 6 minute marker just reminds me of the early artcore stuff. The underground sound, remember that? I've got only love and admiration for this set. Big set by Faniac! I'll make sure that my health increases, and I will visit Ouwe Stijl Is Botergeil before I get too old, and have to rave on the dancefloor with a wheel chair and hearing aids. - M@rt!n-J - Finnbarr (2019)
Finnbarr. Who doesn't know him? This underrated Freeform producer has been making excellent Freeform music for years now, and finally someone has made this dedication mix. Why? Because Finnbarr deserves it. The music made by him is just genius, and pure Freeform, sometimes with a twist. And for once I can say that I've seen Finnbarr perform. God, what was the name of the event I went to in Bournemouth? Was it even Bournemouth? Christ, I forgot where it even was! But truth be told, I was drunk. So drunk, I fell asleep standing on the train back to London, that's how drunk I was. And it turns out a gift: my kip was good. Before we start talking about all the times I was drunk, let's focus on the mix. Again, this is a dedication mix made by M@rt!n-J, the all round mix master. He keeps on making mixes nearly on a weekly basis. This time he decided that it was time to make a mix of this 'great man', who has had indeed a lot of amazing releases on labels such as Stamina Records, and ReBuild Music, and more. Also a few collaborations with the mighty A.B can be found in this mix, and as an added bonus a few remixes made by Finnbarr. Freeform fanatics, it's time to delve into the tracklist. If you've never heard of Finnbarr, let this mix be your introduction. And I would urge you to do some research after: this man deserves credit for his music! 01. Finnbarr - In Your Eyes 02. Sunburst - Eyeball (Finnbarr's Larger Remix) 03. Finnbarr - The Bornless One 04. Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Finnbarr Remix) 05. Finnbarr - Havin' It Larger 06. A.B vs Finnbarr - Stick Together 07. Finnbarr - The Path 08. Finnbarr - Beauty & The Beat 09. Finnbarr - E=mc2 10. Finnbarr - Freedive 11. Finnbarr - Chant Of The Freeformers 12. Finnbarr - Hidden in The Light 13. A.B vs Finnbarr - Dead Fairy 14. Finnbarr - Losing My Mind 15. A.B vs Finnbarr - Guggle 16. Finnbarr - Tobor The Robot What a wicked tracklist, and what a wicked mix! I've really enjoyed myself, listening to this fine Freeform mix. Me and the missus had a few rough days due to family bereavement, so to come back to the UK, we had to quickly adapt to normal life. For me this mix was the key reason why I'm smiling now. It's good, and it reminds me of Bournemouth (quick Google search showed me it was indeed Bournemouth: BMH Freeform). The good ol' days. Wicked Freeform. What else would you like to hear? And the best thing is, is the fact that Finnbarr knows how to make excellent Freeform music, so all records used for this mix are good. Well, 'Tobor The Robot' is something different. Still need to get used to this mindf*ck of a record. But let's dive straight into the best record of this mix, and probably the main reason why I love Finnbarr's music... 'Beauty & The Beat'. Have you ever heard this record before? It's just pure magical. That's my kind of Freeform. Got to give M@rt!n-J credit again for another wicked dedication mix, and credit to Finnbarr, for being a fantastic producer. Sadly slightly underrated, but hopefully this mix will get people talking, and more interested in Finnbarr. - Jerome Hill: Acid Mix 1987 - 2010 (2013)
Sunday, the perfect day to chill. And what suits this day better than Acid music? For those who just thought I gave them the perfect excuse to use acid: I am talking about Acid music, not drugs. Anyway, the mix. It's a mix made by Jerome Hill 6 years ago, and if you want to hear the classic anthems from 1987 until 2010, you are going to love this mix, if you haven't discovered it already. Acid is a style which can be described as basic music making, but it's absolutely not! This was the birth sound of everything EDM related. Acid House and Techno have ment so much to us all, raving community, and yet sometimes it's just described as being basic. Yes, maybe the equipment used to compose these records are lacking any power (your mobile watch has got more power in it, compared to the PCs used back in 1990), but that doesn't mean it's lacking anything. It's the complete oppossite; this is timeless music. 32 years later and people are still loving it. I am one of those who love Acid music. Acid House is just so perfect! I am truly in love, even though throughout its existense I was too young to understand what it was, and the true meaning behind it. But 32 years later I am feeling the same as those ravers in underground clubs, bunkers, and those that raved at remote locations, like in the middle of a bloody field. I am feeling it. And so should you! 01. Adrenalin M.O.D - Track This 02. Party Boy - Twilight Zone 03. Laurent X - Machines 04. Bobby Konders - Nervous Acid 05. Charles B - Lack Of Love 06. Rodney Bakerr - Flashback 07. MC Juice - Juiceapella 08. Adrenalin M.O.D. - Ecstasy 09. Technodelia - Technodellia 10. Phuture - Acid Tracks 11. Kool Rock Steady - I'll Make You Dance 12. Matt Whitehead - To The Beat (Don't 20) 13. Jared Wilson - Paris Massacre 14. Gesloten Cirkel - Swedish Woman 15. Basic Soul Unit - Jak'd Freq (Made Up Sound Remix) 16. Ceephax Acid Crew - Radiotin EP 17. Jared Wilson - Office Analogue 18. Moody Boys - Funky Zulu You're So Fresh 19. Basic Penetration - Penetration 20. Outrage - Too Much Energy 21. Ecstasy Club - Jesus Loves The Acid 22. Fuse - Substance Abuse 23. Fuse - FU2 24. Bam Bam - Give It To Me 25. Essit Musique - Essit Musique 26. Jared Wilson - Ghetto Blaster 27. Underground Resistance - Seawolf 28. Freddy Fresh - Punched Out 29. Wee Papa Girl Rappers - Heat It Up (Saunderson Remix) 30. Public Energy - Three 'o' Three 31. LD. Jam Inc - Uptown Dub If you are old enough to remember these records, credits for still appreciating this music. Credits deserved to those who keep the sound alive and kicking. And credits to Jerome Hill, for making this nearly hour and 40 minute long mix, containing 31 records, and taking us to paradise on Earth. The good thing about this mix, is the fact that he has also used 'brand new' Acid records. Not made 30 years ago, but back in 2010. Using the same approach to the sound, it just shows that the sound has never died, and will simply never die. Acid is the music that most of us (oldies) grew up with, and appreciated. I can only give Jerome Hill credit for this wicked mix. Sorry it took 6 years for me to find it, but at least it's still online, and we can appreciate it. The best record? To choose from 31 records wasn't easy, but 'Jesus Loves The Acid' to me remains the finest Acid House record of all time. Just such an anthem. Play it at any event, and the crowd will lose themselves. A fantastic mix. Check this bad boy out! Keep it Acid, baby! - We've Still Got The Stamina [Records] (2019)
Stamina Records. The all mighty Stamina Records. Such an important factor in the Freeform scene. If you think of Freeform, you are probably thinking of this label at the same time. Or, seeing as it's near Christmas, you are thinking of basting the turkey and the video that went online a few years ago. You know what I'm talking about. It was kind of sexy though. Anyway, you will always think of this label. It's the most powerful label in the Freeform scene, and we all know it. Presenting to us the finest Freeform and known for delivering only the highest quality music. And I'm a fan, if you haven't guessed it already. A.B is the man behind this label, and what he does, only he does best. But this dedication mix hasn't been made by A.B, but by TCD's regular M@rt!n-J. The man who makes dedication/appreciation mixes on a weekly basis. He's made several Freeform mixes before, and they were focussed on this label too, and 4 days ago he uploaded this brand spanking new mix, with records that were released on Stamina Records' 'Summer Slammers Vol. 6'. If you haven't guessed it yet, it's already out (the Summer has already finished). This release contained 12 awesome records, which you can find in M@rt!n-J's mix. It's worth checking out. A nice straight forward mix. Freefrom from the first to the last second. And boy, there are some excellent tunes in here! You will probably need tissues once you've seen the tracklist, and you need a whole lot more once you click the player underneath this mix! 01. Substanced - Evanescent 02. Transcend - Exploration 03. Eufeion & K-Wire - The Hunt 04. Gercore - Legacy 05. Digital Commandos - Still Dreaming 06. Kounta Kulture - Valhalla 07. Douglas feat Dark Angel - The All Seeing Eye 08. A.B, Ales & Dani Delirio - Arkesus (Random But Raw Remix) 09. DJ Neon - Tribute 10. Transcend - Neural 11. Cube::Hard & Douglas - Codex 12. Transcend - Reality This mix is just sexy from the first to the last second. You are all aware of my ongoing love for Freeform since the mid 2000s. For me it's just so damn sexy, and so exclusive. It's a scene that deserves to be more, and without a shadow of a doubt has got the finest producers out there, some even better than the biggest producers known to man kind. But that's just my opinion. If you are reading this, that means you love Freeform. Or you just clicked the link because it contained the word 'Free'. Well, that's not a lie, this mix is free to download, and I do hope you appreciate it as much as I do. Freeform is just so damn good. Heavenly music, and from time to time even better than Trance music. Oh snap, did I just really say that? Yes, the EDM Trance sound has never been my favourite kind of music. Freeform 24/7, 362 days of the year (I'll give Xmas music some credit too though, and I know the missus will be extremely angry if I don't play Xmas music). M@rt!n-J's mix is as tight as you can expect it to be. He used a lot of flanger effects, which to me weren't necessary though, but hey, he's having fun behind his decks. Is flanger the correct one I'm describing? Well, he's having fun. It was difficult to pick one amazing record, but if I had to, it was going to be the greatest record of all time, 'Codex'. Yes, Transcend, Kounta Kulture, Gercore, Substanced, and more, have made excellent tunes, but 'Codex' just remains a masterpiece by Cube::Hard and Douglas. Fuck me, the build up is something you don't hear (and feel) that often. I'm loving this mix, M@rt!n-J. You've done it again! - Scott Brown @ Ghosttown 2014
I am not sure if I have already reviewed this set, but deep down inside I'm sure that I have. It's weird that all my old reviews have disappeared, but hey, who really cares? If I have or haven't, let's not think about what consequences it might have on the alternate universe, but for me it does not bother me in the slightest. I will happily review this right now, in another year, and maybe in 10 years. There are multiple reason why I should keep this set alive and kicking, and the main reason being that it's a set by the mighty Scott Brown. I know there are a lot of Scott Brown fanatics out there, who love a bit of his UK Hardcore music on a daily basis. But sadly today this is not for them. This is an Early Hardcore set, and for those who are unaware of what Scott used to do, it's time for you to look up his back catalogue, and start to learn of the wizardry that this man has created since the early 90s. If there's one person who is a die-hard Gabber, it's Scott. It's in his nature to be an Early Hardcore lover. He created this unique sound during the 90s, and became famous for his sound. Many Europeans embraced the Scott man (or the Scotchman) for his music, and even though he's not really known for his UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore music, he's still extremely loved for his Early Hardcore music. And he knows a thing or two about how to play the finest sets, all over the world. Reading the comments of 2014s Ghosttown, people all seemed to agree that his set was absolutely astonishing. And frankly, it was. Let's show the world what kind of records he played during this magical night. 01. Scott Brown - Detonated 02. Lord Of Hardcore - Go Bezerk 03. Inner Destruction - Bang To The Beat (Scott Brown Mix) 04. Active Force - Head Like A Pacman 05. The Scotchman - Asylum 06. Lord Of Hardcore - Work That Sukka! 07. Bass Reaction - Technophobia 08. Hyperact - My Best Friend (Dirty Mix) 09. Dune - Hardcore Vibes (South Bound Mix) 10. The Scotchman - Happy Vibes 11. Q-Tex vs Technosis - Kaos 12. Bass X - Hardcore Disco (Album Mix) 13. Sonar Zone - Adrenaline (Scott Brown Mix) 14. Ultimate Buzz - Check Da Bass (Scott Brown Mix) 15. Q-Tex - E-Creation (1995 Mix) 16. Mr. Brown - Jump!!! 17. Hyperact - House Aggression 18. E-Rick & Tactic - What The Fuck? (Scott Brown Remix) 19. Technosis - Genorate (Scott Brown Mix) 20. Bass X - Mother Fucker 21. Lord Of Hardcore - Attack The Dancefloor 22. Genaside - Eliminator 23. Annihilator - I'll Show You My Gun 24. Darrien Kelly & Scott Brown - Geleihoofd Now that's pornographic material. You cannot say that you have looked at this tracklist and not have something happening in your undergarment section. Movement has happened, and moist levels have gone right up. There's no way of hiding it. Everyone around you can see it. And I fully understand why you would feel like that. If you were at this event and watched the legend play, you had the night of your life. Many agreed that this set was absolutely amazing, and truth be told, I've been listening to this set over and over again, and I still find it each time wicked to the bone. True Hardcore classics. Some a bit underrated though. But still all Scott Brown records that the true Hardcore fanatics love. I just love the fact that Scott's set is so flawless. And the way he presents these records to the crowd at Ghosttown, is just perfect. I reckon they weren't ready for the Scottish madness he represents. I've told you in previous reviews that he's a legend, and that he has been one of my all time greatest producers, and this set just proves why we should cherish this man for what he has done for the European Hardcore scene. Don't underestimate his strength as a producer and a DJ. God, I'd wish I was there at Ghosttown. This set is flawless, and one of Scott's finest sets ever. Worth checking out, trust me. - Oki Doki @ Slipmatt 30 Years Of Rave Tour - 19th October 2019 - Perth
Uncle Slippers 30 years in the game, who would have thought that? Unbelievable! I remember meeting him for the first time a few years ago, and since that moment he's been a legend to me. And also when he started doing his Facebook mixes, those were legendary. Slipmatt is a legend, and is celebrated all over the world. Also in Australia, where only a month ago he celebrated his 30 years in the game with his own party! The set I'm about to talk about is by someone who I've never heard of before. Oki Doki? That's my catchphrase for everything! Okey dokey. But it turns out I was bigging up this artist! Well, Oki Doki played alongside Fuxxy, Hutcho, Next Jen, Dair, and Diminish. And of course the grandad of the scene, the oldest person at any rave: Slipmatt. When I spotted this mix, I went straight onto it, with an open mind. Well, I have to, I'm a blogger. But the set really surprised me! I was expecting oldschool stuff, but I was wrong. All pleasantly sounding UK Hardcore songs! It turns out that this lady is the Queen of UK Hardcore and J-Core on the West Coast of Australia! I've never been, so I can not compare this title, but what I do know that this set is all you need to hear today! Happiness throughout! 01. Vinylgroover & Urban Noise - 2 Hearts As 1 (Fracus & Darwin Remix) 02. Impact & Resist - Someday (Fallon Remix) 03. Darwin & Jack In Box - Take You Down 04. Edit V - Burning Love (Darwin & Jack In Box Remix) 05. Dougal & Disco's Over feat Lokka Vox - Reflections 06. Darren Styles - Quiver 07. Al Storm vs Daniel Seven - Ouija 08. Jakka-B - Lost In The Rhythm (Relect Remix) 09. Darude, Ashley Wallbridge feat Foux - Surrender (Hixxy Remix) 10. Manian - Hold Me Tonight (Eufeion Remix) 11. Joey Riot, Klubfiller & Alex Prospect - Don't Know How To Make You Happy (Original Remaster) 12. Aethral - Still Alive (Freeform Remix) 13. Bananaman - Lucky Star 14. Vinylgroover - My Little Fantasy (Bananaman Remix) 15. Audiofreq - Dance 2 Music (Audiophetamine Edit) 16. Spyro - Love Comes Down 17. Aquagen - Hard To Say I'm Sorry (Scott Brown Remix) 18. Ben Defekt & Mike Enemy feat Nina Kray - Gotta Be You 19. Rob IYF - Euphoria (2019 Mix) 20. S3RL & Lisa - My Girlfriend Is A Raver 21. Da Tweekaz & Darren Styles - Heroes )170 Mix) 22. Douglas & Gammer - All The Tears I've Cried A good looking tracklist, it has to be said. Diverse as well. Lovely selection by Oki Doki. And a good choice by Slipmatt to ask her to play at his event. I really enjoyed this set. Uplifting, happy, and all in all a nice UK Hardcore set. It did contain a few records I've not heard before, and it made me pleasantly feel surprised when I heard them. A nice mash of UK Hardcore, Powerstomp, Freeform, and whatever you call the EDM side of UK Hardcore (EDMCore I'd like to call it). But is it worth listening to this? Yes. Hell yeah. I've been stuck in a traffic jam for nearly 3 hours, and I listened to this set at least 3 times. I had to stop off somewhere too, so that added another few minutes of Oki Doki's set. There are a few records I do not like, but that's a personal thing. You might like them. Hell, you might even love them, but I'm not a fan of S3RL, or remixes of all time Hardcore classics like 'My Little Fantasy'. The original still remains the best. But which record is the best? Well, that's a difficult question, because Oki Doki used a lot of amazing records to compose this mix. I pick 'Still Alive' by Aethral. Good tune, good vocals. A nice set. Really the highlight of my day! A few small mixing errors and a few tracks I didn't like, but still appreciated the vibe this mix has generated! More Oki Doki please! - Niro @ The Maze 03-05-2014 (ISP Invites Ouwe Stijl Is Botergeil)
From UK Hardcore to Early Hardcore. You name it, I review it. And I found a nice Early Hardcore set on Soundcloud, uploaded 5 years ago, by DJ Niro. Recorded at the Maze. Hosted by both ISP and Ouwe Stijl Is Botergeil. And if you were there, you must have had a brilliant time. Let me just name the biggest names from the event: Faniac, Leviathan, MD&A, Bountyhunter, Dano, Arjuna. How about that, eh? That's a nice looking line-up. One of the sets I've found was by DJ Niro. This is an hour and a half long set, and in it you will find a whole lot of Early Hardcore records. 30 excellent records, selected and mixed together by DJ Niro (I thought it was DJ Miro first). And to be fair, the selection of records is unique: most of these are forgotten gems. Truth be told, he had to play a few of those well known classics, but also a lot of forgotten anthems, some I've not even heard in a decade or so. And that's obviously why OSIB exists: to make sure that the oldskool sound is still alive, kicking, and much appreciated. The tracklist is a beast. Coming from an Early Hardcore lover, that should mean something. Let me show you the absolutely stunning tracklist: 01. Human Resource - Dominator (Dymar & Maddox Remix) 02. Noize Suppressor vs Placid K - Keep It Smile 03. DJ Lancinhouse meets The Stunned Guys - Fuckin' Sweat 04. Painbringer - Words Of '95 05. Reyes - Rock With Me 06. DJ Promo - Kill Tha Noise 07. Lunalotic - I Can't Hear You 08. DJ Epitaph - Da Core Will Never Die 09. Nitrogen - Bad Bwoy 10. Paradox - What Is Wisdom 11. Scott Brown - Rock With The Sound 12. Masoko Solo - Pessa Pessa (Buzzy Goes BZRK Mix) 13. DJ Promo - Insane Methodz 14. Annihilator - Realm Of Darkness 15. Myztic - To Da Rhythm 16. DJ Roy - Music That Lasts Forever 17. Predator - 20.000 Hardcore Members 18. Bio-Forge - Turbulence 19. Nosferatu - Inspiration Vibes 20. DJ Alex - In Control (Climax Remix) 21. The Prophet & Omar Santana - Power Pill 22. 3 Da Hard Way - Original Rude Boyz (Oh Oh Omar's Mix) 23. Predator - Out Of Control 24. Omar Santana - Omar, Fuck It Up Kid 25. 3 Da Hard Way - Assault In Zwolle (Jokey's Cellblock Mix) 26. Predator - Just Real-x 27. Knightvision - In The Darkness (I Was Made) 28. Nosferatu - Hardcore DNA 29. Bio-Forge - No 1 S-Capes Us 30. Archatos - The Strength Of Unity That's an insane looking tracklist. Wowzers. Credit to DJ Niro for finding all these amazing records! I've not come across 80% of these records in at least a decade. DJ Niro's record collection must be impressive for him to even remember these records. I have really enjoyed this early Hardcore set, and let's just jump into the biggest issue with this set: the MC. I do not know who he is, but his mic level is extremely off, and also he does not know when to speak, and when to remain silent. He kind of ruins the set completely. It must have been a completely different story for the ravers there, but hearing him during this recording is just such a let down. DJ Niro does keep the ravers on their feet, and he does it well. Some small mixing errors have cropped up, but nothing too major. I'm still impressed with the records he has selected. Really awesome looking tracklist. And the best record? '20.000 Hardcore Members'. Just chilling vibes I get when I hear this record. A good set, kind of ruined by the MC. But at least he doesn't scream constantly throughout the set. That would have been a complete nightmare. Still worth your precious time though. So give this set a go, and appreciate the forgotten early sound! - LT Xmas Mini Mix (Album Sampler) - Mixed By Alex Prospect (2015)
I'm surely not the only one excited for Christmas? Am I really? Well, a lot has happened, and Christmas is looking good this year. And I live in a house where the wife is totally obsessed with Santa and his festive season. So I've been hearing Mariah a lot, Wham is being pushed down my throat for a while now, and all those other festive tunes are literally the first thing I hear when I wake up. Also, you might have remembered, I am a raver. Is there something on the world wide web for me? Is there a Christmas treat for me out there, and also for you? Well, yes! If you don't know, back in 2015 Lethal Theory gave us a lot for free! The mix you are about to hear is mixed by the mighty Alex Prospect, and that's not the only present from these guys: also 7 free tracks! Can't remember which ones they were, but if you go to Lethal Theory's Soundcloud page, you will find them easily. Or just read the section underneath this mix, which also has a short description of the free tracks (jeez, I just completely missed that, I am a dopey twat). So a free mix, and free records by Joey Riot, Alex Prospect, Haywire, M-Project, Starkiss, Outforce, Mob (or is it MOB?), and Obie. Is there anything else you would rather want to hear right now? Some are sharing memes on Facebook about it being too early for Xmas and I disagree. Let's get all festive right now, and play this monster mix, released 4 years ago! And who was the one who provided the mix with a tracklist? Yep, me! Hehe. 01. Alex Prospect x Gammer - Bad Bitch 02. Joey Riot vs Starkiss - Party All Day, Party All Night 03. MOB & Enemy - Iron Heart 04. Joey Riot & Klubfiller - Riot In Da Club (Original Mix) 05. Alex Prospect & Obie - Viper 06. MOB - I'll Be Good (2015 Mix) 07. Alex Prospect x Callum Higby x Rhezie - Watch Me Run 08. Darwin & Obie - Futureshock (Gammer Remix) 09. Alex Prospect x Joey Riot - Move Your Body So 7 free records, and a 9 record long mini mix. Christmas has come early this year (or 4 years too late?). We have got nothing to complain about. Embrace the festive season, and press play on this mix. Alex has done his best back in 2015 to make this mix work, and 4 years later it still rocks. And trust me, if I say that, you know that I mean it. TCD never lies. Well, white lies are just common though. But never lie about music. OK, let's discuss the biggest disappointment: the length of this mix. It's a mini mix, but I'd wish it was a tad longer. I'm loving the music. There were only 9 tracks used in this mix, but none of them are boring. None are shite. ALL of them are ace, UK Hardcore classics. Dancefloor smashers. I might be wrong, but when 'Iron Heart' was released, it was the most talked about record in our precious scene, right? It's not really a Christmas mix though. Don't think that you hear bells, or anything else Christmassy after the intro. But that doesn't make this less festive. This has made me a happy bunny, and we all love a bunny during the festive season on a plate (unless you are vegan: you will probably looking a brocolli up and down). You can play each of these records throughout the year, not just now. Anyway, whatever my opinion is, the real important thing here is, is that this mix is dope, and for free! Who needs George, Mariah, Kelly, or anyone else destroy the festive season, when you've got the finest artists from LT instead? You make that decision. It was an easy one for me. LT all the way! - SaSaSaS @ Westfest 2019
If you love Drum & Bass, I do not need to explain who SaSaSaS are. These legends are dominators in the scene, and whenever they perform, you know the party is about to blow into a billion pieces. If you are attending a party and they are performing, you will see something happen that you won't see anywhere else. Pure madness, pure dedication, pure DnB. So it was an obvious choice for the organisation behind Westfest to get them to perform at this year's party. The event only took place a few days ago, and their set is now online (with a tracklist). Are you ready for the madness? My missus wasn't. She walked into the kitchen when I was listening to this set, and she was like 'wtf is that?'. She isn't a fan of DnB, so I'm guessing she had never heard of SaSaSaS before, and she won't hear them again after the kitchen incident. The crew are just pure fire, and when you give the MCs the microphones, you know that they will demolish the people's eardrums. Unstoppable from the first to the last second. But don't just assume that this is all about the MCs, the DJs are as important as the MCs. And during their hour long set they decided to give us constant eargasms by playing 64 records in 59 minutes. Will you Adam and Eve it? That's just insane. I know what the mission is of SaSaSas. The ravers who are witnessing them are not able to acknowledge what just happened. How can you describe this set without mentioning the words 'unbelievable', 'fast', 'powerful' , and 'insane'. After a set by the legends you need a tissue, a cigarette, and some sleep. The feeling is similar to having sex for an hour, and when it ends, you need time to recover. Rough sex though, not very passionate.SaSaSaS do not take any prisoners. I might try to play this during the missus and myself's bedroom antics, see if she will appeciate the fire. I highly doubt it. Anyway, before my stupid blog becomes unreadable and more like a sex expert's diary, let's see the tracklist. Thanks to SaSaSaS for the tracklist. 01. Macky Gee - Like Me I just love their set, can't you tell? An hour of absolute mayhem and madness, and the result is a wicked set. Both DJ Phantasy and Macky Gee destroyed our eardrums with 64 records in 59 minutes. I still find it amazing that this is even possible! And the things is, it all sounds flawless. And the crowd does love it. The whistle crew was present at Westfest, and you can hear them throughout their set. The thing is, I've never seen them perform. I've only seen them in videos, and hear them on Soundcloud. Never had the chance to hear them perform live. So I've based my judgment on what I'm hearing, and obviously it's completely different to those who have seen them. I envy those people who have seen SaSaSaS. THEY DO BRING THE FIRE. The music is good. Excellent. And even the MCs do a great job. But seeing as English isn't my mother tongue (my second language) and I never listen to lyrics, I find it difficult to understand what each MC is saying. They are just too damn fast. Before I literally dissected their first sentence, they have already finished their 14th sentence. It's incredible what they do, and how the crowd knows nearly every rhyhme they are spitting. The only bit I can respond to is 'BO', if asked if anyone wants a reload. All jokes aside, I'm loving this set. It has made my day. Fire from the first to the last second, and also a fitting tribute to MC Stormin. This MC sadly passed away last year, but his legacy is still present, and will be forever! #bussit A set you need to hear. A set you need to experience. I will do my best to hear SaSaSaS at least once before I go. My health needs to improve, and once I'm back on my feet, I will go back and rave again. I must. Why, you might ask? Well, just listen to this set and tell me if you sat still? You can't, and neither could I. I'm a raver 24/7 365 days a year, and a set like this one just lights my fire. And the crowd's response is just insane! Goosebumps! - Hardtrance Classics Vol.2 - Scot Project Edition (18-09-2017)
Yesterday I felt the urge to listen to some Hard Trance. And there was one record in particular I wanted to hear, which was made by Scot Project. This song was called 'L (I Want Your Love)'. We all know it, we all love it. So what I would normally do, is go to Soundcloud and see if there are any appreciation mixes on there, or megamixes by the artist themselves. And within about 2 minutes I found one with good audio quality, and a nice tracklist. It does not contain 'L', but that doesn't bother you? It doesn't bother me at all, seeing as I thought that this specific record was his best, but I was oh so wrong. I found this mix rather quickly, and was amazed by the tracklist. The mix, made by Audioholik, and it had some great reviews from those who heard this set. And I have to say that I'm rather surprised by the amount of wicked tracks made by Scot Project. I was a late fan of Hard Trance, and missed out on a lot to be fair. I caught a glimpse of the scene before my attention went somewhere else. Which is probably the stupidest thing I've ever done. What's not to love? It's hard, and it involves Trance music? Stupid boy I am. I should have paid attention and spend some money. I wish I had purchased some albums. A wicked set containing excellent records. Scot Project's 'L' is my favourite, but this set is filled with other anthems I should have heard when Hard Trance ruled the world. He has made some remarkable anthems over the years, but the 14 selected by Audioholik are truly something else, something unique. I was sitting in my audio room, constantly being amazed by the drops, the beats, the basses, the melodies, and I couldn't contain my happiness. I have been smiling from ear to ear, and this set has truly, and remarkably, made my day. The tracklist is a piece of art. De piece de resistance. That doesn't make any sense, but you know what I mean. Check it out, you Hard Trance nutters! 01. Beam vs Cyrus - Thunder In Paradise (Scot Project Remix) 02. Scot Project - FM1 (Feelin' Me) (Original Mix) 03. Derb - D.F.C. (Scot Project Remix) 04. Arome - Visions Of Paradise (Original Mix) 05. Orions Voice - Cockroaches (Scot Project Remix) 06. Scot Project - O (Overdrive) (Original Mix) 07. Microbots - Cosmic Evolution (Scot Project Remix) 08. Arome - Somebody (Hangover Help Mix) 09. Hypetraxx - Paranoid (Scot Project Remix) 10. Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizarre (Scot Project Remix) 11. Yoda - Definitely (Scot Project Remix) 12. Sakin & Friends - Braveheart 2006 (Scot Project Remix) 13. Tocs - One (Scot Project Edit) 14. Arome - Visions Of Paradise (Scot Project Remix) Scot Project is the KING of euphoric build-ups. Just check out these tracks, and you will know what I mean. He loves to build up towards this climatic moment, and when it all comes together, it comes together in such a unique fashion, it's hard to sit still. I've been bouncing up and down here, and couldn't be any happier. Do I still consider 'L' to be his masterpiece? Nope. I've changed my perspective. All 14 are evenly as great as 'L', if not even greater. This unique and lost sound is still fresh as a daisy, and in 2019 I am still embracing it. Do I prefer Hard Trance over Trance? That's a difficult question, one I'll answer another day. But today, certainly today, I am happy to have found this mix. So many great anthems in here, carefully selected and mixed together. Audioholik's mix is really tight. It was difficult to pin point the best record of this mix, because there just so damn many. There were two that stood out the most 'FM1' and 'Visions Of Paradise', the original version. Crikey, these tracks are just pure gold. If you ever have to play a Hard Trance set and you are not playing any of these, are you even a DJ? All jokes aside, Scot Project is a legend. And this set proves to us all why he should be embraced even more. He has made some timeless anthems. Hard Trance, Hard House, Early Hardstyle, call it whatever you like, but to me it's heavenly music. And I couldn't care less what you call it. If this is the kind of music they play in Heaven, I won't be sad to have left my physical state. Scot Project is a boss. Definitely. What a blinding set, Audioholik! - Autobiography Of A Rave Kid Part lll (2019)
The legend is back! Selectabwoy has returned with yet another new mix. Sadly I have missed it (by accident) but he kindly reminded me of it on Friday. Told him I was going to review it on Saturday, but that didn't happen. Ah well, one day too late is still acceptable, isn't it? I've already missed it, being released 11 days ago. As he puts it under the mix 'just in time for Halloween'. Well, fuck, missed that completely. We don't celebrate Halloween either, so there's another excuse. Anyway, before I go ranting about nothing and everything, let's talk a bit about this mix, and the DJ. Selectabwoy is my favourite DJ on Soundcloud right now. His mixes are ALWAYS ear pleasingly good, and he always delivers. And that's not me exaggerating it. You can go onto his Soundcloud channel, and be completely emerged into the darkest sound the early 90s had to offer. I sadly haven't had an opportunity to hear him play live, but one day that will happen. But to show you how much of a fan I am of his mixes: I nominated him this year for the DJ Mag top 100. He sadly didn't make it, but at least he got my vote. And with his latest mix, he has gone back to 1993. The year of the Hardcore Jungle/Darkcore/Techno sound. And it is sounding good. Be prepared to have the most amazing Sunday in a long time! Enjoy the tracklist, but I know you will! 01. Xenophobia - The Phoenix 02. Scott & Keith - Deranged (Bonus Drums) 03. Ratty - Bouncing 04. Foul Play - Finest Illusion (Illegal Mix) 23. DJ Phantasy - Satan Was An Angel 24. Metalheads - Saint Angel There we go. A proper oldschool tracklist. Looking at these tracklist always makes me wonder: what has happened to all these producers? What are they doing now? One hit wonders, and now doing carpentry, or maybe doing something else still in the music industry? But no matter what they are doing now, they have left a mark on the scene with their brilliant tunes. Selectabwoy's mix is as good as you would expect it to be. The comments all say that this mix is dope, and yeah, I would underline each comment. The mix is indeed dope, but would you expect anything else from Selectabwoy? I've really enjoyed the dark side of this music. I know we all love our music slightly darker and edgier, and Selectabwoy always delivers this. I highly recommend you visiting his Soundcloud channel for more awesome mixes. Hours of fun. And a quick overview shows him having 577 records on it? Bloody Nora, I've only discovered a handful! I've got some work to do here. Selectabwoy, if you are reading this, thanks for yet another epic mix. Only genuine classic anthems, and true underground anthems. I've really enjoyed myself, and have not found a single bad thing about this mix. As usual though. Get this mix right now. Let this take over your weekend! - Real Hardcore 1-5 (1996-1997)
If you were born in the Netherlands during the 70s or 80s, and you were a full on Hardcore fanatic during the 90s, you must have seen this compilation I'm talking about. You must have seen them in the Arcade stand, among other rather unusual compilations. The first instalment being released in 1996, and the fifth was released in 1997, and thankfully it died straight after it being released. I've got to admit, I did have these in my collection, but that's only because I bought everything released by Arcade, which was Hardcore related. But what an embarrasment it was. I had to Discogs it, and found out that they were produced by ID&T, but seeing as they were focussed on the mainstream public, they left the ID&T branding off, due to the stereotipocal use of the 'gabbers' on the cover. Fair point, ID&T. It isn't something to be proud of. Again something that made fun of the gabber community. If there were opportunities to fight against it, they were not been used. This compilation was named 'Real Hardcore', but did it do the name any justice? Was it real Hardcore, or just another way of getting gabbers to spend guilders (old Dutch coins)? I had fond memories of the anthems on here, but not the message that was shared with it. It made the gabber community stand out, like freaks. XTC thrilled idiots. The music though, from time to time, was actually good. On these 5 CDs the music ranged from Hardcore, Gabber, Happy Hardcore, and a bit of Techno too. Please remember that during 96/97 the gabber community was highly divided: you were a gabber or you weren't. You listened to Hardcore, but not Happy Hardcore. That was for hobos. Only true ravers appreciated the harder stuff, softies listened to this happy stuff. And to call a compilation 'Real Hardcore' and it having several Happy Hardcore anthems on it, was kind of a disgrace. Don't get me started on those compilations which made the scene look like fools. Those cartoonish images on the front, and with titles such as 'gabbers in Mallorca','raving on the camping', 'raving with clogs on', etc, they were even worst. So this isn't the worst compilation ever? Wow. That might have been a shocker. Let me show you the tracklist of each instalment. Real Hardcore 01. DJ Rob & MC Joe - The Crowd Is Moving Now you might be thinking 'Martin, what the hell are you on about? This is the best compilation ever'. And if you are thinking that, you seriously need to check your self. Hospital visit is required, trust me. This is NOT the best compilation ever, nor will it ever be a contender of a top 3 spot. This is one of the worst, yet it also contains wicked anthems. So am I contradicting myself? A tad. But who cares? Who reads my opinions anyway? The compilation has been made a shambles due to its stupidity. Embracing the cheap Happy Hardcore side of life. Don't get me wrong, I do love Happy Hardcore, but Hakkuhbar, Gabber Piet, MC Rage, Mosselman, and more of these fucking clowns, they make me sick. Even back then I never owner or purchased one of their records. It sad enough to see my own dad dancing to a Hakkuhbar record. That was just enough to make me eternally sick. Why did ID&T and Arcade give them a stage? These absolute lunatics. Idiots. Money grabbing bastards. It's our scene, not theirs. OK, as I said before, there are some good classics, and here's a breakdown of 5 of the best records (one of each CD): * DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Hysterical Drumbeats (Original Mix) * 4 Tune Fairytales - My Little Fantasy (Bass-D & King Matthew Mix) * Blue Zone - Too Beautiful (Cixx's Happy Hardcore Version) * DJ Delirium & Guitar Rob - The Way That We Rocked It (Live In NYC) * Swat - The Fly Is Dead (Public Domain Mix) This is my selection. See, a bit of everything, Happy and Hardcore, all mingled together. But still, does that make this compilation worth purchasing? Yes. This was at the height of Hardcore in the Netherlands during the 90s. This was sadly part of our culture. Even though we truly hated it, we still bought these albums. The fifth instalment became a memorable one: I looked at the images of the people on the bus, and only a few months later, I would actually take the bus to my first rave: Mysteryland 1998 Outdoor. I was a raver on a bus. Still not worth it being the best compilation ever. If you are thinking of a definitive compilation, there are many others. But if you just want to reminisce, to the good and the ugly side of Hardcore, you should definately check it out. At least 90% of the artists were and stil are respected. - Trance Anthems: A Journey (2016)
I'm currently in a Trance mood. The last couple of days Trance has been dominating my life, and it's been an excellent journey. But to top it off, and I reckon this will be the last Trance mix in a while, is a mix done by History Of Happy Hardcore's channel, but this time it's not just a simple mix, hour long, 20 records, bla bla bla, but a 5 hour and 22 minute long mix! That's insane. Wouldn't even be able to mix a set this long myself (I'd get bored after maybe 1 1/2 hour?). But the mix is fire. Maybe 13 years ago, and containing tracks so great, you don't want to miss them. You would expect at least 150 records crammed into this mix, but they have done the opposite: the least amount of records you can expect, but played out as long as possible. No radio edits here, or short edits, but fully extended versions of anthems. And boy (and girl), there are shitloads of them in here. Trance is just so pure and mesmerizing. Trance is life, and for once I've made a statement which I fully underline, and everyone else does too. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with Trance, and there's no reason to dislike it, or strongly hate it. If you do have a hatred towards it, my suggestion would be to listen to this mix, and let it take you on a journey. And what a journey it is going to be. Mostly Millennium Trance can be found in here, but these are all the anthems we know, and love. And some even forgotten about. Thanks for this monster mix. Now it's time for me to typ the whole tracklist. Pfff, not an easy task. 01. Robert Miles - Children (Dream Version) 02. Sasha & Emerson - Scorchio (Full Length Version) 03. Ferry Corsten - Punk 04. Tiesto - Flight 643 05. Joshua Ryan - Pistolwhip 06. Three Drives - Greece 2000 07. Signum - What Ya Got 4 Me (Original 12" Instrumental) 08. BBE - Seven Days & One Week (Club Mix) 09. Da Hool - Meet Her At The Love Parade (Nalin & Kane Mix) 10. Age Of Love - Age Of Love (Jam & Spoon's Watch Out For Stella Club Mix) 11. Brainbug - Nightmare (Original Sinister Strings Mix) 12. How often do you come across a mix so good, it blows your mind into pieces? It doesn't happen that often that you find a mix that has literally got ALL the classics in them? This is that mix. If I'm thinking of Millennium Trance, I think of these tunes. All of these are classics. Some maybe a tad overrated, but still loved by the Trance community. And I'm part of that, I've had something to do with that. By that I mean I've bought many Trance compilations during the golden years, and have paid towards artists making more music. Yeah, producers, you can thank me personally. You are welcome. All jokes aside, this is a seriously impressive mix. Not many mixes out there containing so many great records. History Of Happy Hardcore, you've done it again. Such a fantastic and epic mix. Simply astonishing the amount of beautiful anthems, all crammed in this mix. Is this the best mix ever made, Trance wise? I would say that it is in my top 10 Trance mixes of all time. Simply because they have picked so many great anthems. It's beyond belief how good the music was back then, and remained timeless. You can play any of these in a set, and people will still love them. It's too stupid for me to pick just one record out of all of these, to pick it as my favourite. I've selected a few, not in alphabetic order, but in the order they were played: * Three Drives - Greece 2000 * Push - The Legacy (Club Mix) * Push - Universal Nation * Push - Strange World (2000 Remake) * Cygnus X - Superstrings (Rank1 Remix) * Art Of Trance - Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix) * Binary Finary - 1999 (Gouryella Remix) * Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Original Three 'N One Mix) These are my favourites. And as you can imagine, me being a music freak, I've played these tracks OVER and OVER again. I just love these records, and to me they are the best Trance records of all time. Anyone that disagrees, you should be checking yourself into a hospital, because there's something wrong with you. I'm going to get a few people unfollowing me, but I'm seriously not a fan of 'Children' by Robert Miles. Or even 'Seven Days & One Week' by BBE. Not a fan of the overly pushed down our throat songs. By that I mean the radio overkill, generated by their success. I need a few years before I can actually enjoy them again. A good mix, nevertheless. A few small mixing errors, but let's not forget, this mix is 13 years old. No opportunity back then to use the fancy equipment we've got nowadays, so it's still impressive that the DJ has not fallen asleep halfway through mixing. Or just simply called it quits. Thanks for this epic mix. Probably the longest mix I've come across in a while. Trance lovers, eat your heart out with this! - Dave Pearce - Dance Anthems Summer 2003
2003. That's 16 years ago. Let that sink in for a minute. 16 years ago I was working at Fantasy Island in Skegness, and had the time of my life. I remember going out to the clubs in Skegness and Ingoldmells, and getting absolutely hammered to the bone. I was so waisted: we celebrated my 18th or 19th birthday there back in 2001 or 20002, and we went out to the club, and people kept getting me vodka with Red Bull. I was so drunk, I can't even remember where I woke up the next day. But I do remember going absolutely ape on the dancefloor. I was young. Now I'm old, and missing those good ol' days. What I do remember is the music. This was the era of pop music being awesome. And sadly most of these tunes are not on the radio anymore. But back then the tunes were heard everywhere. And when I mean everywhere, I do mean it. The music made became timeless anthems. Even 16 years later I'm enjoying myself, hearing these tunes again. Smiles for miles, eh? For me the CD I'm talking about has got a lot of memories. Pleasant memories. It was innocent clubbing, that's what it was. But not just that, I was also a supporter of vodka and the energy drinks company Red Bull. I made them a lot of money. Anyway, this CD. It's Dave Pearce's 'Dance Anthems Summer 2003' CD. And I think I bought this at an HMV? Well, I bought it somewhere. And I remember handing it over to the control room at Fantasy Island, and they played out the tunes during the evening. It was so good to hear these anthems whilst being an operator at the rides. We also created our own anthems, but that's for another day (different story, angry manager). I bought this because of the memories. And even in 2019 I'm still playing it. Thankfully I burned this onto my PC a few years ago, because the actual physical copy is unplayable. So many scratches, it just hurts my ears whenever I press play. Skipping constantly. And I think the second disc is just fucked the most: I insert the CD, it starts with track 1 skipping, and it goes towards the last record, without asking. And the story ends with it saying 'CD error'. Dave Pearce, your CD is one of the most loved CDs in my possession. Yes, it does contain a few cheesy anthems, but the general gist of this album is euphoria. And eternal happiness for me. Let me show the young kids what kind of music we were listening to back in 2003. CD 1 01. Benny Benassi presents The Biz - Satisfaction 02. Tomcraft - Loneliness 03. Mario Piu - Communication 20. Norman Bass - How U Like Bass 21. Warrior - Warrior 22. Schiller - Das Glockenspiel 23. DJ Shog - This Is My Sound We all know these tracks. Unless you were born in 2003, or after. But if you are an 80s kid like me, you will know these, and probably loves these. And also have this love/hate relationship with a few of these records. Yes, they are crowd pleasers, but are they really good good? 'Kernkraft 400'? So catchy, but so bad at the same time. 'Where's Your Head At?' Never a fan of Basement Jaxx. Boring and repetative vocals. But hey, at least they made some money out of it, and made me dance in 2003 like a rabid dog. The first disc starts with probably the most annoying record ever, and yet, once you heard it, or even read the title, it won't leave your head for a day or two. But for me its a combination of several factors which makes a track great. Yes, repetative bits and bobs is important, but also wicked vocals. And if you can throw in a few wicked drops, who am I to complain? 'How Did You Know' is that record for me. So underrated. LOVE IT (not for it being underrated though). The second disc also has a few amazing records. But it's that combination I'm looking for, and I found it in The Space Brothers' record 'One More Chance'. But that's just my preference: you might like another record. Sure, why not? As I said before, this CD has a lot of positive memories. But also a few bad records. Records that have not stood the test of time well. But still seen as classics, but not in my books. Am I the only one who finds Underworld overrated? Anyway. It's Thursday. Throwback Thursday. Taking me back to 2003. 16 years ago. Wow. Thanks Dave for making this year a wicked one, and putting my memories on one CD. - TCD Top 5 06-11-2019
It's that time again. Our top 5 of today. And for our list today, we've got a few special records planned. Some you are aware of, some you've never even heard of, and some you just wished you never even heard of. The good, the bad, and the ugly, all in one short list. It's up to you to decide why you think they are great, alright, and just pure shit. Or bagger in Dutch. But it's a wide range of genre/styles, so I do hope you enjoy them. I'm not know as narrow minded. I love literally every kind of music. Just not K-Pop, or just anything pop related. And Dutch folklore. That's just sheer garbage from the highest order. But some might dislike my enthusiasm for Terror music, or even Hardcore. Or what about Bassline music? Or Trance? What's so special about that? Well, we are all different and unique, and sometimes you just have to accept that there are others out there with a different kind of taste. And I'm one of them. If you look at my Soundcloud player, it will astonish you. Let me just name the styles of the last few mixes on there: Bassline, Uptempo Hardcore, Trance, Early Trance, Freeform, Hard House, Dubstep, Hardstyle, Trance, Hardstyle, Hardcore, Jungle, and it continues like that. That's me. My player is always on, and I just the fact that I can skip to the next record, and it can be something completely different. So for example: one record has got 180 BPM, and the next goes to 125 BPM. And I'm still having a blast! Enjoy this list. Open your ears, and up the volume! Enjoy the madness! 01. E-De Cologne - Kill 4 Jesus (1996) : Hardcore 2. Spark7 & Thomas Decolita - ID 22 (2011) : Progressive Trance 3. Amerie - One Thing (Burgaboy & TRC Remix) (XXXX) : Bassline / 4x4 4. Drokz - This Is Dedication (2019) : Terror / Hardcore 5. Push - Strange World (Andrew Bayer Remix) (2016) : Trance and one special record to add as a bonus, seeing as you are all BPM freaks!!!! X. Kill Your Mother - Jesus Must Die (1996) : Hardcore
- Matty G - 90s Trance Anthems (2015)
It's Sunday! The most relaxing (and probably boring) day of the week. We all want to relax and chill, after a week full of stress, anxiety, bills to pay here and there, and life in general. Sunday should be a relaxing day, and I think we should embrace that feeling. Back in the olden days, people would go to church, and pray to the all mighty. Those days are gone. But to stay in a heavenly spirit, why not listen to 90s Trance music? That might take you closer to God, if that's what you are after? The most relaxing day of the week deserves a good mix. And I've found one, made by Matty G 4 years ago, containing the finest Trance anthems from the 90s. And these are the most iconic anthems of all time. If you are a full on Trance lover, you will not be disappointed. This hour and 45 minute long mix has got the finest anthems of the most cherrished decade. The tracklist is astonishing. And without further ado, let me show you the tracklist. 01. BT - Flaming June 02. Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel 03. Three Drives - Greece 2000 04. Veracocha - Carte Blanche 05. System F - Out Of The Blue 06. Sasha - Xpander 07. Matt Darey feat Marcella Woods - Beautiful 08. Push - Strange World 09. Binary Finary - 1998 10. Ayla - Ayla 11. Lost Tribe - Gamemaster 12. Tilt - Invisible 13. Push - Universal Nation 14. Mauro Picotto - Lizard 15. The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia This is beautiful. So good. And yes, these are the classics. If you are thinking of the early Trance classics, you will have these 15 on your mind. And I think I've said it before, but Trance music does not have any haters. It's probably the most loved genre in the whole world. It does no-one any harm, and it's peaceful and relaxing. Matty G's mix is fire. Or, as the young kids would say, lit. Don't know if I'm using it correctly, but whatever the meaning, this mix has made my Sunday a more heavenly one. I felt connected to the unknown but widely described universe. Heaven in an hour and 45 minute long mix. This is the kind of music I grew up with, and has made me the person who I am. Trance music is just so damn breathtakingly beautiful, it's a shame that this unique sound has disappeared over the years, to have been demolished by EDM Trance. I can go on and on about how awesome Trance is, but I won't. I think the tracklist and the mix speaks for itself. And many will agree that the best record in this mix has got to be a Push record, especially 'Strange World'. I can listen to this record over and over again, and it will never be boring. This is the kind of music I expect to hear on my way to the land of eternity. God's elevator music. Push is the man to make it. Or what about 'Universal Nation', another classic! A wonderful mix. Already reached 83,7k plays. And it will go up, I've got no doubt about that. Trance of the 90s is timeless. And it will remain populair until the Earth's dying days. This is the perfect mix to end your Sunday with! - Early Hardcore Mixtape (2013)
Early Hardcore. Are you a fan of it? Or are you too young , and you've simply missed it all? Or do you think it's a load of garbage, and you just prefer styles like Uptempo or Mariah Carey Speedcore? Well, if you do not appreciate Early Hardcore, you've come to the wrong place. I'm a fanatic since 1993. Wow, it just made me think: 26 years of being a raver. That's an achievement too, you know. And everyone was saying that it was only going to be a phase, a short lived thing. We're in 2019, and people are still raving! And it's a multi million euro worth scene. Maybe I'm biased, because I'm Dutch, but I do prefer the early sound. I grew up listening to it, and have fond memories of it. To me it's life. Part of my life. So, what I do to please myself, is to go on Soundcloud and search for good mixes. And today I found one, made by Daniel Lindemans. And as you can see from the picture above, he thinks it's 'simply the best', to quote the legendary Tina Turner (who's voice funnily enough was used in the legendary 'Welcome To The Thunderdome' song'). I've not come across any other mixes by this DJ, but the reason why I picked this one, is because the tracklist is so fucking epic. This mix contains records you might hear from time to time, but it also includes records the majority have forgotten about. And it also had a few 'new' songs. Well, technically not new, but I've not heard them before. Enough reasons to give this a go, and trust the Dutchman: it does not disappoints me. Nor will it you. 01. Intro 02. DJ Toad - Check It Out 03. Buzz Fuzz - Intergalactic 04. Old School Terrorist vs Mixelplix - Terror And Mayhem 05. Bass-D & King Matthew - Is New York In Da House 06. DJ Delirium & Guitar Rob - The Wat That We Rock 07. The Judges feat DJ Promo - The Law 08. G-Town Madness - Punks & Bitches 09. Neophyte & The Stunned Guys - Army Of Hardcore 10. Neophyte - Execute 11. Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To Da Bone 12. The Stunned Guys & DJ Paul - Confusion 13. Bodylotion - Always Hardcore 14. Masters Of Ceremony - Mass Hysteria 15. Prezioso - Raise Your Power (The Stunned Guys Remix) 16. General Noise - Inssomniak 17. DJ Rob & MC Joe - The Beat Is Flown 18. DJ Paul & Teenage Warning - Brohym 19. DJ Paul Elstak - Rockin' Beats 20. Darrien Kelly & Omar Santana - Bounce It Like This 21. DJ Isaac - Bass & Sound 22. DJ Lancinhouse vs DJ Jappo - Real Motherfuckers 23. El Bruto - Hardcore Motherfucker 24. MD&A - Hardcore 25. The Prophet & DJ Buzz Fuzz - Freddy's Revenge 26. DJ Distortion & MC Raw vs Bass-D & King Matthew - Raveworld Daniel has picked the all-time classics for his mix. Those records you will hear on every top 100 CD released. Which records, you might be wondering? Well, if that's a genuine question, I am wondering if you are even a gabber, or a zwabber? 'Always Hardcore', 'Hardcore To Da Bone',' The Way That We Rock','The Beat Is Flown','Confusion'... and more. The classics. You all know them. But not only the classics, but also a few genuine anthems, like 'Real Motherfuckers', 'Bounce It Like This', 'Punks & Bitches','The Law', and of course 'Execute'. This music just is too damn perfect. And so is this mix. I just love its diversity and usage of obscure anthems. I'd only wish they would use more of these 'forgotten' anthems in mixes. They do deserve more recognition. Some records selected by Daniel are just so damn bad, but they would still get the crowds going. But not me. If I'd hear these records in a club, I would dive straight towards the bar or toilet: I cannot rave to these anthems. So overrated, or just plain bad: 'Brohym' and 'Freddy's Revenge'. The last is just so damn bad, and not something I would have expected Buzz Fuzz and The Prophet even making or releasing. But those were the 90s: experimental songs were released, to see if they did catch on. Thankfully they didn't. Of course the biggest record of the 90s had to be put in: 'Hardcore To Da Bone'. Fight me if you hate this record. There's no need to hate. Why? Because it's Masters Of Ceremony's best record of all time. Pure filth, pure Hardcore. A nice mix, with a few minor tracks, and some small mixing errors. But nothing major. So go get this down you. Press play, and go down memory lane. It's that time of year when Christmas is lurking, and you all want to avoid those crappy tunes on the radio? Well, listen to TCD and just listen to what I'm suggesting. I'm well respected (*ahum*), so my judgement is king. And who does not like Early Hardcore? Are you even human?
