- DJ Krimson - Kevin & Perry Go Large Total Recall Mix (2010)
I've got to admit, I've never seen this film in my life, and I've got no reason to watch it either. Not a fan of Harry Enfield, or this kind of humour. I know it was released many years ago, and maybe at the time I would have liked it, but to me this isn't much of anything. I've read the product description, and I fail to see the funny side of it. I've seen many films, and they all sadly disappoint me, whilst the masses have embraced them. Examples are 'Trainspotting', 'Human Traffic', and more. All 'classics', but I'm not feeling the vibes. The music on the other hands, taken from these films, is good. I've got no complaints when it comes to the music, because the music was good. DJ Krimson made this mix 9 years ago, and it's his only mix on Soundcloud. To have 1 mix on Soundcloud and it containing these badboy anthems is a good one. It's nearly been played 55k times, and for good reasons. The tracklist is a thing of beauty, and it does contain wicked anthems. These were the anthems that made me fall in love with Trance music. When Trance wasn't focussed on the masses, but more on the people's perspective on life. It was to get you in a Trance from the first to the last second. Heavenly music. There's not one person on God's given Earth who dislikes Trance. Trance is life. This mix contains records from the OST album, and if you want a trip down memory lane, let this mix do that for you. Just look at these anthems: 01. CRW - I Feel Love (R.A.F. Zone Mix) 02. Signum feat Scott Mac - Coming On Strong (Bobellow vs Euphoriah Remix) 03. Tiesto - Sparkless (Airscape Mix) 04. ATB - 9PM (Till I Come) (Signum Remix) 05. Y-Traxx - Mystery Land (Sickboy Courtyard Remix) 06. Skip Raiders feat Jada - Another Day (Perfecto Dub) / (Perfecto Remix) 07. Lange feat The Morrighan - Follow Me (Lange's Club Mix) 08. Ayla - Ayla (DJ Taucher Mix) 09. Fragma - Toca Me (In Petto Remix) 10. Mauro Picotto - Lizard (Claxxix Mix) 11. Sunburst - Eyeball (Eyeball Paul's Theme) 12. Southside Spinners - Luvstruck (Original Version) I do like these anthems. Can't believe we already consider these as classics. Why does time fly by so quickly? The music was just so pure and magical. I might have offended people with my previous rant, regarding this film. If you do like this film (or Trainspotting or Human Traffic), so be it. I'm just not feeling these films, and their perspective on the raving society. I've not come across a film where the raving society was shown as it truly was: a movement pushed my enthusiasm and love, not just by pills and lunatics. The raving culture deserves more than just a portrayal of us snorting coke and taking XTC for 4 hours in a row.... Anyway, this mix. It's good, but not really that great. The tracks are solid, but the way they were put into this mix is a bit off putting. The BPMs do fly up and down, and there's no build up towards a climactic ending. Normal mixes should start off with a low BPM set, and gradually build up. This one goes up and down, like a bloody elevator. Steady is the key word, sadly missing in this mix. The tracks are good. Especially 'Luvstruck'. That's my favourite. This truly symbolises the early Trance sound to me. The Millennium stuff. The good stuff. I'm still not persuaded to watch this film. But maybe I'll purchase the actual CD. I'm guessing that Judge Jules (who mixed it together) has made it slightly better than this mix? I'm guessing so. - 30 Minutes Of Bass Education #8 - Coki (2014)
Am I the only one who knows of this artist by the two records 'Square Off' and 'Spongebob'? I remember buying the CD 'Sound Of Dubstep', and I think it was 'Spongebob' on it. That was my introduction into Coki, and quickly after I remember checking Youtube to see if he made more records. The one that stuck, was 'Square Off'. But after listening to those two records, Coki disappeared in my books. Don't know why, seeing as I really liked both records a lot. Anyway, a few days ago I stumbled across the CD on which his song appeared on, and I pressed play. I immediately fell in love again with the Dubstep sound from around 2010, and when I heard Coki's song, everything fell into pieces. I danced around my living room like a monday on pure acid. And it felt good. So I went onto Soundcloud, to see if there was more Coki, and thankfully, there was. This channel called 'FatKidOnFire' (what's in the name?) made this dedication mix back in 2014, and it contains 20 records by Coki! 20 records in 30 minutes, wtf? Are you for real? This is going to be amazing, if the records are as good as 'Spongebob' and 'Square Off'. So if you are like me, love the tracks we all know, but want to hear more, check out this mix: 01. Intro 02. Coki - Jah Fire 03. Coki - Mood Dub 04. Coki - Warlord Riddim 05. Coki - The Sign 06. Movado - Gangsta 4 Life (Coki Remix) 07. Coki - All Of A Sudden 08. Coki - Spongebob 09. Coki - Burnin' 10. Coki - Bass 11. Coki - Old Hope 12. Coki - Bloodthirst 13. Coki - Goblin 14. Coki - Mad Head 15. Coki - Tortured 16. Coki - Red Eye 17. Coki - Square Off 18. Coki - Dry Cry 19. Coki - Serious 20. Coki - Bobs Pillow Just looking at the tracklist brings a smile to my face. So simple, these tracknames. No mucking about, no deep and profound meaning, just titles like 'Red Eye', 'Dry Cry', 'Burnin'' and more. Why overcomplicate things when simplicity is key? But only the titles are simple, the music is on a deeper level. The kind of Dubstep I really like. Sadly after 'Spongebob' and 'Square Off', Coki disappeared on my radar, but he's been a busy boy. It could just be my fault for not following him, but Dubstep kind of wasn't my thing at one stage, so I stopped listening to it. Maybe I should have, would have known about Coki and his musical presence in the scene. I do love this mix by FatKidOnFire. 30 minutes long, 20 records crammed in. Nothing wrong with that. But which of those 20 records stood out? Well, there's one simple answer to that: 'Square Off'. It's even better than the song named after a cartoon character. So deep and on a different level man. I loose myself completely when I hear those familiar keys. A wonderful mix to start your Sunday morning with. Nice and relaxed. And I will definately follow Coki on social media. I have to. It's been nearly 10 years since I last heard from him. - A-Lusion - Live At Last World 2013
You know when you are browsing through your music folders on your PC that you will find within those folders hidden and forgotten records. And seeing as I've got thousands of them, I came across a record that I completely forgotten about. A-Lusion's 'Too Close'. Remember that song? 'Don't feel my body, boy, feel the rhythm'. That was truly an amazing record, and when I went through my Hardstyle folder and I heard this one again after a few years, I decided to go Soundcloud and see if I could find it there. I did, and it was part of this liveset, recorded back in 2013 at Last World. A half hour set with 8 wicked A-Lusion records, and of course 'Too Close' included in the set. I've never heard of this event, if I'm truthfully honest. Seeing the party history on Partyflock it shows that the last Last World was held in 2015, but after that it disappeared. The line-up of the 2013 edition looked good, with several awesome areas such as the Cenobite Records area, Fresh Beats, Theracords, T-Town Masters, and of course the mainstage, where A-Lusion played. The whole event got good reviews, and now it's time to judge A-Lusion's set. But first we need to see the actual tracklist. And it's a short one. 01. A-Lusion - Start Living (Live Edit) 02. A-Lusion - Electric Sky 03. A-Lusion - Don't Wanna Know (2012 Edit) 04. Linkin Park - Burn It Down (A-Lusion Bootleg) 05. A-Lusion - Make Up Your Mind 06. Bastille - Bad Blood (A-Lusion Bootleg) 07. A-Lusion - Too Close (Live Edit) 08. Sylenth & Glitch - Music In You (A-Lusion 2013 Live Edit) This is such a wicked set, sadly only lasting for 30 minutes. I do love a set to be a bit longer, but hey, at least the people in Belgium got a bit of A-Lusion. And that's always a bonus. Within the space of 30 minutes he demolishes the stage. And especially when 'Too Close' started, that's definately a goosebump moment. Don't get me wrong, the previous records were awesome too, but 'Too Close' is just wicked. But is this version as good as the version I've got saved on my PC? I'm not a fan of Linkin Park, and normally find the vocals used in records by the vocalist of that band not great. But in this song 'Burn It Down' it's slightly tweaked, and the result is probably the first ever Linkin Park used song that I like. Oh, and what about Bastille's song? Never even heard the original before, but it's catchy as fuck. The big moment you've been waiting for: is this live edit of 'Too Close' better than the original? It's okay, but I would still prefer the original. But without a doubt this is a dancefloor smasher: there's no way you are going to sit still and pretend nothing is happening around you: you will rush to the dancefloor immediately once you hear this anthem. A wicked mix. And it's also free to download, so what are you exactly waiting for? - Theory Of Core - Welcome To Thunderdome Mix (2017)
This weekend the mighty Thunderdome returns. The latest edition of this majestic event will be home to thousands of ravers from all over the world, celebrating an icon that spawned others to join the Hardcore scene. The grandad of them all, the big daddy. If you think about Hardcore, you think of Thunderdome. Be it the early stuff. the Millennium sound, or the new sound, Thunderdome has been a part of our culture since 1992. Nearly 27 years ago. An event in the EDM scene that has been significant for 27 years? There's no other that can compete. The music has capture a generation, and will capture the feeling of generations to come. I grew up with the sound, and it has been my main focus for most of my teenage years. When I visited a Mysteryland back in 1998, and walked into the Thunderdome area, it was like I had returned home, to the holy grail. I've been there. I was part of a culture, and will be until the day I die. I will mention to my grankids that 'opa used to rave hard, until his knees stopped working and the BPMs became too hard to absorb through my hearing aids'. But until then I will love, embrace, and remain part of Thunderdome. And as they said back in the 90s (was it G-Town Madness?), the legacy continues. It will never die. It might stop for a short time, but it will always come back. It will even come into our cinemas! Have you heard about the Thunderdome film? Nope? Well, go to Youtube and see the trailer video for Thunderdome. A film I am interested in. Anyway, back to this mix. Theory Of Core made this promo mix 2 years ago, and when I typed in the search bar on Soundcloud the word 'Thunderdome', this was one of the highest ranked mixes. So I had to give this a go. And you should do the same. Especially if you are getting ready for this weekend. 01. Marshall Masters - Stereo Murder 02. Forze DJ Team - '98 To Piano 03. Darrien Kelly feat Attic & Stylzz - Beaten Like A Bitch 04. Ectomorph - Heartbeat 05. Wasting Program - Bring That Shit Back 06. DJ Isaac & The Viper - Funky Beats 07. 3 Steps Ahead - Hardcore 08. Steve Shit - Commony'all (Move Ya' Bodies) 09. The Masochist - Killing Scum (DJ Promo meets Shaolin Mix) 10. Damage Inc. - Turn Around (Remix) 11. The Prophet & Buzz Fuzz - Go Get Ill 12. Bass-D - Thunderdome Shake 13. Dano - Welcome To The Thunderdome 14. DJ Buzz Fuzz feat Bass-D & King Matthew - It's Alright (Stunned Guys Remix) 15. Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ 16. Razzle Dazzle Trax - Rattlebrain (Korsakoff Remix) 17. Neophyte & Promo feat Minckz - TD Is YOU (Thunderdome 2012 Anthem) 18. DJ Jappo & Lancinhouse - Bring The Fine 19. Square Dimensione - A Brand New Dance 20. E-Rick & Tactic - Don't Like Mondays (Original BZRK Mix) 21. The Prophet - Dominatin' 22. 3 Steps Ahead - Thunderdome Till We Die 23. DJ Gizmo - There Is No Other (Bass-D 2015 Remix) Well, this is a rather unusual mix, isn't it? You've got your main classics, a few forgotten classics, and just some that don't fit in. I do not know how to describe it, but you had your 'Thunderdome' sound, and you knew exactly if a record would be on a Thunderdome collection CD or maybe on a 'dodgier' CD, like 'Hardcore Fruitfly Volume 264 mixed by DJ Bobo', with a sketchy drawn picture of a raver on the cover, dancing with a fruitfly with big breasts. We had some weird covers back in the 90s. Of course the all time classics had to be played by Theory Of Core. Like 'Stereo Murder', 'Hardcore', Name Of The DJ', 'Thunderdome Till We Die', and they still remain powerful anthems. No word of a lie. And I used to like a lot of Thunderdome records, and even some anthems. But my least favourite was the 2012 anthem. Which is sadly included in this mix. But it's still part of the legacy. Oh, and what about the 'Thunderdome Shake'. Funny at the time for 32 seconds, but that was oh so 2010-ish. The best record? Well, give the man credit when he deserves is: DJ Dano's absolute monster masterpiece 'Welcome To The Thunderdome'. An anthem which will give many oldskool ravers goodsebumps from head to their toes. An epic anthem, that has stood the test of time, and has become a big record, one symbolizing the movement which was called Hardcore. Or to those that were part of it, gabbers, this anthem was everything. It was time to go to the Thunderdome, let Tina Turner's scream fill your lungs, head, and heart, and despite the world watching, we entered it, and felt part of a culture so unique. This mix is nice, but has some flaws. Some records are not my cup of tea (E-Rick & Tactic have made far more superior records, compared to this garbage fire 'Don't Like Mondays'), but it still captures a feeling. To those going tomorrow: have fun. Stay safe, and rave. Rave like you've never done before, and remember: Hardcore will never, ever die. Hasta la vista, baby (this is a Happy Hardcore Megamix CD reference, if you haven't noticed it, but they still used the same vocalist for the intro as the Thunderdome series). - TCD Top 5 23-10-2019
This monthly feature is back! Have you missed it? Probably not, but that's okay. I just need to see if this gets any views: if not, I will permanently finish this segment. Well, at least I've tried. He who never tries, always fails, eh? Back to what this segment is about. My personal top 5. The title is self explanatory. But it is not bound to one style or one genre. This includes literally everything my heart desires and my ears like to hear. You name it, and I listen to it. My musical interest range is huge, and I consider myself lucky for being able to listen to whatever floats my boat that day. One day it's Hardstyle, the next it's game OST, and the next it's 90s pop. So I always find records I keep on playing over and over, for whatever reason. Sometimes it's because the song is catchy, and you just cannot switch it off, and sometimes it's just because I've got memories linked to that specific record. Or simply, to keep it in simple terms: I like the song. And I do find them everywhere (as long as it's on Youtube or Soundcloud: I don't use any other sources). And today I've got songs from both platforms you might like. A bit of everything. A bit of this, a bit of that. Hope you enjoy and appreciate my top 5 of 23rd of October 2019. 01. The Prophet - Roll The Place (1997) 02. Sub Zero Project - The Game Changer (Qlimax 2018 Anthem) 03. Carlo Resoort - Rise (2005) 04. Technoboy - Ti Sento (Original Mix) (2009) 05. Painbringer - Words Of '95 (2014) and as an added bonus, an all time classic anthem you've probably forgotten all about! BONUS. Drax Ltd. - Amphetamine (1994)
- Contagious To The Core Volume Three (2019)
Contagious Records, you know the label, right? The label that keeps on pushing Powerstomp forward (and other styles too, but mainly Powerstomp related music). They have got a new album out, called 'Contagious To The Core Volume Three'. Seeing as I've reviewed the previous two albums, it would have been a shame if this album would have NOT been reviewed by me. Hence why DJ Riko, mastermind behind the label, messaged me, and told me about his latest project. And his project is again very big! As usual, Riko, being the man behind the label, decided to give the fans what they are waiting for: more music. New music. And as I said before in other reviews, Powerstomp isn't that big as it used to be, but Riko keeps on pushing it forward. And with this latest album he has had a few producers providing him with excellent music, artists such as Joey Riot, Bezza, Dubz, Violate, It-Man, himself, and many others. This is an excellent platform for producers who haven't been recognised for their skills. They do get the opportunity to showcase what they are capable of, to the scene. So, on this 1 disc album, you get 17 DJ friendly records. All UK Hardcore sounding records. Carefully selected by Riko. And there are some dancefloor friendly records too, so if you are a DJ and want to get the crowd to loose themselves, why not talk to Riko and get a copy of this? Anyway, this is the tracklist, if you are interested: 01. Violate - I Need A Doctor 02. Riko vs Laurence CC - Back 2 Tha Old Skool 03. Dubz - Crunk 04. KujinFu - Just Like You 05. Bezza - I Got A Donk 06. KujinFu & Arnie - RLY WNT ME (KujinFu VIP Mix) 07. UltieM & Desire - The Rush 08. Riko, Monster & Sketch - Monstah 09. EzKiLL - Jumper 10. Roosy K - King Of My Castle 11. Defekt feat M'IA - Get Through 12. Joey Riot & Dudweiser - We Don't Need You 13. Ganar feat Topkat - Love Of My Life 14. It-Man - This Is My Confession 15. Riko vs KY-L & Grovesy - You Cut Me Up 16. M3-O - Drowning In Silence 17. Kyte WytchWood feat Victoria - Crash & Burn (Jonny El Remix) I don't seem to find a lot of UK Hardcore music lately, so to hear yet another wicked album by Riko is a bonus. Especially when it's filled with music I've not heard before. All exclusive records I've not come across before. And also the artists are mostly unknown. Which makes this interesting. Of course you would expect me to do proper research before writing a review, but seeing as I'm the Crazy Dutchman and not the 'on point' Dutchman, I do not know when this album will be released. Let me check the world wide web for more information. It's out now! So now you can get the album digitlally for £15 or a physical copy for £17. Who doesn't want that, eh? The album starts with vocals from a bit hit (forgot who used it first), and the flow continues. The vibes is continuous, and makes me a happy Dutchman. Some records are sadly a bit too short: I feel like it might have been slightly better if another chorus was added in, but it's not a bad album though. But maybe add a piano section in the middle of certain records, and it would have gripped me from the start. The best record is Riko's own, which he made with KY-L and Grovesy: 'You Cut Me Up'. A bit of the oldschool sound and vibe. Really like that. A good album. Another brilliant album to put on his portfolio. Worth checking out though. Go to RIko's website and order one right now! - inZanity S03E09 - Classics Edition (2018)
I was on Soundcloud the other day (like literally every day), and I found a mix so damn good, I wanted to share it with you guys. But there was a bit so disappointing, I had to NOT review it. The focus of this mix was the early Hardstyle sound, but halfway through the mix it went to the Millennium Hardcore sound, which is great, but not what I was looking for. I wanted to hear a mix dedicated to this Early sound so much, the Hardcore side of it for once ruined it. So I turned to the search-function on Soundcloud, and voila, a new mix appeared. I've reviewed Zany mixes in the past, and when you think of Zany, you think of the Donkey Rollers. And also Hardstyle. Early Hardstyle. Someone who knows a lot about Hardstyle, so by checking his Soundcloud page, it's filled with Hardstyle related mixes. I found one so perfect, I had to give it ago. Last year he made this classics filled mix, and it has blown my mind! Oh, how much I do miss this sound. This is the early stuff, some not even called Hardstyle, but more Hard Dance. Early 00s were good for the music scene. This new sound emerged, and I was full into it. Would I prefer the early sound to the present day sound? The answer, sadly, is yes. Just listen to Zany's mix, and you'll hear immediately what sound I am referring to, and why this is so unique, and still ground breaking. An hour long of early stuff, who wouldn't say yes to that? 00. Intro 01. Pavo & Zany - Porn 02. Zany - Thugs 03. Zany - Science & Religion (Science Mix) 04. The Beholder meets DJ Zany - Midnight 05. A-Lusion - Veritas 06. Tatarola - Who Is Calling (Zenith DJ Edit) 07. The Pitcher - I Just Can't Stop 08. D-Block & S-te-Fan - Total Eclipz 09. Frontliner - Warphole 10. Psyko Punkz - 2 Follow 11. Williams Syndrome - Limbo 12. Wasted Penguinz - Melancholia 13. Pavo - Communicate 14. Showtek feat MC DV8 - Electronic Stereo-Phonic 15. The Beholder & Max Enforcer - The Preacher 16. B-Front - Neophobia 17. Crypsis - Strike 18. Digital Punk & Profyler - Dark Symphony 19. Shadowlands Terrorists - Shadowlands Anthem (Zany & Vince's Zoveelste Remix) Three records immediately jumped out, stood out from the rest. And I've got to say that, even though they are seen as classics and are a tad old (not really), they have stood the test of time, and should still get the recognition they deserve. I remember when I heard these for the first time, I fell in love with these three, and even in 2019 I am still amazed by the sheer quality of these anthems. Would I call these my three favourite Early anthems of all time? Well, they are top 10 worthy, let's call it that. But definately wicked anthems. Jump into the three anthems I have put as my favourite of this mix: 'Communicate', 'Veritas', and 'Warphole'. There we go, I've mentioned them. I cannot stress the fact that these are my three favourite records of this mix, and yours could be the same or different. Whatever floats your boat. But can we all just appreciate these anthems, and also reminisce to a lost time of Limewire, where we all had a look and found the worst kind of rips of these anthems, with the worst titles. Boy, those years are gone... Obviously Zany had to play a few of his own records in here, which makes sense. And it makes this mix even better. He has got a good ear: his selection has made my day. I will go through my collection, and hit those old compilations again. I must hear this long lost sound again. Why can't this come back? I've got only love for this mix. More mixes like this one please. Bring back the early sound, and do it NOW! - Smith & Brown - The Full Update (2019)
A few months ago, a Soundcloud DJ called Hamilton, made this dedication mix, and I found it and wrote a nice review of it (well, I think it was nice, but I could be oh so wrong). After a quick browse through my page I found the original mix (click HERE) and I have to say that I still stand by my comments. But Hamilton wasn't sitting still: he decided to create an updated version of his Smith & Brown mix. My focus the last couple of weeks has been outside the Trance scene, and I haven't heard a Smith & Brown song or mix in a while. Which is a pity. I need more of their Trance music, especially their perspective on Tech Trance. I remember the first time I heard their 'Last Landing' song: it grabbed me and I was hooked straight away. The power behind this song is tremendous, and when they made their Rielism mix, they gained another fan. But I'm not the only one, and Hamilton probably thought the same: their music is awesome. Even though Smith and Brown look in the above image like they are about to jump at you through your screen, they are extremely fine producers and DJs. Hamilton's mix is to show his admiration for these two producers. This hour and a half long mix contains only records made or remixed by the legendary duo. And even though you do not know who they are, you should embrace them for their music: they make heavenly music. Check out this tracklist. The previous mix was only an hour long, so you can consider yourself lucky: an extra minutes of Smith & Brown. 01. Smith & Brown and Sam Johnston - Get Down (Extended Mix) 02. Impact - Sands Of Persia (Smith & Brown Extended Remix) 03. Smith & Brown - We Got The Funk (Original Mix) 04. Sied van Riel - Atomic Blonde (Smith & Brown Remix) 05. Smith & Brown - Zero Cool (Original Mix) 06. Smith & Brown - Human Resources (Original Mix) 07. Smith & Brown - Flesheater (Original Mix) 08. Etamin - Covenant (Smith & Brpwn Remix) 09. Everlight - Dopamine (Smith & Brown Remix) 10. Smith & Brown - Tilt (Extended Mix) 11. Smith & Brown - Universal Chaos (Original Mix) 12. PROYAL - Epode (Smith & Brown Remix) 13. Smith & Brown - Last Landing (Original Mix) 14. Smith & Brown - Sudar (Original Mix) 15. Andski - Blossom (Smith & Brown Remix) 16. Smith & Brown - Foul Matter (Extended Mix) 17. Smith & Brown - Leviathan 18. Smith & Brown - Nightmare (Original Mix) 19. Allende - False Memory (Smith & Brown Club Mix) 20. Christoph - Voice Of Silence (Smith & Brown Bootleg) Previous Hamilton mix only contained 12 records, and with this he has gone all out: 20 precious Smith and Brown produced or remixed records. What else could you ask for? There's nothing on God's given Earth that can create this amount of happiness right now. Who needs a new phone, who needs a new Playstation, who needs money, when you can have an hour and a half of pure Trance music? See, I do talk bollocks from time to time, but you know it makes sense. I can only give Hamilton credit for making this mix. This duo deserves a bigger stage, and their music has been picked up slowly, but they deserve more and more. The world is their oyster (which I do not understand, why oysters when they look absolutely vile?). Since 'Last Landing' they have been on my radar, and this mix just shows us all how awesome they are, and how good their music is. Of course I have to pick one record, and this time it's not the biggest hit, it's 'Nightmare'. What an epic record!! Have you heard it? Pure Trance vibes. This has made TCD a happy bunny. Come to think of it, I will still give 'Last Landing' credit for being such a dark anthem. Love it. Thanks Hamilton for making this flawless and epic mix, and thanks to Smith & Brown for making wicked music. Where would we be without these two fine producers? Not in an oyster bar, that's for sure. - Sound Rush | X-Qlusive Holland 2019
The Dutch, what a wonderful group of human being. The Dutch have been on the forefront of music since the mid 80s, and have dominated the world scene with their unique events and the way these events have been organised. With visitors from all over the world, the Netherlands is a safe haven for those who like to party, and when they party, they want to party hard. Where else on this globe would you like to go, to have a great time? Other countries might have copied the way we organise parties and do things, but the atmosphere in the Netherlands has always been splendid. But is there an event so unique and so Dutch, you have to experience it at least once in your lifetime? Yes, this event is called 'X-Qlusive Holland'. During this event, everything and everyone turns orange. And no, not orange like Donald Trump. Orange is the colour of the Netherlands, and for this event you had to wear official Dutch attire. The music accompanied this event has also got a Dutch feeling to it: if it does have Dutch lyrics, it gets played. But it needs to be hard and rough, that's the main gist of it. And you need to have fun, a lot of fun. An event I would like to go to, seeing as I am Dutch (even though other Dutch people do not consider Limburgers as Dutch). This year's event had a wicked line-up: Bass Chaserz, D-Fence, Dr. Ruthless, Endymion, Outsiders, Primeshock, Ransom, Warface, Wildstylez, and more. And the one set I've found on Youtube is the one by Sound Rush. This duo, consists of twins, have been on everyone's radar for a while, and have been pushed forward by the legend that is Headhunterz. And I've got to say that I'm really digging their style. But is their X-Qlusive Holland set one I would appreciate? Trracklist is required, so here it is: 01. Sound Rush - For You Edit (Intro Kermis Mashup) 02. Dee-Block & S-te-Pack - Love Don't Hurt Me 03. Kriss Kross Amsterdam x Kraantje Pappie x Tabitha - Moment (Sound Rush Remix) 04. Headhunterz & Sound Rush feat Eurielle - Rescue Me 05. Cascada - Everytime We Touch (Sound Rush Remix) 06. Rene Schuurmans - Hela Ho (Sound Rush Remix) 07. Refuzion - Around The World (La La La) 08. Headhunterz & Sound Rush feat Eurielle - Follow Me w/ Cooldown Cafe - Hey Baby 09. Topmodelz - Your Love (Atmozfears & Sound Rush Remix) 10. Da Tweekaz & Sound Rush - Take Me Away 11. Marco Borsato - Dromen Zijn Bedrog (Sound Rush 2019 Remix) 12. Sound Rush - Rhythm Of The Night 13. Def Rhymz - Schudden (Sound Rush Remix) 14. Atmozfears & Sound Rush - Together As One (Live Edit) 15. Wildstylez & Sound Rush - Untamable 16. Refuzion - Drogonstea Din Tei 17. Andre Hazes - Kleine Jongen (Sound Rush Remix) 18. Hollandse Herrie vs Headhunterz - Carnaval Is Our Destiny (Carnavalsversie) 19. 2 Unlimited - No Limit (Zatox Remix) 20. Abel - Onderweg (Sound Rush & RVB Remix) 21. Sound Rush - Take It All (Happy Hardcore Edit) 22. Sound Rush feat Michael Jo - Breakaway (Happy Hardcore Edit) 23. Eiffel 65 - Blue (Tweekacore Mix) 24. Marcus Vayne - William Of Orange 25. Sound Rush feat Frans Duijts - Gezelligheid Kent Geen Spijt (X-Qlusive Holland 2019 Anthem) Wow. How Dutch can you get it? Who would have thought that you could have a Hardstyle set filled with records by Andre Hazes, Eiffel 65, Marco Borsato, Cascada, and more, and it would be extremely cool? I would never have guessed that this would become the standard. Well, it's standard at this event. And Sound Rush did get the crowd hyped up with their really insanely Dutch set. And thousands of ravers went along with the Dutch theme. I don't normally go on Youtube to view mixes, but for this one I had to. Certain livesets become legendary when you've got something to watch, instead of just listening to it. As I said before, this event is one I would like to go to. Not just because I'm Dutch, but because the atmosphere at this event looks epic. Just watch the video below, and you can see it clearly that we (the Dutch) know how to throw a party, and showcase our roots distinctively. We are Dutch, we are orange, and we love to party. Sound Rush's set is happy. It's cool. And Headhunterz is saying the truth, when he gives these boys credit for their music. In this set they've played a lot of their own stuff, and the result is an astonishing mix. It's a bit ruined by the MC, but you all know I am not a fan of MCs at all. Maybe you need to actually be there to feel it and appreciate it, but there's no need for an MC at all. But at least he was having fun. Does that mean that the tunes are all really high quality? Well, some are really good, but some are cheesy as fuck. 'Wiliam Of Orange' anyone? How cheesy can you get it? I do love the set, and felt a bit more orange for a split second. Living in the UK, I do miss the Dutchness we Dutchies have. And how cool is it to have Frans Duijts perform at the end? If you are not Dutch you might find it weird, but it just so damn cool. Check this set out. And appreciate us for being awesome! - Pat B - Oude Liefde Roest Niet (Oldschool Mix) (2019)
If you think of Jumpstyle, you think of Pat B. This living legend has been pushing the new and old sound forward since he emerged onto the scene, and his mixes are always listened to by thousands of fanatics, including yours truly. Huge fan of Jumpstyle (or is it called Tek?), and have always found it disappointing that it was made fun off, when it really didn't deserve to be mocked. I did purchase a lot of Jumpstyle albums over the years, and when it died down, I still kept on listening to it. Thankfully, even in 2019, it's still going strong. Now I have to say that this mix was made for an event which took place a few months ago. Pat B obviously played there, but I wasn't really interested in this event. Also, I am a few months too late: only found this mix yesterday. Anyway, I was looking for a Jumpstyle mix, filled with classic anthems, and came across this one: one of the most played Jumpstyle records on Soundcloud. 32k plays so far. But what is in this mix? Well, the classics. And not just the classics, but also re-edits, remixes, and just plain silly mashups. Everything Jumpstyle related is in here. Why wait? Do you like Jumpstyle? If the answer is yes, you need to check out this mix. Ps. the tracklist isn't really complete: if you do know the missing bits and bobs, please notify me, and I'll add them to the list. 01. FlashPat - Hit My Stereo Hard 02. Vorwerk - Cambodia (Hard Mix) 03. FlashPat - Infinity Vittel 04. FlashPat - Sweet Gravity 05. FlashPat - Phunkee Marissa 06. Francois & Pat B - Illegale 07. Francois & Pat B - Mix The Master 08. Dark E - Bombadrop From The Darkside 09. ID - Bang Bang Cyberphonic 10. FlashPat - 4 Seconds Countdown To The Harddancer 11. Lethal MG - The 303 King_pn 12. Pat B - Cold As Ice 13. Pat B - Return Of Oasis 14. Pat B & Nowaxx - Army Of Hardcore 15. G-Swatt - Gonna Be Da Bea 16. Pat B - 2004 17. Coone - The Return (Ruthless Edit) 18. Pat B - Ain't No Party (2015 Remix) 19. Lethal MG - Derb (Remix) 20. Pat B - Hit My Chapter 1 On The Floor 21. Pat B - Those Days 22. Pat B - Sandstorm 23. Lethal MG - Message Her At The Bootleg Parade 24. The Prodigy - Out Of Space vs You Eternal (Lethal MG Personal Mashup) 25. Pat B - Never Alone In Space Wide 26. K-Maze - The First Rebirth 27. FlashPat - Better (R&B Mashup) 28. FlashPat - Love Popcorn In My Nose 29. FlashPat - Kick This Frozen Flame 30. Pat B - Live Stories Part 1 31. Francois & Pat B - iPussy 32. The Prophet - H3y Twisted World (Pat B & Miss Puss Mash Up) 33. Cherrymoon Traxx - Acid Dream (The Prophet Remix) 34. Ruthless & Dave S - Save The Day 35. ID - Hardcore Vibes Deeper Inside 36. ID - Pullover Back In Time Mashup 37. ID - Fuck The Macarena See! This lights up the Jumpstyle spark in your soul. Full of those classics, and full of exclusive mashups. Some really awesome, some a tad weird (name one person who really liked 'Fuck The Macarena', probably the worst record ever made, next to the Macarena lol). But Pat had fun during his livestream, and so did I, on my way from work today. Jumpstyle all the way! Even though certain records are mashups, I'm still feeling the happy vibes coming through my speakers. But let me tell you one thing: I do love the Tek sound. And it's a sound I do miss. This brings me to the best record in this mix. Pat B's own record '2004' takes me back to the wonderful years of Tek and Jump. This kind of music really spoke to me. Not a lot of bullshit, not a lot of vocals, just pure beats, bass and melodies. That's why I adore this mix, and especially this record. It captures the scene from around 2004 beautifully, and deserves a spot on the top 100 Best Jumpstyle records of all time. Sadly it's been played too short in this mix, but you can look for the longer version on Soundcloud. Pat B is Jumpstyle, and we love him for that. Thanks to people like Pat for keeping Jumpstyle alive. Combining the early 00s with the present day, and what do you get? A fucking epic mix. Just listen to this bad boy, and think of the good ol' days, when TMF had silly programmes, focussed on how to do the Jump dance, and Patrick Jumping, literally jumping everywhere. What a shite period. Music wise it was good. Media side of it wasn't. But, as most would say, at least we've got the music still. - Paranoizer - Back 2 1996 Mix (2019)
1996 was a wonderful and memorable year for Hardcore music. Not only did we get a year full of awesome music, but Happy Hardcore became big. You might disagree and think I'm talking bollocks, but I am not. For me Happy Hardcore is as good and big as Early Hardcore. Back then the lines were thin between both styles: just look up some CD collection and those focussed on the 'harder' side still had a few Happy Hardcore records on them, and visa versa. 1996 was a tremendous year, because the music was good. Still produced with basic materials, but to me it has left a mark like no other style since. It was so good, and 23 years later I'm still loving it. Paranoizer made this mix, with records from 1996. It would be weird if he used completely random records from other years if the title pointed out that he is playing only records from '96. Oh, nearly forgot to say that 1996 was the year when Thunderdome had their finest event: just check Thunderdome '96 live CD and you'll know why I am mentioning this CD. All in all, a fantastic year. And obviously a good year to make a mix of it. This mix contains shitloads of records from labels such as Mokum Records, ID&T, Cenobite Records, K.N.O.R. Records, Coolman Records, Bad Vibes Records, Hellraiser Records, and more. So at first glance it's not going to be boring. An hour long mix with 31 records. Paranoizer's selection is really ace, and worth a listen. Just glance at this tracklist and you'll know why I'm excited to the core. 01. Crypt - Rise And Shine 02. Da Grimreaper - We Control Da Sound 03. DJ Rob & Tim B - Bleeding Ears 04. Nosferatu - The Future 05. Insane - Supa Dupa 06. Predator - Dubplate Style 07. Tails, Noizer & Waxwezle - House Of Pain 08. Tellurian - Fucked Up Motherfuckers 09. Trickster - White Line 10. Nosferatu - Artcore DNA 11. 3 Da Hardway - Original Rude Boyz 12. Beyonder - The Mind Is A Labyrinth 13. DJ Delerium - I Was Born Hardcore 14. Omar Santana - Track Attack 15. Revolution Team - Let's Hit The Boomstick 16. Tellurian - Hardcore Junkies 17. Sim, Wax & B-Ernd - Plain & Simple 18. X-Caliber - Sanzia 19. Body Parts - Love In The First Degree 20. SPC Hardcore - Original 21. DJ Promo - Hardcore Still Lives 22. DJ Waxweazle - Hardcore Power 23. The Scrumbleheads - How It Sounds 24. Future Shock - Really Strange 25. Future Shock - Scratch Is So Nice 26. Lady Dana & Skorp vs Bass-D & King Matthew - The Execution 27. Jeremy - Throw? 28. Lords Of The Underworld - Loose Control 29. DJ Dano - Fuckem All 30. Disciples Of Annhiliation - Wanna Be A Gangster 31. Stickhead - Check This Mutha Down Obviously Paranoizer's collection is slightly different to us normal ravers. In this case I'm talking about the track selection: I do know around 90% of the records, but Paranoizer has added a few unknown gems to this mix. Never heard of The Scrumbleheads, Future Shock, X-Caliber, Insane, and Crypt. Fuck, that's more than 10% of this mix. But does it make me feel less Hardcore? Nah, I would say it makes me feel more Hardcore. This urge to explore new music has always stayed within me since 1994, so to hear records from 1996 creep up in 2019 is always good. Never too old to learn, eh? So, we are in 2019, and Hardcore is still alive (fuck you Update Magazine, who's still alive, eh?). This mix is living proof that we have embraced Hardcore, and that it's not going anywhere. Hardcore is here to stay, and I'm glad. This might be a mix focussed on a year long gone by, but it's still dedication and admiration that keeps us ravers moving. I do love the unique sound that came out of the scene around 96. It was such a magical year, and I fully understand Paranoizer's mix and why he selected this year. I've got only love to give. No hate or anything for this mix. 31 amazing records, and they all made me love Hardcore even more. OK, it' now called 'Early Hardcore', but I still love it, no matter what kind of label you stick on it. The mix is just perfect. You need to soak in all these awesome tunes. But it does make me wonder what happened to most of those DJs/producers? Where have they gone? Oh, how I miss the 90s sound. Best record? Oh boy, that was a difficult one this time. But as I said in the first paragraph (or second, who cares) I'm a Happy Hardcore fanatic, and therefore I select 'Let's Hit The Boomstick' as my favourite. An all time classic. Thank you Paranoizer for this wicked and truly mind boggling mix! - M@rt!n-J - Dat 24_7 Sound (2019)
I'm a fan of 24/7, and a fan of UK Hardcore. And secretly a fan of M@rt!n-J. But don't tell him that, it's a secret. Anyway, he's made a brand new mix (as he does nearly every bloody week), and this time it's a mix dedicated to the label run by Al Storm, 24/7! And this label is still going strong, even in 2019! Will you Adam and Eve it, UK Hardcore is still alive and kicking, and kept alive by Al Storm and friends. And the amazing thing is, that the sound is still so damn good. The label pushes out a lot of excellent music from well established names such as Bananaman, Macks Wolf, Euphony, UFO, Alexander Norman, Rob IYF, Al Storm (of course), and more. This makes me happy, seeing as I like each and every artist. Who doesn't like these well respected UK Hardcore legends? So what can you expect in this amazing mix? Well, records from the label, and excellent UK Hardcore vibes from the first to the last second. UK Hardcore isn't dead. It has never been this alive! We just need to keep it alive, and with labels such as 24/7 I am not worried that this will happen. The tracklist, anyone? 01. Al Storm - The Noisemaker Is Back 02. Rob IYF & Disorderlee - Do About It (Dat 24_7 Remix) 03. UFO feat Keileigh MacDonald - I Wanna Know 04. Awesome 3 - Don't Go (Vinylgroover & Bananaman Remix) 05. Alexander Norman vs Whizzkid - King Cobra 06. UFO, Stompy & Supreme - Here Beside Me (UFO Remix) 07. Fitzy K & Rob IYF - Hide & Seek 08. Alexander Norman - Toys 09. Rob IYF - Heaven 10. The Watchmen - Take On The World 11. Euphony - Welcome To The Rave 12. Dougal & Disco's Over feat Lokka Vox - Reflections 13. Vinylgroover & Unknown - Ice Cold (Eufeion & Danile Remix) 14. UFO feat Keileigh MacDonald - Stand By You 15. Al Storm feat Malaya - One More Time 16. Al Storm & Euphony - Where's Your Head At (Rob IYF Remix) 17. UFO feat Keileigh MacDonald - Together Again 18. Bananaman & Easyvibe - Dust In My Eyes 19. Vinylgroover - My Little Fantasy (Bananaman Remix) 20. S3RL & Rob IYF feat Krystal - I Wanna Stay 21. Fitz K, Glichie & Jaylee feat Harri Rush - Missing You 22. Macks Wolf - Hit 'Em Like This 23. Al Storm & Euphony feat Laelia - Water In The Flame 24. Bananaman - Lucky Star This is a wicked mix. And I can only give M@rt!n-J credit for yet another amazing mix. Only one sidenote: it's got one obvious error, which he obviously has noticed too. Try and figure out which error I'm talking about. You do know it. But does it decrease the quality or outcome of this mix? Nope, not at all. Can I just say that I've fallen in love? Well, not really as such, but I do appreciate Keileigh's voice. Just listen to 'Stand By You' and you'll know why I think her voice is that of an angel! I do love the track a lot of course, but that's also because her voice is just so soothening. True UK Hardcore vocals. Happy and cheerful, and heavenly. OK, best record. It was difficult. There were a few smashers in here, but I've got to pick 'Hide & Seek'. This is EXACTLY what I need to hear! Never heard of Fitzy K before (who doesn't know Rob IYF?) but this is such a WICKED anthem! If I'd be at a rave and this would come up, I would move everyone out of the way and start raving like it would be my last day on Earth! What a dancefloor smasher, eartquake causing record. And a true UK Hardcore anthem! I've sadly got to say that I'm not a fan of remixes of already wicked anthems. Like 'My Little Fantasy' and 'Lucky Star'. I do still appreciate the original more than anything else, and sadly these remixes aren't as good or better than the original. Sorry. But if you are a raver and love everything and you follow the PLUR lifestyle and you love Al Storm and his label, let this be your guide. Yet another amazing mix by M@rt!n-J. - Hellbound Mix By Predator (2019)
As a teenager I remember purchasing the whole Hellbound collection. Well, I think it was the full collection (vol. 1 to 6, right?). Anyway, I've played them over and over, until my ears started to bleed and my record player did not appreciate the discs anymore. That's how much I loved this CD series. And I have to say that they were more damaged than the Thunderdome collection. And that says a lot! But for those who think Hellbound is something only relevant in the past, you are wrong! This weekend, and I'm not joking, Hellbound is taking place at The Box in Amsterdam, and since 1995 they've been alive and kicking. Hardcore until we die, eh? With a killer line-up this is an event you certainly don't want to miss: Franky Jones, Sequence & Ominous, Lady Dana, PCP Live, Predator, Arjuna, Resonant Squad, Xqruciator Live, Frantic Freak, and this is only the first area!! Can you Adam and Eve it? What a sick line up. One of the DJs performing has made a wicked promo mix. And the DJ I'm talking about is Predator. Ask him to make a promo mix and you know that there will be a good outcome! So here's the tracklist to this 36 minute long promo mix. And yes, it's got the classics! Mouth wateringly good. 01. Omar Santana - Necronomicon (Omar's Remix) 02. The Alternative Creators - Sound Creation (DJ Isaac Remix) 03. Annihilator - Ye Shall Die 04. The Coalition - 9MM 05. Predator - The Strongest Gang (The Hood) 06. Omar Santan - Get Ready Muthafuckas 07. Party Animals - Used & Abused 08. Da Predator - Final Confrontation 09. DJ Isaac - Bad Dreams 10. Tellurian - Get Raw 11. Zerox - Pumpin' 12. Omar Santana vs Scott Brown - Mad To Da Bone (Hard Mix) 13. Leviathan - Yes, No 14. ID - ID 15. Bruyaa & Ozonic - Broadcast 16. Davie Forbes - Techno Renegade (Scott Brown's Mix) 17. Bio-Forge - Turbulence 18. True Hardliners - Fuckin' Noise 19. Darrien Kelly & Scott Brown - Geleihoofd 20. Dark Destination - Don't Fuck With Me 21. 3 Steps Ahead - Drop It Will you look at this, eh? This takes me back to the solid days of Hellbound. Do you remember those days,eh? I love these records, all selected carefully by Predator. Truth be told, this is NOT the actual music from the Hellbound albums. Of course I cannot judge the events that took place in the 90s, never had the opportunity to visit one, but the music does not resemble what you could find on the albums. They were harder and rougher Hardcore. The records you wouldn't find anywhere else. It was soo damn tough, and only the hardest motherfuckers would appreciate it. Not saying I was as tough, but still hard enough. You can check Youtube for those albums. But am I complaining now about Predator's mix? Not really though. It's still filled with excellent Early Hardcore music, and you all know how much of a fan I am of this kind of music. Best record? No debate possible, it's Leviathan's 'Yes, No'. Such an underrated classic. If there's a top 100 of all time classics, this should be in the top 10, definately. I've experienced some recording issues when I was listening to this mix, but those are small. Don't let those take the fun away from this mix. Check it out right now, and if tickets are still available, make sure you get them. Be part of a legacy, spawned in 1995, and alive still in 2019. Hellbound. Side note: I just realised that the compilation in question was called 'Hellsound', and not 'Hellbound'. How stupid am I, eh? - Basterd - ZWOLLE MIXTAPE (2010)
I was thinking to start writing this review in Dutch, but that would not be beneficial to those who would like to be introduced to the Dutch Hip Hop scene. And I bet that there are a lot of you out there who have not heard of Dutch Hip Hop before, and never even knew it existed! And I don't blame you: how would you find out that Zwolle, a town in the Netherlands, had a lot of talent that produced Hip Hop? Well, today is the day you are going to find out that the Dutch have got more to offer than just the standard tulips, clogs, and weed. It's difficult to explain each and every record, what they are about. You do need to investigate some time into learning the Dutch language, but there are a few apps out there you can download, and they assist you with learning a language. For me personally Dutch isn't difficult, but that's just because it's my mother tongue. But if you are not Dutch you might find it difficult. In the end it will be worthwhile, because I have found all the records in this mix so touching and moving, and not the same if you compare it to the legendary Hip Hop from the States. The lyrics are true, and generic. Emotional, and no need to swear like mandatory in the States. Hip Hop can be filled with emotions, and a bit quirkiness too. And the artists who you can hear in this mix (A.r.t., Delic, Rico, Sticks, etc) are showing us that Hip Hop suits the Netherlands too. Obviously the biggest duo from Zwolle (Opgewzolle) were part of my childhood, and I was a fan during the short period they were active. 'Hoedenplank' anyone? Back when they were at the top of their game I was full into Hip Hop, and had an Astra F with a banging sound system (you do need that to feel the bass coming through). Zwolle is too far away from where I grew up, but via the power of music it reached this Southern Limburg resident. The tracklist only contains the titles, not the artist names. The one who mixed this together (Basterd, what's in the name?) only used the titles. And for once I cannot be fucked to use Google to find each and every artist on this mix, so if you want to know, just use Google, or if you know each and every name, please share it with me and I'll add it to the list. 01. Buitenwesten 02. Tjappies & Mammies 03. Made In NL 04. Spaanse Vlieg 05. Hardcore Rap 06. Meer Is Er Niet 07. Opgezwolle De Volle 08. Hoogtevrees 09. Hamvraag 10. Werk Aan De Winkel 11. Verliezen Is Geen Optie 33. Eeuwigheid 34. Buitenwesten Outro 35. Eeuwigheid This is obviously something unusual on my page: a tracklist in full Dutch language, and a Hip Hop mix too! But this is the kind of music I listened to during the early 00s to mid 00s. Yes, I do change music style every few years, but that's why I do listen to literally everything. Not only Zwolle has got Hip Hop artists, but to me the sound coming out of this town means the most to me. And especially the music! Just listen to the beats, bass, and melodies! Much better than anywhere else in the Netherlands. But that's my personal opinion. I love the vibes in each and every record, and the true dedication to the spoken word. They can literally speak about anything, and the message does come across. From happy and bouncy lyrics to extremely deep and dark (talking about the sickening disease cancer to someone who passed away). You have to be a master in the Dutch language, but it's worth it. Dutch Hip Hop is something you need to take seriously. I find this mix extremely interesting. Basterd's mix is nice, contains a few cross fading issues, but that's ok. Not something really big, but still something that he can master. To be fair, I have not heard any other Dutch Hip Hop mix before, so I don't know if it's difficult to mix? A nice mixtape from the legends from Zwolle. I wish there were more mixes like this one. I just love the vibes. So cool though, can't believe most records are 10+ years old: they sound like they were made only a few years ago, not more than a decade! Best records? 'Waar We Ook Heen Gaan', and 'Meer Is Er Niet'. - The Horrorist - HATE Podcast 115 (2019)
Who doesn't know the Horrorist? A Hardcore legend, but one that has keep critics busy over the years. This Hardcore DJ and producer (that's how I know him, not his Techno side) has made a few Hardcore anthems, and I have to put a downer on the review now, the record 'Flesh Is The Fever' being voted 'best record of 1997' has to be (for me) the most boring record of all time. A record which I find overrated. Never liked this record. Too weird and too much 'not me'. But how come I am writing a review of his HATE podcast, if I don't like that record? Surely something must have drawn me towards him? Well, I heard the 'One Night In NY City', remixed by Chris Liebing. I do like that record, even though the lyrics are extremely dark and sketchy. I wondered at the time what else of his back catalogue was on Soundcloud, and this pushed me towards this HATE podcast. Not familiar with this podcast series, and I have to say that the name is kind of unusual. HATE podcast? HATE? Kind of quirky, and it does stand out. At first I saw this and maybe they used the concept 'hate records', meaning the artists would only play records they despise, but that's not the case. Again, I only know the Horrorist from the Hardcore heydays, but to hear this Techno mix has changed my perspective on this man. I'm still not liking 'Flesh Is...', but I have decided to start listening to this mix with an open mind, and boy, that has changed my life! It's still dark and edgy, this mix, but oh so good! I much more prefer this side of the Horrorist than the Hardcore side. There, I've said it! 01. Audio Injection - Darker (Original Mix) 02. Folker Zwart - Shade 7 (Jeff Rushin Repaint) 03. Robert Hood - Clocks (Original Mix) 04. Giovanni Carozza - Old Contact (Original Mix) 05. Alex Bau & Mikael Jonasson - Und3rjord (Original Mix) 06. Jeroen Search - Isabor (Original Mix) 07. Mattias Fridell & Alexander Johansson - Classical Monologues (Original Mix) 08. Tafkamp - Shhhh 09. Randomer & Cadans - Anchor (Len Faki Hardspace Mix) 10. Slam - Structure (Original Mix) 11. Schmutz - Carp (Skudge Remix) 12. Persohna - Untitled 04 (Original Mix) 13. Jay Lumen - Connected (Original Mix) 14. Missing Channel - Legion Of Hunger 15. Truncate - Bodega (V2) 16. Ade Fenton - Brooklyn (Original Mix) 17. Guyver's Connection - National Und Standerat (Original Mix) I'm sitting here, typing away, and highly enjoying this podcast. Back in the 90s I would never have thought that I would listen to a Techno mix by the Horrorist. How things change, eh? And as I said before, I do prefer this Techno side of him. You cannot go wrong with Techno. Techno is the friendliest scene of them all. So pure and unadulerated. Unchanged. Simplistic, yet the most real of them all. The coolest sound ever created by mankind. And to hear this on a Saturday morning... what else could you wish for? I can only give credit to Oliver Chesler, a.k.a the Horrorist, for making this truly astonishing Techno mix. Not heard a Techno mix in a while, and when I first listened to this mix fully, I was blown away. The sheer madness is just beyond belief. I've really felt the vibes coming through the speakers, and love the dark and edgy Techno music. I just love it. Absolutely insane mix. A masterpiece. No errors, no flaws. Go and listen to this right now. Don't get the last record though, but that's just me. Best record? All 16. Not the last one. Doesn't fit, but that's a personal opinion. I do find it soooo 80s though. That's cool. No HATE for this mix. Only LOVE! - GPF The Prerecorded S*x Show Unmastered @ Defqon.1 2019
Let me make sure you all understand: my reviews are not to offend anyone. These are my personal views, and if you disagree, I do apologise. But sometimes you've got to write what you feel, and others disagree. So I will continue, and I might offend a few, and a few friends might go missing on Facebook, but so be it. I'm a fan of GPF. You all know it. And I'm not the only one. I've reviewed literally everything they have ever made, and I have seen them perform live at their event. But due to work commitments I could not go to Defqon.1. And also because I was too damn late for tickets. And also my health ain't great. So I've got excuses. But that doesn't mean I cannot enjoy their set, on this little island across the sea (the UK, if you weren't aware). A few days ago I was in the gym, and I found their actual liveset, which was on Q-Dance's Youtube page. And I pressed play. Wish it came with a warning: my sesh was so damn rough and hard, I strained a muscle between my shoulder blades and walked around for a week like Quasimodo. All because of their set. But what it also did, was generate a huge smile on my face. I couldn't stop laughing, and even today, when I'm listening to it again (this time via Soundcloud, it has been taken down from Youtube?). They've got this unique style, and it suits my personality. I'm messed up, and love the music as weird as possible. I can listen to everything, and over the years you have seen all types of genres fly by on my page. But GPF's style has got to be the weirdest one. It hard, rough, and you cannot categorise it. Is it Hardstyle? Is it Hardcore? Is it Terror? Just call it PuzzyCore, and offend even more. But who cares? I like the fact that they take the music with a pinch of salt, and laugh about it. Mocking themselves, mocking others, and just generally having a laugh. And having a fantastic PR team behind it. If you have missed the Piep Kick debate online, how quickly it escalated to a t-shirt and a 'movement', with an accompanied record to underline their 'hate' to the piep kick (that they use in literally everything!). See, GPF is a mind set that you can only experience when you are literally f**ked up to the bone. Their set and others disappeared from Youtube. Someone was quick enough to record it, and put it onto Soundcloud. So for now we use the Soundcloud player, but when Q-Dance uploads the sets again, I will change it to the Youtube video. Got other sets I want to review too, but you've got to see the madness. And you definately want to see GPF's set. What you also see, is the return of Matty! Where the fridge-magnet has he been, eh? The tracklist, before I start waffling about literally everything and nothing (seems like I could just join GPF, my mind works in mysterious ways)..... 01. The Pre Recorded Sex Show V69 UNMASTERED Test.wma (Official Whitelabel Anthem aftermovie original Matty revitalised deqon -6db donk Mix) 02. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Jizzy - Cummin On Ur Face 03. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Jizzy - Who's Ur Daddy 04. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Malice - All Wanna Fuck 05. Da Tweekaz - Moana (GPF & Caines Donk Fuck Duck Piep Kick 2k19 Remix) 06. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat D-Fence - Virgin 07. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - Left Right Left Right Fuck 08. Da Tweekaz - Frozen (Caine & GPF's Frozen Duck Fuck Remix) 09. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & N-Vitral - Greazy Response 10. Brief Intermission 11. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & The Straikerz - Greazemode 12. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & Riot Shift - Broccoli Fuck 13. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & Lil Texas & Taylor Swift - Blank Fuck 14. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & Caine - Fuck Buddy 15. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Mind Compressors - Spaghetti Love 16. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Mizz Behave - Fucked A Girl 17. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Sleazy - Extreme Piep Kicks 18. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - Venga Fuck 19. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - Fuck My Mind (Rooler Remuxxx) 20. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - 69 Million BPM You can say whatever you like, but GPF are weird. Fucking weird. It's not like any other set you might have seen before. The music does not make any sense. It's hard, rough, and funny. A pinch of salt? Probably a big ass teaspoon. I love the fact that the video showed their set being watched by a lot of people. Not just at Defqon.1, but also all over the world. And they just take the mickey out of everything! Which DJ would think about doing a pre-recorded set and get away with it? Which DJ ends a set with a record that plays 69 million BPMs in less than 5 seconds? Who plays a messed up version of the Vengaboys, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift? Who used vocals from a porno and made it a catchphrase: 'don't do it, I'm a virgin'? Only GPF does it. Does that mean you need to take their music serious? No. You don't. Or you can. Depending on what you think of them. Some are extremely against them, and some just love them. The general feeling that they generate is fun. Laughter has been left behind us many years ago. But aren't other styles doing the same at the moment, making people happy, and laugh? Freestyle is one of those styles that just does whatever feels it should be doing. GPF are doing the same, but to the extreme. I'm not trying to get people all against me (who already hate GPF), but I'm just expressing my emotions. If you don't like them, my advise would be to never sit in my car. I think at least once a car journey (and they take up to 3 hours each way) I listen to something GPF-ish. And after discovering their Defqon.1 set, it has been on repeat (also Headhunterz set, but there will be a review coming up shortly). They make me happy. No-one understands them, but no-one understands me either. I have been going through hell the last couple of months, and GPF have made me slightly happier. I want to experience fun and happiness in life: depression already burdens people without them seeing the outcome of it all. When something comes across which might make you happier, grab it with both hands, and let yourself go. GPF do that to me. Music wise I have never been happier. Drokz, if you are reading this: this is indeed fucked up. You are right. But I still like it. Which record is the best? Well, when they announced the return of the much loved Matty, I like that. But the record that destroys me, is 'Extreme Piep Kicks'. That's some serious production skills. The build-up bit is beyond reckoning. Seriously impressive. A wicked set. I wasn't expecting anything less than perfect. Be it pre-recorded or not. Ps. welcome back Matty. Pps. The GPF boys have been kind, and uploaded this set finally onto their Soundcloud page. So enjoy! - Caine - Straight From The Hard (EPS11) (2019)
Caine is back! The bald ginger bloke is back! It's been a while since I last heard a mix by this man: he's been pushing not just himself forward, but also an act called the Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz, ever heard of them? But today it's not about them, it's all about this ginger bellend, nipple loving, Scotchman. He is Scottish, isn't he? (I'm bad when it comes to accents). Wherever he's from, he's a legend. Can't believe he lives in the Netherlands now: the second I move to the UK to live near him, he moves away from me. He did that on purpose. Bastard. Anyway, we are talking bollocks now. Ginger bollocks. But now let's be serious: we should be serious, it's music business we are talking about. Theracords have got their own podcast series, have you heard them? I haven't, and this is my introduction into the 'Straight From The Hard' podcast series. If this is episode 11, there are 10 other mixes you should check out. But let's focus on the eleventh instalment. Who else should you ask? Caine is the obvious choice. This legend is pushing his sound forward, and I'm digging it a lot. In this hour long mix he has selected a lot of his own stuff, but also from a few friends of his. Obviously the main focus is Rawstyle. If this is too hard for you, please make sure you go away quickly! Move away from your screen and hide away from the world. If you think (on the other hand) that Caine is a soft pussy, and his music sucks donkey balls, press play. The tracklist is a beaty. Oh, and of course he played a GPF record. So predictable.... 01. Caine - TBA 02. Caine with Sheryl Daneen - Angels Deserve To Die 03. Aversion - Unleashed (Pro Mix) 04. Yellow Claw feat Juicy J & Lil Debbie - City On Lockdown (Caine Bootleg) 05. Jebroer - Gaan Met Die Banaan (Riot Shift DJ Tool) 06. D-Sturb - Until It's Gone (The Next Level Edit) 07. Caine - There Will Be Blood 08. Rooler x Caine - Worthless 09. Malice x Luminite - Death Destruction (Malice Live Edit) 10. Riot Shift - From The Grave 11. Radical Redemption - Accumulated Filth (Resurrection Mix) 12. Caine - Underground Movement (Kick Edit) 13. Caine - Bring The RAW 14. Caine - Chunky 15. Delete & Rooler - Annihilate (Original Mix) 16. Riot Shift - Boundaries 17. Caine - Way Of Prophecy 18. Dither - Lethal Drop 19. Awoltalk - Deadonarrival (Caine Remix) 20. Dither & Mike Cervello - The Get Down 21. Caine & John Harris - No Mercy (Caine's 200 BPM Remix) 22. Caine feat Gyze - We Fight Together 23. Bombsquad x F.Noize - The Chop Show 24. Gravedgr - Rampage (Caine Remix) (220 BPM Rampage Mix) 25. Rooler - Yes! (GPF - Fuck! Remix) Am I just imagining things, or is this mix hinting towards an upcoming Caine album? So much of his own productions in here. A few collabs, a few new records, and of course the hit of this moment (with Sheryl Daneen). Caine is on a roll, but is it finally happening? Is it coming? Ah, thanks Caine for naming a record after me. That's cute. 'Chunky'. More podgy, but still, chunky will do. Anyway, this mix. It keeps on reminding us listeners that this was done live, but where? Was it in Caine's bedroom? In DJ Thera's secret sex dungeon? In Matty's fish & chips shop? Where was this done, and how come I wasn't invited? Wherever it might have been done, it was a good location. Caine is on fire and gives us exactly what we need to hear. It's starts off with some nice Rawstyle anthems, and ending the mix with some ridicilous beats (must have been at least 69 BPM more than most of us can handle?) But he does the most logical thing: start slowly and finish hard and rough. It's like having sex. Can't start all hard and rough: you won't have any juice left after 40 seconds. You know I'm all jokes. I love life, and embrace as much as I can. So when I talk bollocks, you know I'm lost for words, and I'm trying to fill in as much as I can, to look rather professional. But with this mix I simply urge you to honour the legend, and press play. And bombard his Facebook and Twitter page, and ask when his bloody album is coming out. We need more Caine. Pussy videos are nice, but music is all that matters. And nipples, that's for sure. I've had a blast listening to this filth. Caine, you big bald fuck, you've done it again. Best record? Pfew, there are two. But D-Sturb's 'Until It's Gone' is just pure filth, and 'Bring The RAW'. I just had to choose these two. Couldn't just pick one. If I had to, it would be D-Sturb's record. When you hear this record for the first time in this mix, the bass just hits you harder than the previous records! Pure filth. Thanks Caine! You've made my Wednesday! Now go make pussy videos again. - TCD Top 5 22-09-2019
Crikey, it's been a while since I last did a Top 5 list. I had a few days off, and now I'm back. What has happened inbetween? Well, I found a KELTEK mix, and my love for Hardstyle has erupted, like a volcano. I've been listening to a lot of Hardstyle lately, and it has dominated my long car journeys. But in a positive way: it made each journey much more bearable, much more enjoyable. So what kind of Hardstyle am I talking about? Well, excellent records that will do well in any DJ set. But you don't need to hear them in a set only: on their own they do have the power to change your mood in a split second. You will know what I'm talking about once I have shown you my favourite 5 of today. Some new, some old, and some of everything. This week's list is for the die-hard Hardstyle fanatics. Hope you enjoy it! 01. Headhunterz & Wildstylez - Project 1 (Sound Rush Remix) (2017) 2. Demi Kanon feat MC DL - Grace (2019) 3. D-Sturb & High Voltage - Universe (2018) 4. D-Sturb & MC Nolz - Conflict Override (Official Shockerz 2017 Anthem) 5. Headhunterz - Home (2019) And we will end with a funny record. I could only wish for the opportunity that GPF releases songs longer than 2 minutes long. But this jokey song is just what you need to hear. Beats, bass and melodies? Check! 69. GPF - #VOTEGPF (2019)
- Monkey Kong Presents: The D-Sturb Special (2019)
The other day I reviewed KELTEK's Defqon.1 mix, and in it, one of the dopest records selected by KELTEK was made by Da Tweekaz and D-Sturb. Quickly after discovering 'Anything', I went on the hunt for something D-Sturb related, and I came across this mix by Monkey Kong. Of course I've seen D-Sturb's name before, but I'm not fully into who's who in the scene, so I went for a quick search. This young producer has been raising eyebrows in a good way since mid 10s, and has been a favourite for many, producing dope anthems. After browsing for some information, to find out who's behind D-Sturb, I quickly became bored. Not because his history is boring, but because I'm not really that into that kind of information: I'd rather listen to music instead of reading about artist's history. So I quickly went back to Monkey Kong's mix, and the thing that struck me immediately, is the fact that they used a lot of awesome records, and that D-Sturb worked with the finest names in the Hardstyle/Rawstyle scene: Radical Redemption, E-Force, Act Of Rage, Warface, Nolz, Requiem, and more. If you are into Hardstyle/Rawstyle and love what D-Sturb makes, you'd better turn up the volume and make sure you are ready for an hour of awesome music. 35 records in 58 minutes: a full on megamix. 01. D-Sturb - On Your Mark 02. D-Sturb & Requiem - Ain't Changing Me 03. D-Sturb - Ready To Roll 04. D-Sturb & Alee - Party At My Place 05. D-Sturb - Ancient 06. D-Sturb - Losing Myself 07. Warface & D-Sturb feat Emese - Pull The Killswitch 08. D-Sturb & MC Nolz - Conflict Override 09. D-Sturb - High Power (The Next Level Remix) 10. Da Tweekaz & D-Sturb - Anything 11. D-Sturb feat Emese - Legacy 12. Warface & D-Sturb - Open Your Eyes 13. Rebelion - Rawfare (D-Sturb Remix) 14. Radical Redemption & D-Sturb - Ride On Our Enemies 15. D-Sturb - Anxious 16. MC Nolz & D-Sturb - Speak What You Know 17. Warface & D-Sturb - Drown 18. D-Sturb feat MC Nolz - Aiming For The Top 19. D-Sturb - Unbeatable 20. D-Sturb - Marked For Death 21. D-Sturb - Until It's Gone (The Next Level Remix) 22. D-Sturb feat Emese - The Ultimate 23. D-Sturb & High Voltage - Universe 24. D-Sturb - The Next Level Mashup 25. D-Sturb - Apocalyptic Darkness (The Next Level Remix) 26. Radical Redemption & D-Sturb - Kill Me 27. Radical Redemption & D-Sturb - Danger Zone 28. E-Force & D-Sturb - Once Again 29. Frequencerz & E-Force - Attention (D-Sturb The Next Level Remix) 30. Act Of Rage & D-Sturb - Let The Games Begin 31. Warface & Frequencerz - Menace (D-Sturb The Next Level Remix) 32. Radical Redemption & D-Sturb - Testarossa 33. D-Sturb & Malice - Drop 'Em Down 34. D-Sturb - Obey 35. D-Sturb - Nothing Like The Oldschool That was genuinly a power hour! Bloody Nora, I've not sat still at all! Couldn't believe Monkey Kong using 35 records in 58 minutes, and it turned out to be superb! I've heard a few 'megamixes' recently, and I'd say that the quality was poor. This one is the complete oppossite: nice and refreshing, really keeping the listeners hooked to D-Sturb and Monkey Kong's fast paced mixing. There are 35 excellent records to select from, but I've selected two: if you disagree, I'm not really bothered about that. But my two favourite D-Sturb records in this mix has got to be 'Conflict Override' and 'Universe'. Fight me. But I find these two records absolutely amazing, and they had me going completely ape (see what I did here, Monkey Kong?). Of course it wasn't easy to select these, but I found these two standing out from the rest. I can go on and on about D-Sturb and Monkey Kong, but I don't want to: we all got things to do on this boring and rainy Sunday, so let me just push you towards this mix, press play, and let this our long mix rule your life. Be it only for an hour, but within those 58 minutes your ears will say 'thank you' multiple times. Earporn this is. - The Colors Of Defqon.1 2019 | RED Mix By KELTEK
Damn it, I'm always late. Should I even consider continueing blogging, if I only give you old mixes? Bugger me, this mix has been online for several months, and I've only discovered it yesterday! Bear with me, don't get all hyped up: I sadly didn't go to Defqon.1 , so my timeline wasn't filled with Defqon.1 posts or ads. But still, it would have been nice to have heard this absolute insane mix. Have you heard this one? I'm guessing you have. What a shite blogger I am. Anyway, if you haven't heard this mix yet, you are in for a treat! When I saw this mix, I pressed play, and immediately landed in Defqon territory. My God, I got the Defqon bug from the first second to the last. KELTEK, who used to be part of Psyko Punkz if I'm correct, has made this absolutely bonkers mix, containing the finest melodic Hardstyle anthems, the ones you would have heard at Defqon.1 this year, if you actually went. I didn't. But I closed my eyes, and for a split second I was among the thousands of fanatics, and felt invincible. Stronger than ever, powerful. Currently I'm in a Hardstyle mode, and hopefully it will last quite a while (I switch between music genres at least 4674674 times a week). If you are really into this mix, why not have a look at Defqon's latest CD, KELTEK has the honour to be the first out of four artists to showcase his skills. Others on this compilation: Sefa, Phuture Noize, and Delete. But for now, let's focus on KELTEK's Defqon.1 promo mix. And again, if you are digging melodic Hardstyle, you NEED to hear this one. 01. KELTEK - One Tribe (Defqon.1 2019 Anthem) 02. Wildstylez & D-Block & S-te-Fan - Wolves Cry 03. D-Block & S-te-Fan & DJ Isaac - World Renowned 04. Atmozfears x Sound Rush - Together As One 05. Hard Driver & KELTEK - Valley Of The Blind 06. Brennan Heart with Coone feat Max P - Fight For Something 07. Demi Kanon & Inverze - Break The Silence 08. Headhunterz & Sound Rush - Follow Me 09. Audiotricz - Don't Say Goodbye 10. Armin van Buuren - Wild Wild Son (Devin Wild Remix) 11. Sub Zero Project & KELTEK - Break The Game 12. Demi Kanon & DL - Grace 13. Devin Wild - Dream Deferred 14. Bass Modulators - Ruffneck Bass 15. Headhunterz & Sub Zero Project - Amen 16. Da Tweekaz & D-Sturb - Anything 17. E-Force & Rejecta - Kicked Out I've not been this excited for a mix like KELTEK's mix. The tracklist looked alright (alright, I'm not a 100% Hardstyle fanatic like the most of you, and haven't even heard 99% of these anthems), so when I pressed play,I entered a new dimension. It's like KELTEK ripped me a new arsehole without even asking. Or is that analogy not correct? What I meant was that this mix is beyond belief, and that's just because of all these anthems! I've been in and out of the scene every so often, but this set with these tracks shows promise to me. I think it's time for the scene to say 'welcome back' to me, TCD. I need more of this Euphoric Hardstyle: who cannot appreciate melodic and euphoric Hardstyle should really question their existence. I just cannot believe the amount of excellent melodic anthems! Yes, Rawstyle is rising on a daily basis, but thankfully we've not forgotten the melodies. To me an record becomes an instant classic when you can whistle alongside it. And ALL of these 17 records have that power! I've not stopped whistling and humming since the first time I heard it. And I'm driving people mad. The CEO of my company even looked at me when he walked passed. I whistle loudly. The biggest surprise in this mix is a record by Da Tweekaz and D-Sturb. As regulars know I'm not a fan of their music and the cheesy stuff, but this is next level shit. If only they could make more of this kind of stuff, they would have gained a new follower. This is big, this is worldly, NO, Heavenly music! But not the best record in this epic mix. That goes to 'Grace' by Demi Kanon and DL. This 80s vibe that the record starts with is beautiful, and when the beats kicks in, all hell breaks loose. Also KELTEK's Defqon.1 anthem is truly astonishing. Am I the only one who gets early Hardstyle vibes when hearing that record? I cannot express my happiness. This mix has given me so many happy emotions, and I haven't stopped smiling. Truly an astonishing mix, and showcase of an excellent year in Hardstyle music. I can only give this mix the highest score, seeing as I find this the best mix of 2019 so far. Hell, even the best Hardstyle mix of all time! Why not? - Promo & Ruffneck @ Promo: Sound System Command 21/03/09 HMH Amsterdam
Back in 2009, at the Heineken Music Hall, a party was organised by Q-Dance, dedicated to the legend of the scene: DJ Promo. With a fucking epic line-up , you had to be a complete tool to miss it: Alex B, Promo himself, Endymion, D-Passion, Tha Playah, Ruffneck, The Wishmaster, The Outside Agency, Husz, Void Settler, Ophidian, Rude Awakening, Matt Green, Deathmachine, and Unexist. It's a good line-up, if you are a fan of Promo you wouldn't be disappointed. Between 4 and 5 in the morning Promo joined the decks with his friend Ruffneck, to play an hour of all-time classics. And that set has recently emerged onto Soundcloud. Interesting, yes. I've seen the set before and liked it, but cannot find it among those thousands of 'liked' sets. Fuck me, I need to be more organised. I'm so extremely unorganised: cannot find anything. So this small time user on Soundcloud uploaded it, thanks for that. But I had to go to the channel who has thousands of sets, magpie303. And it does come with a tracklist, so that's a bonus. And, before I forget to mention, you get an added bonus of DJ Ruffneck being pissed off at the end. You will hear why, especially when you are a native Dutch speaker. The tracklist is a thing of beauty, check this shit out: 01. Juggernaut - Ruff Message Part II 02. Predator - The Strongest Gang (The Hood) 03. Wedlock - Ruffneck (Sound Of The Drum & Bass) 04. Reyes - Rock With Me 05. Vanugenth The 5th - Here We Go Again 06. Hard Creation - I Will Have That Power 07. X-Factor - The Underground 08. Knightvision - Who Is It? 09. Promo - Ya Gangsta Music 10. Taciturne - Der Toten 11. Nosferatu - The Future 12. Myztic vs Myrmidon - Pop Goes Da Pistol 13. Diss Reaction - Jiieehaaaaaa 14. Bio-Forge - Turbulence 15. Wedlock - Acid Rain 16. DJ Isaac - Bass And Sound 17. Ectomorph - Heartbeat 18. DJ Rob & Tim B feat Da TMC - Bleeding Ears 19. DJ Promo - Beat Ya Brain 20. Wedlock - The Genesis 21. Predator - Mind Of A Lunatic 22. DJ Neophyte meets DJ Attic & Stylzz - Music Gets You Drunk 23. DJ Promo - Cold As Stone 24. Knightvision vs Wedlock - The Holy Kingdom 25. Undercover Anarchist - Ass Off (Remix) 26. Wedlock - Evolution Theory 27. Knightvision - Knight Of Visions 28. Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ 29. Brian Acardy - Let Da Bass Boom 30. Promo - Battling Ignorance A wicked mix. This will definately wake you the fuck up on this boring Sunday morning. You still asleep? Not for long. Just click 'play' and start enjoying the music. And even though the focal point is not Promo, you do get some Promo records. But the majority of records are from Ruffneck impressive back catalogue (himself and his labels). So, what are you currently waiting for? Press play, you knobhead. I just love the tunes a lot. So many underground anthems, still appreciated and loved by thousands of true die-hard motherfuckers. And I'm one of them. Just sit back and enjoy the anthems selected by both Ruffneck and Promo. Can't believe this event already took place 10 years ago. Maybe a new event is in the pipeline, Promo? At the end Ruffneck has a few words to say. How he appreciates the fact that he was playing with the legend himself, and he asks the audience to make some noise. At this stage they were probably all tired and knackered, so they didn't give their all. Ruffneck stopped the music, explained himself (God cholera lol) and gets the audience to scream their lungs out of their body. He's annoyed, but all in good fashion. He just wants everyone to acknowledge the legend that is Promo (and of course himself too). The tunes selected are all amazing, but as Ruffneck says, the last track is the one that does it for me. What a big anthem. Don't hear that one often. Can't even remember another set in which this was played at all! Two legends behind the decks. What more could you ask for? - Solution - Freeform Summer Selection 2019
The Summer is near to its end, and I've got to say that I've enjoyed 2019's Summer a lot. It has been up and down, but in general I do not think we should complain: at least we had a lot of days during which we could walk around in shorts and t-shirt. The Summer is slowly ending, and only this weekend it's looking good. The weather Gods are still nice to us (or is that storm Dorian?), and we can sit outside and enjoy the last BBQ of 2019. Time to enjoy it, and play the music we all want to hear. Solution, you might have heard of him or seen his name before, is on a mission. Uploading shitloads of his mixes on Soundcloud and Mixcloud (mainly Mixcloud), and they all have a Freeform vibe surrounding it. The one I'm writing about, is the one he uploaded onto Soundcloud a few days ago, and this mix contains records from Stamina Records, Tesla Tracks, FutureProof Sounds, and more. A full on Freeform mix. And that's exactly what we needed. Side note: if you want more of this, just go to Solution's Mixcloud page, and here you will find more mixes you will appreciate. Back to this mix. You want to see the tracklist, right? 01. A.B - Kielo (Digital Commandos Remix) 02. Greg Peaks - Afro Glean 03. Finnbarr vs Joey Riot - The Devil's Symphony 04. A.B & Substanced - Injustice 19. Anon - *Special Unreleased Bonus Track* If you are a Freeform lover like yours truly, you probably had a secret spillage in your downstairs department. Also known as pre-cum. Pre-ejaculation. Normally that's not a big thing, but if you have had that before you even pressed play, you wil have the best eargasm you've experienced in a while. Make sure tissues are at your disposal. You'll need them. So much awesome music in an hour mix. Carefully selected and mixed by Solution. Has Christmas come early this year? Well, to be fair, it's not that far away, and we could see this mix as an early present, right? Two of the best records in this mix, and this is only judged by myself, are 'Badass Geeks' and 'Reboot'. Fight me if you disagree. I could have gone to Mixcloud, but I do seriously dislike it. So hence why I selected this Soundcloud mix by Solution. Which isn't a bad option, to be fair. Go to Solution on several social media outlets, and you will instantly be in Freeform heaven! Oh, and make sure you grab this Summer mix: it's a free download too! Oh yeah baby! Ps. does anyone know the title of the Anon record? And wasn't Gammer Anon? Or am I being absolutely thick now? Pps. if you are liking this, make sure you go to ILHB: he will be there too! Don't know if he's going to play, he could also do a bit of catering, or washing up, who knows? It's an ILHB party: anything could happen. - A Nightmare In Rotterdam 7 - The Ultimate Hardcore Compilation (1996)
Guess what I've found this morning? Nope, wrong! I found this CD, the seventh instalment of the 'A Nightmare In Rotterdam' mix series! And I was immediately back in 1996! Do you experience the same, when you pick up a CD, you instantly feel like you are back in the year it was released? Well, I've got that with a lot of compilations, all dating back to the 90s. I'm a 90s kid, you should know that (born in 83 though). To see this CD and to hear those tunes again made this Friday even better! Who doesn't love Hardcore from 96, name one person who doesn't love it? I remember this CD well: it had a huge fuck up on the side sleeve: it stated it was the sixth episode but it was obviously not. As someone with OCD regarding numbers, it did freak me out. I had to hide this CD from the shelves, but even though the case would not be visible to anyone, the CDs were played over and over. And these CDs contained so many great and wicked anthems. Do you even remember half of these, bro? This wasn't the ultimate compilation, there were others slightly better, but whatever compilation you preferred: they all had unique and different records on them, some you wouldn't hear anywhere else! And this seventh instalment is no exception, this has got shitloads of records so good, and sadly forgotten. Check this out: CD 1: 01. Dionysos - Break On Through (Dymar & Maddox Metal Mix) 02. Critical Mass - Believe In The Future (DJ Weirdo & Sim Future Mix) 03. Neophyte & The Stunned Guys - Get This Motherfucker 04. DJ Pagan - Mister Mister Scarface (DJ Isaac Remix) 05. Wasting Program - Tell Me What You Find 06. Inferno Brothers - Slaves To The Rave (DE 2001 Mix) 07. Too Hostile - Make 'M Clap (DJ Paul Mix) 08. Big Deal - Papa Don't Stop 09. Hard Creation - Bust This Beat 10. Boombastic - Boooooom!!!! 11. Prezioso - Feel The Rhythm (Stunned Guys HC Mix) 12. Short Circuit - No Experiment 13. Ectomorph - The Beginning Of The End 14. Papa San - Perdonament (Discofrisco & DJ Inferno Mix) 15. The Stunned Guys - Beats Time 16. Kit Fox - Combat Zone CD 2 : 01. Body Lotion - Always Hardcore 02. Darrien Kelly vs Bass D & King Matthew - Come On 03. The Ultimate Buzz feat MC Bee - On A Mission (DJ Isaac Live Edit) 04. Angel - Take Me Away (DJ E-Rick & Tactic Mix) 05. DJ Paul - Fuck You Maniac! 06. Masters Of Ceremony - Happy Hour 07. Human Resource - Dominator '96 (K.N.O.R. Hardcore Version) 08. Neophyte - Manic Truth 09. Lunalotic - Basspump 10. Activator - Maniac 11. Lenny Dee vs DJ Paul - Pump It Up 12. Hard Creation - Dance 2 Da House 13. Naughty Boys - 1-2-3 Fuck 14. DJ Attic & DJ Stylzz - In My Mind 15. Darrien Kelly vs Bass D & King Matthew - Generations 16. Lunalotic - Happy House...??? This album comes from a time when Happy and Hardcore were still appreciated in general, and there was no emerging Happy Hardcore CD market, where everything had to be separated. On this edition you can find everything: Hardcore, Gabber and Hapy Hardcore. And plenty of each to find. I wouldn't say this is a majestic CD. But it does contain some excellent tunes, like 'Dominator '96', 'The Beginning Of The End', 'Break On Through', 'Dance 2 Da House', and more. Obviously me being a Happy Hardcore fanatic, I had to choose 'Take Me Away', remixed by E-Rick & Tactic. I just love this compilation: it's so Rotterdam-ish. Most records have got this unique and distinctive sound, only used by producers from Rotterdam. It did have some stinkers on here, like 'Booooom!!!', 'Happy Hour' etc, but it still creates a nice vibe whilst listening to it. The album and its content sounds dated, but all dating back to a wonderful era of music. Hardcore and Happy Hardcore side by side. Wouldn't be long after this that the 'mainstream' started to hate and spit on HHC. A shame and dispicable situation. There was a reason why this was the only 'A Nightmare...' CD in my collection. It's okay. Still makes me move in 2019, but not the best compilation ever. That's for sure. - Joey Riot - Live From Creamfields 2019
When you hear the name Joey Riot, it's difficult not to mention 'fucking' inbetween Joey and Riot. I remember seeing him for the first time at Uproar, and the crowd went mad for him (including yours truly). I think it was the Summer Sounds edition. Many moons ago, yep. But if you think that Joey just sat on his arse doing nothing, you are wrong. Many of you true ravers know that he's been very active in the Hardcore/Gabber scene, being one half of Destructive Tendencies, and now also part of an act called... fuck, what was it called again? Nefarious? Nebula? Something that starts with the letter N. Joey has been a busy bee, but he has never left the UK Hardcore scene completely, which is a good thing. This year's Creamfields had their own KTRA area, and on the Sunday a few acts were playing the hardest music available: Kutski, Darren Styles, MKN, Cally, Crystal Mad, Callum Higby, Obsession, and as a special guest they had DJ Coone. But this set you are about to listen to was recorded at Creamfields, and it was the master himself behind the decks. And expect madness. He doesn't just play UK Hardcore anthems, but also some Hard House, some EDM, and some Hardstyle records. And some quirky cheesy records. But hey, he was the closer of the KTRA area, why not end with a very versatile set? The tracklist is a beauty. You couldn't ask for a more diverse and versatile tracklist. Check it out: 01. Arkangel - Euphoria 02. Kurt - Imagine 03. Joey Riot & Macks Wolf - Mystic Revolution 04. D-Block & S-te-fan and DJ Isaac - World Renowned 05. Dr. Phunk, Steve Aoki & Timmy Trumpet - Hava 06. Da Tweekaz - Scatman (Revese Bass Mix) 07. Audiofreq - Play The Game 08. Da Tweekaz - Tequila (Minus The Crown Remix) 09. Joey Riot, Klubfiller & Alex Prospect - Don't Know How To Make You Happy (Suae x Technikore Hardcore Remix) 10. Joey Riot - Born 2 Late 11. Salvatore Ganacci - Horse (Tweekacore Flip) 12. Darren Styles meets Calvin Harris - How Deep Is Your Switch (Weaver Mashup Edit) 13. Stormerz - Be The One (Macks Wolf Remix) 14. Showtek - FTS (Komb Flip) 15. Technikore - Think About You 16. Minus The Crown - 4 In The Morning 17. Gareth Emery - Take Everything (Joey Riot vs Atom, Gee & Mickey P Flip) 18. CLSM - See You On The Other Side (Joey Riot & Elov8 Remix) 19. Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child (Chaos Hardcore Flip) 20. Joey Riot x Elov8 - Calling 21. Blaster & Project Core - Begins 22. Destructive Tendencies & Evil Activities - Death By Stereo 23. Monkey Bizness - Monkey Dance 24. Headhunterz - Orange Heart I wasn't wrong, the tracklist is literally a mashup of everything. And I reckon that those who remained active until the end were in for a treat, when Joey fucking Riot was closing down the arena. Who else would you want to have, eh? Joey is the man to do just that. Joey knows exactly how to get everything and everyone on the dancefloor, and sitting here at home, I had difficulties sitting still. He has selected some serious dancefloor smashers. You don't believe me? Just listen to this set, and you will hear all of them. But the best one, and it was an easy choice, has got to be 'Imagine' by DJ Kurt. The last time I heard a Kurt tune was a Powerstomp tune, but thankfully he's made the transition to Hardstyle: this tune is fantastic! Never knew he made Hardstyle to begin with. A good set, one you had to experience to fully understand it. And it does have some quirky moments. 'Monkey Dance'? Every Tweekacore record? It is indeed a mashup of everything, Joey's set, but I think you needed to be at Creamfields, KTRA arena, to fully understand the vibe of the night. I wasn't, as you can tell. But I wish I was. It's been too long since I've seen Joey play. I've mentioned this in other reviews, but not a fan of Tweekacore or anything they produce sadly. There's a limit to my admiration of cheesy music, but they just made it sound dreadful. Proper music it's not (well, not in my ears). I'd rather listen to Joey Riot's records, like 'Mystic Revolution', also a belter of a track. A good set. I've woken up and pressed play immediately, and it has made me a happy bunny. Will it make you happy? Oh, and you can download this too, btw! All for free! - DJ Waxweazle - Best Of Waxweazle Volume 1 (2017)
A few days away has done me well. Now back in London, I had to return to blogging. And the first mix I found (and played) was Waxweazle's mix he did nearly two years ago. His 'best of' mix was uploaded onto Mixcloud and got good feedback from the fans. And I think I did a review last year, but I'm not entirely sure. So here it is, the new and probably improved review of Waxweazle's mix. And if you are a fan of his early stuff, his label, and all the artists who released music on his labels, you are in for a good time! DJ Waxweazle has been an established name in the Hardcore scene for God knows how long. He has been there since I started developing a feeling for it. And since that moment Waxweazle has constantly been my source of good Hardcore music. If you are a fan of him, you know he has released a few dancefloor smashers over the years, and his tunes are still played, even in 2019/2020. Waxweazle has been one of the dominators of the scene for many years, and even now he keeps on keeping the weird looking logo and its music alive and kicking. To celebrate decades of awesome music, he made this excellent mix. The tracklist will make you happy and excited. And makes you realise time has flown by too damn quick. So here it is, and be prepared to be happy in a split second! 01. Waxweazle - Take It Slow 02. Promo - (Forever) I Want You (Waxweazle Remix) 03. The Classic Men - We're Gonna Get This Place 04. The Classic Men - Can We Help You 05. The Classic Men - Now It Begins 06. Waxweazle & Guitar Rob - Pump It DJ 07. Somebody From Rotterdam - Let The Bass Flow (95 Remix) 08. Tails & Noizer & Waxweazle - Wake Up Call 09. Waxweazle & Guitar Rob - Spread Your Wings 10. Waxweazle - Throw Your Hands In The Air (Waxweazle Power Mix) 11. Waxweazle - The Sequel 12. Waxweazle - Come With Me (Waxweazle Hard Mix) 13. Waxweazle - It's About Time 14. DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Hands In D'Air 15. Recharge - Feelings 16. DJ Delirium - The Party Starter 17. DJ Delirium feat Guitar Rob - The Rhythm's On Time 18. DJ Delirium & Guitar Rob & DJ Waxweazle - Dreams Of Heaven 19. Recharge - Bumrush 20. Waxweazle - Feel The Rhythm (Chipo Chipolata Mix) 21. Promo - Do You Want The Rawness 22. Promo - Sweet Dreams (Waxweazle Nightmare Mix) 23. Tails & Noizer - Showtime (Waxweazle Power Mix) 24. Promo - Bad Boy Style 25. Waxweazle - La Onda (Blood In Blood Out) 26. Waxweazle - Everything Starts With An E 27. Recharge - Beast Time 28. Waxweazle & Berry - Serious Bastards 29. Recharge - Bring The Rockers (DJ Waxweazle & Berry Remix) 30. Waxweazle - Legs (96 Hardcore Mix) 31. Chico Chipolata - No More Happy Hardcore 32. Waxweazle - Brainscan (In For The Kill Mix) 33. Chico Chipolata - To The House 34. Waxweazle & Promo - Fixxxed 35. Waxweazle - Hardcore Power '97 (Waxweazle feat MC Mouth Of Madness Mix) A definitive mix by one of the leading names in the Hardcore/Gabber scene. It's got shitloads of excellent tunes, some forgotten, and some still at the forefront of the scene. Still being played all over the Hardcore world. It's a wicked mix. It does contain the records you wanted to hear, all in an hour and a half long mix. Mixed by Waxweazle himself. And it's something you were waiting for. Who doesn't want to hear the classic anthems? Name one person who doesn't want to hear them? I never knew Waxweazle made that many records, and I think this is only the top of the iceberg. Obviously the most well known records have been selected, but also a few I've never heard before. Maybe they have appeared on dodgy compilations I never felt the urge to buy. But which is my favourite record in this mix? Well, a few Waxweazle records are my favourites, like 'Dreams Of Heaven', 'Everything Starts With An E', 'Hardcore Power', but I've give 'E-Rick & Tactic the credit for one of the dopest Hardcore anthems of all time: 'Hands In D'air'. Fuck me, whenever I hear this I want to let myself go completely. Underrated? Yes. A wicked mix, but it does have some small errors, But would you be worried about it, when the tracklist is this good? Don't be a dickhead, but appreciate the mix as a whole. And as a whole it's beautiful. Some records are also played very shortly (like 'Hardcore Power'), but that gives you the opportunity to dig through your record collection and find those hidden gems. I'm doing that now, currently playing 'Thunderdome 19', just to hear the full record! Good mix to start your Wednesday with! - Quosh vs E.P - A History Of Forgotten Anthems (Sy & Unknown vs Dougal & Gammer) (2013)
True Hardcore ravers, listen up. I'm not here to start a debate or anything, but we all have to agree that the two biggest labels in our history have got to be Quosh Records and Essential Platinum, right? Sadly these two labels have kind of vanished of the face of this earth, which is a complete pity. But we are left behind with the legacy that these two labels carried with them throughout their years of activity. Someone on Soundcloud called Reggie More Raves (what a name, eh?) made this mix 6 years ago, and as he states it on Soundcloud, this mix is "only for ravers who appreciate Hardcore where it's come from!" Now you know. If you are a raver who does not appreciate Hardcore, you can do one. This mix is a nice hour and a half long, and contains the finest records from both Quosh and EP. Of course you can expect music from Sy & Unknown and Dougal & Gammer. This mix is full of the finest records, some even forgotten. You don't hear them that often anymore. And you know the worst thing? I've forgotten them too! It's only because of me waking up with a Sy & Unknown record in my head, and wanting to hear more. And voila, the mix we are listening to is the result of a wake-up-with-a-song-in-your-head moment. The tracklist is a beautiful thing, here it is: 01. Sy & Unknown - Bring Me Round To Love 02. Dougal & Gammer feat Jenna - Heaven On Earth 03. Sy & Unknown - Do We Have To Say Goodbye 04. Dougal & Gammer feat Jenna - Paradise 05. CLSM - Free Your Mind (Sy & Unknown Remix) 06. Dougal & Gammer feat Jenna - Don't Go Away 07. Expression & Gbh - Night Time (Sy & Unknown Remix) 08. Dougal & Mickey Skeedale - Really Love You (Dougal & Gammer Remix) 09. Picco - It Goes On & On (Sy & Unknown Remix) 10. Dougal & Gammer - Lifting Me Higher (Back To '97 Mix) 11. Dab Hands - Super Good (Sy & Unknown Remix) 12. Dougal & Gammer - Make Some Noise 13. Fergus & Mayhem - Take Control (Sy & Unknown Remix) 14. Dougal & Gammer feat Lisa Abbott - Stop The Clock 15. Sy & Unknown feat Ben Williams - Don't Wanna Let You Down (Joey Riot Remix) 16. Dougal & Gammer - Lose Me Forever 17. Sy & Unknown feat LouLou - Right Here 18. Dougal & Gammer feat Jenna - Don't Say Goodbye 19. Joey Riot & Technotrance - Together Again (Sy & Unknown Remix) 20. Dougal & Gammer - Anybody Else But You 21. Sy & Unknown feat LouLou - The Time Of Our Lives 22. Dougal & Gammer feat Nikki Mac - All My Dreams 23. Sy & Unknown - For An Angel (Rusty Records Cheeky Lover Edit) 24. Dougal & Gammer feat Jerome - There For You 25. Sy & Unknown - Feels So Good 26. Dougal & Gammer feat Lisa Abbott - Right Here By My Side 27. Sy & Unknown - Pictures Of You (Technikore Remix) 28. Dougal, Gammer & JB-C feat Jerome - No Way Back 29. Sy & Unknown feat Kirsten Joy - Bright Like The Sun 30. Dougal & Gammer feat DWB - Shine Your Light Now that's an exciting tracklist, isn't it? Pure and unadulterated Hardcore. And please be advised that I'm talking about UK Hardcore, not European Hardcore. There's a huge difference between both. So if you think Happy is bad, do not listen to this mix. But if you appreciate excellent and well produced music, and also a tad happy, make sure you check our Reggie More Raves' mix. I always had a connection with both duos. There were other duos I appreciated, but none as much as Dougal & Gammer and Sy & Unknown. It might be obvious to me, but for me Sy & Unknown are the kings of UK Hardcore. They were actually the ones that introduced me into the style. I bought a CD back in the early 00s and the first record on there was a Sy & Unknown record. Hence why my connection is there. Dougal & Gammer are ace too, but for personal reason I do like the other a bit more. There are simply too many wicked anthems in this mix, and I have to select one. Fuck that's not easy, but I had to pick two: 'Super Good' by Dab Hands, and 'Feels So Good'. I just cannot decide between both these anthems. Absolute anthems. Disagree if you like, and I'll fight you. How can you not like these two? A cracking mix by Reggie More Raves. An old one but solid one. This will make your Friday go by quickly. - Thunderdome - School-Edition (1997)
God! I completely forgot about these bad boys! This makes me feel old: the Thunderdome School Edition CDs! Who ever owned an agenda, which came with a free CD? Who was a cool student, walking around with this agenda, showing your love and dedication for Thunderdome and Hardcore music? Or who bought this and didn't even go to school? Well, I was that kid (who went to school) and was a proud gabber. Not bald, because I still lived at home and my mum would have beaten the crap out of me, but still die-hard Hardcore fanatic. So proud of this memory though. As expected, magpie303 uploaded the actual CD onto Soundcloud, and the memories came pouring back into me. I decided to check Discogs, because I was wondering how long they actually did this for, and to my amusement, they only released it for 2 years, and they even had a HAPPY HARDCORE agenda + CD! No freaking way, why have I not bought all of these? You had the 'Happy Hardcore' School Edition and 'Happy Dance' School Edition. Well, at least I showed my appreciation for Hardcore in general, eh? The one I still have was the 98-99 edition of the Thunderdome edition. This edition wasn't a mixed CD, and it only contained 4 records, unmixed. Not less exciting though, but not what was released the year before: a 16 minute long megamix! Well, more like 17 minutes long, but containing 16 records, so indeed a megamix. Brutal to the core, and containing extremely tasty records. One commenter on Discogs thinks it was DJ Weirdo who mixed it together, and it does indeed sound like it. Before we delve into the tracklist: can my fellow student from 1997 return this CD to me? I forgot who 'borrowed' it from me, and sadly never returned it to me. I think it's the same student who borrowed Thunderdome 96 and broke it. You know who you are, just return it. Thanks. 01. Mindcrimers - Madman 02. Pulp Shock - Far Away (DJ Sim Hardcore Remix) 03. Wasting Program - Bring That Shit Back (DJ Arduna Remix) 04. DJ Sim - Cartoons In Progress (Original Mix) 05. Tails & Noizer feat MC Drokz - Boom-Shaka-La 06. DJ Delirium & Da Grimreaper - Gangsta Sound 07. DJ Weirdo & DJ Phil Omanski - Young Birds (Original Mix) 08. DJ Delirium - No Turning Back 09. Critical Mass - Believe In The Future (DJ Weirdo & DJ Sim Future Mix) 10. DJ Sim - No More Shit 11. Naughty Boys - 1 2 3 Fuck 12. DJ Buzz Fuzz - Dreamgirl (Just A Dream Remix) 13. DJ Waxweazle - Brainscan (In For The Kill Mix) 14. 50% Of The Dreamteam - Fatal Morgana 15. DJ Weirdo & Mt-Ness - Metrodome (Weirdo Hardcore Mix) 16. Pino D'Ambini - Up & Down Ballz (Buzzy Goes BZRK) This still brings a smile on my face, and at the same time it makes me scared: how the fuck has time flown by so damn quickly? This CD is 22 years old! 22 years. Can you Adam and Eve it? I cannot. I have only turned 36 the other day, and being 14 feels like yesterday (the year I went to Mysteryland on my own, raving amongst 25.000 ravers). Hearing this mix takes me back to school, when I was an idiot, being the clown mostly. And look where I am now? 22 years later, sitting in London, behind my computer, enjoying life, and not missing school one bit. The mix isn't the best I've ever heard. It's alright, but not great. Too rushed. And if you still have the original cover, you can see that they made a few mistakes on the back. But I think that has happened a lot during the 90s. I think it was a running joke, right? Who would be in their right mind to not be able to typ the artist correctly, or even typ the title of the song correctly? A joke, right? The records on their own are amazing. I forgot about a few, like 'Fatal Morgana', 'Metrodome', 'No Turning Back', 'Boom-Shaka-La', and more. But when I heard them in 2019, I was teleported back to 1997. Big anthems, but the biggest one has to be 'Cartoons In Progress'. DJ Sim. Do I need to say more? A wonderful bit of my youth, and this will be an eternal memory. Not the best mix, but it made me who I am, and still has the power to light up the Hardcore spark inside of me. - M@rt!n-J - Energy Field (2019)
I'm not regretting the following statement (and if I did, I would not have started the review with it), but to me Energy Field is the number 1 Freeform label at the moment. Sorry other labels, but it just seems that DJ Cyrax's label releases absolutely gorgeous tracks only. If you are unaware of this label or DJ Cyrax (which we understand though: who wants to know him?), it's time for you to get a good understanding of what this label does, and how GOOD the records are. DJ M@rt!n-J already knew this, hence why he has uploaded this mix 3 days ago, containing records from this mighty label. So, well, I think I have already mentioned everything you need to know about this label. It's DJ Cyrax's label, and on it you will only see/hear the finest Freeform records by the finest producers. Don't believe me? Well, you can check the tracklist out in a second and within a second you will know that this label, even though it's fairly new, does not take prisoners. The mix is about 55 minutes long, and within those 55 minutes I had at least 7 orgasms. Or eargasms as I would like to call them. I'm surrounded by thousand tissues right now. It's not a pleasant sight, but hey, I'm not bothered. Let's dive straight into the tracklist. This will blow your mind, trust me! 01. Transcend & Cyrax - Insight 02. Transcend - Noise & Confusion 03. But now you've seen the tracklist, you do underline the awesomeness of this tracklist, and that this label is so damn good. But if you haven't heard the tracks already, now is the time to skip the rest of this review, go straight to the end, and start listening to the music. I have to say, I'm astonished if anyone is actually reading my nonsensical bollocks. Go listen to the music. Come on. Before we all start listening, shout out to M@rt!n-J for yet another amazing mix. This DJ is on fire yet again. He's an unstoppable force, and will provide us all with lots of amazing mixes, containing records filled with awesome memories. For me this latest Freeform mix contains the most memories: when I first heard these records I fell in love, and immediately asked Cyrax if a compilation was being released. Sadly the answer was no. You can only get this records separately. Not a fan of that, but that's just me (I'm a silly bollocks). But now M@rt!n-J has put them all in one mix, and that has made me an extremely happy person. Can't you see me smiling? I've said it in other mixes containing this record, but Substanced's 'Jade' is the biggest Freeform record of all time. What an absolute beast of a track! From a mid section that has nice guitar bits, to a section that builds up to the best and fastest bit (yep, you can tell I'm not a producer: not using very professional terms), this record feels to me like I've just entered heaven, and it will be a thousand years of raving to this tune. Come to think of it, yeah, why not? Fuck standard. Freeform forever! Another smashing mix. Hopefully this mix will give Energy Field the recognition it deserves. And also give Freeform the stage it deserves. And last but not least: give M@rt!n-J all the credits for this and all the other mixes he has made! Another epic mix. - Pearsall - Get It 010: Get Everything (2019)
Yesterday was my birthday, and I still continued reviewing. It's a non-stop business. Not highly appreciated though, but it's a hobby, and I keep it alive as long as I can, or simply can be arsed. Some days you find NOTHING online: all the mixes are boring and not exciting, and this results in you going back into your music history, and check awesome mixes/CD, and some days the whole day you are flooded with excellent music. Like a few days ago: Pearsall notified me that there's a new mix, made by him, on Soundcloud. But I'd already spotted his mix. I'm quick, when it comes to things like that. And I have to be honest to Pearsall: I cannot remember if I'd ever seen the previous instalments of this mix series before. Or maybe I have, but due to the alcohol abuse during the 90s my braincells are slowly dying, I simply cannot remember at 36 years old. Anyway, this tenth instalment is an achievement mix. He's recently reached 250.000 plays on Soundcloud, which is simply an astonishing achievement for Pearsall, but to be fair, he deserves all the credit. For what he's doing to the music scene, he and his page deserves more credit. So fuck it, I'm promoting another website now, but click here to visit Pearsall's successful blog! One day I'll be as successful as his page. I'm hoping. But for now that's wishful thinking. Let's focus on my fellow blogger's mix. And it's a good 'un. Containing records from 10 genres (and I'm not kidding)! How cool is that? You don't see mixes like that very often. And it does work. It simply does. The mix is 90 minutes long, and vinyl only. It's a mix you want to see, and hear! 01. Head High - Set Me Free 02. DJ Different - Fast Forward To The Outer Rim 03. Special Request - Lockjaw 04. Manor House Boyz - Full Resonance 05. Dawl - Bad Trip 06. Posthuman - King Rat 07. Zero B - Lock Up (Jerome Hill Remix) 08. Chrissy - Hold On Tight 09. Skin On Skin - Multiply 10. Boylan - Shimmy 11. Syer Barz - Mushrooms 12. East Man - Twilight 13. TMSV - Modification 14. D Bridge - Digital Dread 15. Om Unit - Preshah 16. Solid Blake - Warp Room 17. Nite Fleit - Borderline 18. Ersatz Olfolks - Stella 19. R.O.P. - Stop The Music 20. Innercore - Feel So 21. Pete Cannon - Dynamite 22. Puffin' Billy - Mickey 303 23. Tim Reaper - Dead & Buried 24. Tim Reaper - Globex Corp Vol 5 (Side B2) 25. DJ Dlux - Interference 26. Dilinja - Luscious Nights 27. Tom & Jerry - Maximum Style (DJ Stretch Dubplate Remix) 28. Abyss - Bad Boy 29. Skitty - Bad It Up 30. Champa B - Dread Conquer What an immense mix! You literally get everything: from Jungle to Techno, to Dubstep, to (name a scene and he's played it). And the end result is an hour and a half of absolute blissful music. Pearsall has never disappointed me, so his latest mix gets a thumb up. Ok, make that two thumbs up. This Berlin based DJ has given the world a lot of excellent mixes, and he has always made them as good as possible, setting the benchmark high for himself and others. Pearsall is a dedicated music lover, and the way he portraits his love for the music is just adorable. You can tell he lives for the music. The connection between all these styles has got to be the breaks, right? He has made this mix sound effortless, and I'm guessing that it has been the oppossite, right? Most bedroom DJs cannot even mix two records together, and he just fucking did 10 genres in 90 minutes! Fuck, that's impressive. I've got only love and admiration for this mix. No negative bits and bobs, only credit. Pearsall, you fucking monster, you've created yet another epic mix. Thumbs up from TCD. Epic, epic, epic. Just what I needed to hear after a hard day of work. Now I need to wind down, and relax. Perfect mix for a breezy Sunday morning. Worth checking out! - Dutch Breakbeat Gabber Mix (2015)
Don't ask me, yeah, but I never knew Dutch Breakbeat Gabber was an actual thing! I categorised all Hardcore/Gabber as one style, never make a distinction between the styles. Was it happy, it belonged to the Happy Hardcore side. Did it sound like it came from Rotterdam or The Hague? Gabber it is. Hardcore for everything else. Well, I've just polarized the whole scene, but that's just my perspective. I never knew that these tunes you are about to listen to, fell under this category. But it's awesome though, I've learned that Breakbeat Gabber was my favourite kind of Hardcore! So I found this mix only a few days ago, and I immediately fell in love with it! I don't need to reiterate that I was unaware of the styles' name, but for whatever reason it might have been, I have always loved these tunes. Only a handful of tunes selected by DeeGun were unknown to me, but all the others were (and still are) my favourite anthems. Yes, maybe a tad cheesy/happy, but who cares? A true Hardcore minded freak like me would acknowledge these tunes, and see them for what they really are: underrated classics. DeeGun's selection is truly mindblowingly beautiful! This is what I'm looking for in a Hardcore/Happy Hardcore mix! This is my child hood in a 51 minute mix. Yeah yeah, many other tunes dominated my youth, but these were so good, I've played these over and over. And if you were around the time these were successful, you will look at this tracklist, and your heart might skip a beat. Do you require an ambulance? 01. Lockjaw - Ruff 'N Ruggin' 02. El Bruto - Hypnotizing 03. Brothers In Crime - Let Me Suck Your 04. Brothers In Crime - 100% Crisis 05. The Scotchman - Happy Vibes 06. Obliterator - Ruff To The Max 07. DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Hands In D'Air 08. DJ Mongoose - Rip Shit Up (DJ Isaac Remix) 09. Discofrisco & DJ Inferno - Give All Your Love 10. The Beatsquad - Had A Dream 11. The Beatsquad - The Beat Goes On 12. Da Beatblower - Go Fuck Your S Off 13. DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Hysterical Drumbeats 14. The Beatsquad - Uptempo Beatz 15. Twin Terror - I Feel Alive (Terror Mix) 16. DJ Gizmo & Lars - Baby I Know 17. Hardcore Till I Puke - D.U.I. Of E 18. Enfusia - Hit 'em With This 19. DJ Weirdo & Dr. Phil Omanski - Young Birds 20. DJ Weirdo & Sim - Go Get Busy 21. Without A Doubt - Don't Speak 22. 3 Steps Ahead - Drop It Well, I never knew! Fuck me sideways! I just, literally just visited Discogs, looked on The Beatsquad's page, and it told me that behind that project were E-Rick & Tactic! My God! The things you learn, it's just astonishing! Now I understand why both groups always appealed to me: they were bloody well the same! I wonder what happened to them. I do wonder sometimes what has happened to those oldschool legends. Brothers In Crime, Weirdo & Sim, El Bruto, Twin Terror, Discofrisco, Mongoose, Lockjaw, etc. They were part of my childhood, and now they are gone. Not that I want to know all the gossips though, but I simply wondered. One day they are there, and the next they are gone. Anyway, let's talk about the mix. DeeGun's mix. Never heard of this DJ before, or have seen anything by him/her before. But this mix is extremely interesting, and tasty. For this true Hardcore fanatic it's just an eargasm, 51 minutes long. Yes, there are a few shite records but you can't have it all, eh? But what about those fucking classic anthems like 'Hands In D'Air', 'Young Birds', 'Happy Vibes', 'Uptempo Beatz', etc? There are simply too many AWESOME records: if I had to pick one, it would be difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. Favourite record: I had to choose between 'Uptempo Beatz', 'Hands In D'Air', 'Hysterical Drumbeats', 'Give All Your Love' and 'The Beat Goes On', and I picked the last on my list. The Beatsquad. I don't know if they still exist (probably not), but if they do, please let me know where they perform. I always appreciated their music, and still in 2019 go ape when I hear the tunes they made. Does anyone actually know if they made an artist album? Or shall I visit my Discogs friends and see if they've got the answer? Ah well. DeeGun's mix is truly interesting. EXCELLENT record selection. You don't see these in such a tracklist that often, all together. All those beautiful anthems together. The mixing could be slightly better and the bass control sometimes nearly blew my speakers into a million speakers, but the general gist of this mix has been received and understood. Hardcore will never die. And Dutch Breakbeat Gabber just rocks! More of this style! MORE! - M-Project - HDM Mixtape 2019
I have not heard a mix by M-Project in a long while. Maybe the algorithm on Soundcloud has changed, and does not show me anything M-Project related, which is a pity: still follow this legendary producer. Mainly know as a J-Core and Powerstomp producer/DJ, but he has slowly changed his direction, his musical preference, and he's literally making everything now. Didn't he have a big release on a big label a couple of months ago? Rave Muzik? M-Project is big, and I'm not talking about his size. More like his posture, and his musical reach. In his latest mix you do hear a bit of Powerstomp influence, but this HDM mix also shows what he's capable of. Not bound to just one style or genre, M-Project can do it all. And he's making EDM more interesting, turning it into HDM. Now, I've got to say that I'm not a fan of EDM in general, and those records selected by M-Project would normally be avoided by myself, but something deep down inside of me is asking if I can give this a go. Listen to M-Project's flipped records (well, the majority are). Let me show you the tracklist and you will know immediately what I'm on about. 01. Vau Boy & M-Project - Pretend 02. Salvatore Ganacci - Horse (M-Project Flip) 03. KO3 & DJ DiA - Rainbow (M-Project Flip) 04. Joyryde - The Box (M-Project Flip) 05. Pegboard Nerds - Gunslinga (M-Project Flip) 06. RIOT - Jungle Fury (M-Project Flip) 07. M-Project & Signal - Cyber Bass Rave 08. RIOT - Overkill (M-Project Flip) 09. Metal One - Melodies Of Passion II (M-Project HDM Remix) 10. MOB - Midnight Daydream (M-Project Flip) 11. Pegboard Nerds & LugOOber - Bring Me Joy (M-Project Flip) 12. YUC'e - Future Candy (M-Project Remix) 13. Porter Robinson - Language (M-Project Flip) I'm guessing that M-Project loves to make omelettes, seeing as he's the flipping master. Flippin' heck, the amount of 'flips' in this mix is astonishing. I think 85% of the records used are flipped. Flipped by the mighty M-Project. Anyway, can I ask, before we talk about the music, what happened between 'Cyber Bass Rave'? Is it just me, or has the bass completely gone? Or is it a joke? Because I tried to reset the speaker and the prior and post record to this one both have clear bass. Can anyone advice me on this, what have I done? Are my speakers knackered? Time to upgrade? It's my birthday soon, so hurry up, I might be able to get this on my girlfriend 'to get' list. Back to the music. There are a few absolute beasts in here. Also a few absolute kak records, but due to his flipping skills made slightly better, like 'Horse' by Salvatore Ganacci. I have actually thrown up when I saw his performances at Tomorrowland. The world's biggest joke, right? And he gets paid to be a clown? Should be in the circus, not at events where people pay good money to go ape themselves. Ah well. I mentioned before that M-Project had a few records in here, which are beasts. There are three I really like: 'Melodies Of Passion II', 'Language', but the credit, all the credit, goes to 'Midnight Daydream'. Loving the flip, love the original, love the vocals. Love everything about this record. Another wicked mix by Japanese's finest producer. A few extremely cool records, a lot of flips, and in general happy vibes. What more could you ask for? - Class Of '98 (2019)
I've been trying to typ this review for the last 12 hours, but it's just too damn hot. And I'm not talking about the mix (well, I am, but the weather is a pain in the ass). To cool my ass down, I had to go out and buy a small aircon unit. And it has done the trick: sitting here in London, listening to music from the magical year of 1998, and enjoying life. Would have been better if it was actually the year 1998, so we wouldn't have to worry about the internet, social media, etc, and just appreciate life, and especially the music. I'm always late to the party: this mix was released 7 months ago, and I've discovered it only a few days ago. Shame on me. I am a huge fan of 'History Of Happy Hardcore's page, and I've spotted many other mixes, but not this one. Anyway, let's focus on the music. Image the year being 1998. That's 21 years ago! Can you believe it? Aqua released 'Doctor Jones', Run-D.M.C. made us all want to dance on their 'It's Like That', people watched 'Sex In The City', Britney Spears came into our lives, cargo pants became a hit, and Happy Hardcore was still huge in the UK. Dying in the rest of Europe, but the British still kept it alive and kicking. You will know each and every tune, and then it hits you: these are 21 years old! We are living in 2019. Where the fuck has the time gone to? Anyway, time for music, so here's the tracklist: 01. Quest - Images Of You 02. Breeze - Let's Fly (Unique's Classic Mix) 03. Sub-Ace & Aura - My Dreams 04. Force & Styles - Follow Me 05. Jon Doe feat Lisa Abbott - Timebomb 06. DJ Force & The Evolution - Twelve Midnight (Bang! Remix) 07. 2 Without Heads - U & Me 'Hardcore Forever' (Scott Brown Mix) 08. DJ Storm - The Beating Of My Heart 09. DJ Fade - Freedom (Franctic Remix) 10. DJ Storm - Get Busier 11. Sy & Seduction - On The Road 12. DJ Demo - Muzik (DJ Ham Remix) 13. Bang! - Sailaway (Mellow Mix) 14. Sy & Demo - Devotion (Sy & Demo Remix) 15. Blitz & Blaze - Big Up The Bass 16. Identical - The Banger 17. Stompy & G-Netic - Starlight 18. Voodoo Posse feat Jocelyn Brown - Love Is (Fade & Bananaman Anthem Mix) 19. V.G.T. - #1A 20. Vinylgroover - Fairytales & Angels 21. Brisk & Trixxy - Goodbye Summertime 22. Monty & D'Skys - U Had It All Wow. This is pure Happy Hardcore. If this doesn't make you happy, nothing will. If you are having a bad day, and nothing can lift you up, don't you worry my son: History Of Happy Hardcore to the rescue! And their 7 month old mix! Let this assist you through the despair. It does work, trust me. The heat has not been kind to me, and when I listened to this bad boy, I became happy in an instant! I do love the happiness surrounding this mix. It's happy, and euphoric, and extremely uplifting. The UK were known for their Happy Hardcore music, and are still one of the countries trying to keep it alive. It was obviously massive in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe, but the UK took it upon themselves to adjust the sound slightly. And the result? Well, you are listening to it. Not a fan of the remixed versios of already classic anthems, like 'Love Is', and 'Fairytales & Angels'. I do prefer the original versions, and when I hear those distinctive sounds, I do immediately hear the original. Not a bad shout, but not a good one either. But which one is the best? Well, simple answer: Bang!'s big hit 'Sailaway'. This all time classic has been played at ravers for the last 21 years, and is still going strong. Happy to the bone, and the oh so familiar chords, you just cannot sit still when they come at you. All in all, this mix shows us all how diverse and good 1998 was. 21 years ago, I still can't believe it. Press play and absorb the music. Also, be quick: the Summer of 2019 might be ending next week, so enjoy the garden time, BBQ on and 'Class Of '98' on max! - DJ Buzz Fuzz - Heroes Of Hardcore (1996)
I was so gutted when I realised that I missed out on buying this album, seeing as I did buy all the other Heroes Of Hardcore CDs. This successful series proved to be not long lived sadly, but has left an impact. Much loved by the raving community, and still to this day going strong. Maybe even as good as Thunderdome? To me this mix series is certainly as good as, or maybe even better? Just to name a few DJs who worked on this project (and it will blow your mind away): Omar Santana, Rob Gee, Delirium, Buzz Fuzz, Lady Dana, Weirdo, Rob, Paul, Waxweazle, The Darkraver, Gizmo, Isaac, Marc Arcadipane, Promo, The Stunned Guys, The Masochist, Miro, Neophyte. How about that, eh? And Buzz Fuzz's CD was the only one I did not purchase. Shame on me. I was a huge fan of Buzz Fuzz in the 90s and early 00s (and secretly still am). I do have a few other CDs of him, and cannot begin to grasp the notion of me not buying this. And after 23 years it's probably too damn late: you won't find this jewel in a CD store anymore. So I have to resolve my sadness, and turn to Soundcloud. Someone uploaded this mix, and immediately I was back in 1996. Buzz Fuzz's mix contains records so hot, they will leave burn marks all over your body. The records on this CD are so damn hot. This was my kind of Hardcore, this is the Hardcore that made me rave even harder, and doing the dance even faster and stomped the fuck out of everything (for those unaware of the name of the dance, it's Hakkûh). This is a beautiful mix, and probably the best of the Heroes Of Hardcore series. Let me show you what Buzz Fuzz mixed together back in 1996. Don't forget, that was 23 years ago, way before the existence of CDJs. All vinyl, baby. 01. Intro - Behold... Here Comes The Dreamer 02. Buzz Fuzz - Frequencies (Pino D'Ambini's Tough Mix) 03. DJ Buzz Fuzz & DJ Delirium - Immortality 04. DJ Sim - Cartoons In Progress (Original Mix) 05. Omar Santana - How Shall I Rock Thee 06. Lenny Dee - The Dreamer 07. Kool Killers - Amerikaaaaah! 08. Square Dimensione - Brand New Dance (Buzz Fuzz '95 Remix) 09. The Prophet & DJ Delirium - We Love To Party 10. The Lawyer - Yo DJ (Original Mix) 11. Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ (Original Mix) 12. Masoko Solo - Pessa Pessa (Prophet's Mix) 13. Bertocucci Feranzano & Tony Salmonelli - Daddy Snow (Buzzy's Raggamix) 14. Wedlock - Children Of Artcore 15. Neophyte - Execute 16. DJ Dano - Starting Up 17. DJ Dave & The Chicago Hardcore Party Force - Listen.... 18. Nasty Django - Hardcore Muthafucka 19. DJ Gizmo - Dopeman (Buzzy's Aaaaarrggghh!!! Remix) 20. Outro Now that's a tracklist that takes me back to 1996. And you know that Buzz Fuzz is the kind of man to destroy eardrums. My God, this mix is tight as hell. As tight as can be! And the records? They are mind blowingly good. Can't believe they are more than 23 years old, they sound as fresh as if they were released yesterday. Buzz Fuzz a.k.a Mark Vos, if you are reading this, I do apologise. I should have bought it. You are my childhood hero. And I think I have seen you at Mysteryland 1998, but I'm not sure (was intoxicated throughout the 90s). Your music has resonated with the scene, and even in 2019 the ravers do appreciate your music. I should have, but nothing is too late. I'm going to look online to see if we can find a copy of the original CD. So I can have a full collection. But is this the best of the whole series? Well, it shares the top spot alongside Miro, The Masochist, and Rob Gee's mix. Best record? Simple. 'Frequencies'. Never knew that was from the Thunderbirds btw! You learn stuff every day! Big mix CD. Cannot beat the old classics! - Happy Hardcore (2018)
Oh guys, this title is misleading. I know this has been a debate within the Hardcore scene, what to call the style, but I think it is still called UK Hardcore, and will be called this till the end of days. But it can be misleading: I was looking for some Dutch Happy Hardcore from around 1995-1996, and came across this mix. At first I was slightly disappointed, but quickly turned around. I saw the tracklist, and it make me extremely happy. You all know how much I love UK Hardcore, and this mix is jam packed with goodies from the scene. You will see what I mean in a minute. DJ DDDM has uploaded this mix about a year ago, and it contains the finest UK Hardcore anthems you can find. Ranging from the standard UK Hardcore sounds to Powerstomp (what has happened to that?), from the biggest names to the upcoming names in the scene. You will find them all in here. So if you are experiencing a boring and shite Sunday morning, you might want to give this a chance. Unless you think UK Hardcore is shite, in case I would suggest you go somewhere else right now. 01. Audiotricz - United As One (Zero Hero Remix) 02. Darren Styles & Callum Higby - TMA 03. Da Tweekaz & Darren Styles - Heroes (170 Mix) 04. Darren Styles - Satellite 05. Dougal feat Soffie Davies - Senses 06. Stonebank - Stronger 07. Dougal & Gammer feat Hannah Faulkner - Knight In Shining Armour (2015 Update) 08. D-Code & Emma - My Direction (Squad-E Remix) 09. Mark Breeze feat Heidi Anne - 15 Seconds 10. Skrillex & Nero - Promises (Gammer Edit) 11. Kayzo - This Time (Gommi x Tyeguys Remix) 12. Darren Styles & Re-Con - Quiver 13. Scott Brown - Now Is The Time (DJ Kurt Remix) 14. No Sweat vs Joey Riot - Find The Feeling 15. Darren Styles - Screwface 16. Dowster & Vagabond - My Little Fantasy (Eufeion 2017 Remix) 17. Scott Brown - Taking Drugs 18. Scott Brown - Neckbreaker (Dougal & Gammer Remix) 19. Brisk & Trixxy - Eye Opener (Dolphin Hardcore Bootleg) 20. Dab Hands - Super Good (Sy & Unknown Remix) 21. Apollo - Dance (Re-Con Remix) 22. Flyin & Sparky feat Charm - Down To You (Joey Riot Powerstomp Remix) It's Sunday morning, the weather is ok for now (will turn absolutely hot today), and I'm doing a thousand things at the same time. You want some good anthems to get you through the day. This mix could be interesting to those UK Hardcore lovers who are looking for a 'classic' mix. You get the 'newer' classic and the old classic, and I know a lot of you out there love the older stuff more than the newer stuff. I'm one of those. Who doesn't love 'Dance' by Apollo, remixed by Re-Con, 'Super Good' by Dab Hands, remixed by Sy & Unknown, etc? It was difficult and not an easy task to select the best record, but after considering which anthems DDDM has selected, I have to select 'Taking Drugs' by Scott Brown. Probably his best record ever! There are some small mixing errors, cross fading issues. But don't let that be an issue for you (unless you are as picky as I am). All in all a good and entertaining mix. This will certainly get me through the day. - ATTLAS - Storyline 3 (2019)
Yes, yes, YES! ATTLAS' Storyline mix series is back! About a month ago, the third instalment was released. And you all know how much I love these mixes. Well, I do love everything that ATTLAS releases. Have you checked his Soundcloud page, have you experienced his musical genius mindset? He seemed to have captured this unique and different way of making music more appealing, by not only using the finest music, but also the greatest movie quotes. And boy, do they blend together! ATTLAS has this gift, and it attracks many fans from all over the world. If you go to this mix and look at the comment section, everyone reacts the same. Everyone is happy, and some even shed tears whilst listening to this. I'm close, to shed a tear, but what this mix has done to me is make me feel special yet very emotional at the same time. This mix is powerful, and so are the other mixes, which I recommend you check out too. But for now, we are focussing on the third instalment, and how great it is. His creative mindset has created this one of a kind mix series. Electronic music with music quotes, who does that? It has been a thing where it was incooperated into records, but ATTLAS does it inbeteween records, blending records with those quotes like it's no big deal. It's story telling in such a fantastic way. But what makes me feel so emotional about these mixes is the fact that the ones he has selected, are breath takingly beautiful, and calm. No screaming or shouting movie bits, but always very calm sections. All aligned with the calm and well composed EDM records. The tracklist can be found on 1001tracklists.com, but it's not complete. And I've left out the movie quotes, seeing as I'm always focussed on the music. If you want, just click here and it will take you to the specific page, on which you can find the quotes and records. Oh, and if you know the ID-less records, could you let me know, so I can update the tracklist? Much appreciated. 01. Nils Frahm - Ode 02. Ben Böhmer feat Margret - Dive 03. Ryan Davis - Obsidian 04. Electronic Dance Music with deep feelings and meaning, that's what I would hear forever and ever. I am normally focussed on the harder styles, but would prefer to hear this. I've saved ATTLAS' previous mixes as a playlist on Soundcloud, and I've played them over and over. I don't know how he does it. How does he create this mixes? He does take his time: there's always a huge gap between the Storyline mixes, and you can tell that each and every mix isn't a rushed job. A well composed and well thought of. You can hear and feel his well preserved way of mixing. And it doesn't matter what time of the days you listen to this: it will always feel good and well placed. Man, this is beautiful. Nothing I have been listening to lately can come close to the power of this mix. This is next level shit. This is truly beyond normal human's perception. Music should make you feel more empatic, but this does so much more. ATTLAS has got a God given talent. To me, he blongs to the best of the best, ever. Just listen to this really awesome mix. - TCD Top 5 21-08-2019
We are back! Yes, we are! It's been a while, and no-one reads this anyway, but if you are, I am truly grateful that you are still interested in my personal f**ked up Top 5. It's not an official list, it's not like anything else you will find on the world wide web: this is my personal list. This list contains records I'm loving at the moment. And this week I'm going all out: Youtube AND Soundcloud links! How about that, eh? That's something else! I do find these all round the web. And seeing as I was a huge CD collector back in the late 90s and early 00s, I do reminisce. Sometimes a song just hits me, even though I'm not hearing it. I do have this craving, this urge, to hear a record. And it started with a record by Kesj & Donut. This lead up to me thinking about the hugely shite collection that was released by Mecado, the worst of the worst label ever. Scum of the Earth. Lowlife people, only focussed on making money, and in doing so, slowly destroying Hardcore. Some compilations were successful, but again, it's not the record company I supported, I supported the music. One record immediately sprung to mind: 2 Rough - I'm A Ruffneck. That's on the list. It was on one of those top 100 shit CDs. And one song lead up to the next. So this list is focussed on my youth: when I rocked the streets with my walkman CD player with unskippable protection (unskippable? my arse). I was the coolest. And this list will hopefully make you smile and take you back to when you were young. Bring back the good ol' Hardcore sound. Why has it disappeared? Fuck. 1. Flamman & Abraxas - Keep Looking, You'll Find Me (1997) 2. 2 Rough - I'm A Ruffneck (1997) 3. DJ XD - Harder Than Hell (1996) 4. Evil Force - On And On (Original Mix) (1996) 5. Cixx vs The Vinyl Junkie - My Style (Freestyle Mix) (1998) ENJOY!!!!!!
- Bad Corey - Super Valentine's Megamix (14-02-2015)
I know. You don't need to remind me. You might be thinking that the morphine and co-codamol and antibiotics have messed up my head, and that my timeline has shifted, but I am fully aware that it's not Valentine's day, or that we are anywhere near. It's August. But what you don't understand is that every day is Valentine's day in the van Zeelandt residency. She knows it, and I know it too. We are smitten, and it might seem a bit too much, but it's the truth. Every day I wake up, I look into her beautiful eyes and know that I'm a lucky lad. And even when I was hospitalized, she was there, next to me. That's dedication. And for 10 years she's been by my side. Love is present here every day. That's why I found this mix, and have embraced it. All bullshit aside, I did find this mix by accident. I had a few records in mind I wanted to hear on Soundcloud, but they were only found in one mix, not separately. Hence why this mix came up. I'm just such a soppy person: I like my UK Hardcore to be a) happy and b) emotional. This led me to this mix, made by Bad Corey. This name seems to ring a bell, but no wedding bells to be fair. And anyway, let's focus on this mix. Bad Corey has selected only the most romantic UK Hardcore records to compose this mix. And oncee you see the tracklist you know it made sense to release this on Valentine's day back in 2015, and why the main focus is love. You know that UK Hardcore, as 'violent' as it sometimes might be, can be extremely beautiful. That's what got me hooked back in the early 00s: this happy and lovely vocals just grabbed my attention. Now it's time for the tracklist. Just make sure you get the tissues ready, and light a candly in your bedroom (or living room), and put this mix on. You will immediately lighten the room. And maybe be lucky with the other half, eh? 01. Northern Lights - Love Of My Life (Brisk 2013 Remix) 02. Brisk & Darwin feat DMO - My Heartbeat (Original Mix) 03. Eclipse feat Lisa Marie - Heart's Desire (Brisk & Vagabond Mix) 04. Cat Like Thief - It Starts With A Whisper (Nu Foundation Remix) 05. Michael Mansion - Under My Window (Fracus & Darwin 2012 Remix) 06. Orbit1 & Fracus feat Lisa Abbott - In Your Arms (Original Mix) 07. Brisk & Darwin - Never Been Away (Original Mix) 08. Nu Foundation - I Need You (Original Mix) 09. Ham - Love You Tonight (Original Mix) 10. Sash Dee feat Ellie - Always & Forever (DJ Shimamura Remix) 11. LeLe - Mirror Mirror (Noc. V Remix) 12. N-Force vs Darren Styles - Right By Your Side (Gammer Remix) 30. Al Storm feat Malaya - Everytime We Say Goodbye (Technikore Remix) 31. Hypasonic - Lost Without You (Squad-E Remix) 32. Styles & Breeze - Come With Me (Unique Remix) 33. Impact & Nemesis - Blown Away (Original Mix) 34. Lumin8 - Pretty Eyes (Original Mix) 35. CLSM - I Will Wait (Fracus & Darwin Remix) 36. Darren Styles feat Molly - Never Forget You (Extended Mix) 37. Darren Styles & Gammer - You & I (Rhythmics Riff Edit) 38. Clear Vu - I Adore (Gammer Remix) 39. Impact & Resist - Someday (Fallon Remix) 40. Minamotoya - Into The Night (Kors K 2012 Remix) 41. Antix, Suae & Pulsar feat Renee - Hypnotized (Original Mix) 42. N-Force - The One (Radio Edit) Jeez! This mix has got so many romatic records in it, and I've got to say that it filled my heart with euphoria! And also with a lot of sadness: this sound is slowly disappearing from the UK Hardcore scene. Even though forward motion is always good, and evolution is necessary, sometimes I would like the music to remain the way it was. And that's not what is happening. Just one sidenote: you have probably noticed a lot of Fracus & Darwin records in here. I was typing this tracklist, and noticed that everything romantic gets the F&D treatment. They must be hunting down romantic records, and calling each other, saying: "you Fracus, there's a new record we can remix, shall we?". So many beautiful records, so much happiness from the HU boys. Is that the secret behind their label? Love? Anyway, this mix could have been 5 hours long. I've just realised that there are thousands of songs, all emotional and romantic! The UK Hardcore scene was thriving on this sound. Not like the Hardcore scene in Europe. So brutal and rough they might like it in Europe, so beautiful and delicate you British like to hear it. Happy and touching. I like that. There are too many great anthems in here. You can literally name each record as your favourite, and for me Clear Vu records have always been amazing, but the one that stood out from the rest, and that's simply because of the lyrics/vocalist, is 'I'm So Happy' by Ryu, remixed by Kors K. Fight me if you disagree. I won't feel a thing, still high on medication. And love. (*insert love emoji) I'm really delighted to have found this lovely mix. Maybe 4 years too late, and many months after Valentine's day, but still. This has turned a bleak day into a wonderful, rainbow filled day. Thanks Bad Corey. Really loved it! - Technikore - HTID In The Sun 2010 Promo Mix
I've been hospitalized the last couple of days, so I do apologise for not being able to keep the website up to date. A lot of things have happened, which took my time, and sadly TCD wasn't my priority. But now I'm home and feeling a bit better, I'm back at it again. And the mix you are about to check it is one you have not heard in a while. Or not heard at all. But it's one of those hidden gems: you can only find it if you look hard enough. And I did my best, and found it, somewhere hidden on the internet. I was listening to a mix on Monday, which contained a Technikore record. And instantly I remembered a mix he did many years ago (9 years ago to be precise), but I could not find it on Soundcloud. Not on Technikore/Technikal's page. Disappointed as I was, I wanted to hear this mix again, but forgot the name. I knew it was on Technikal's official website, but typing those words into Google led me nowhere. After about 30 minutes I came across the original name of the mix, and I've actually found the website, on which it was uploaded 9 years ago, and funnily enough, you can still find it there, and it's still downloadable! This website has not changed in the last 9 years, and nothing else is found on this page. Only this mix and the tracklist. Oh, and maybe a e-mail address, if you are interested in booking Technikal (if that e-mail address is still valid, I do not know). This mix has been downloaded by yours truly a billion times, and I do not know how many versions I've got stored of this mix in my UK Hardcore folder. Every so often I crave this mix, and especially Technikore's early work (just look at his youthful face! doesn't he look young?). You will feel old when you see the tracklist, and realise that these tunes are a decade old! Time has flown by so quickly! Check this out: 01. Technikore - Run Away 02. Technikore feat Lucy Palmer - Heartbreaker 03. Technikore & Zander - My Territory 04. Technikore & MC Static - Like The Sun 05. Technikore - Kiss The Sound 06. Hixxy & Technikore - Re-loaded 07. UFO & Scandal - Crazier (Technikore Remix) 17. Technikore - Extraordinary 18. Technikore - Revolution If you visit Technikore's old website, you are able to download this, and it will come in a nice zipped folder. You will get the mix and the tracklist too (don't see that happening anymore in 2019). I still can't believe that this website has not changed a single thing in 9 years. Has anyone actually visited this site during the last 9 years, or has it been forgotten? You could tell that Technikore was going to do great things, even back in 2010. Now he's an established name in the scene, but even when he emerged (and looked a bit like an emo-nerd) he captured everyone's attention, with records like the ones you will find in this mix. He has the producing bug, and this sound is oh so Technikore-ish. You can recognise his style. He has left a mark on the scene, and he keeps on pushing UK Hardcore forward. I do like that. I went on the hunt for this mix for a specific reason, and even in 2019 I'm not disappointed. No one will be, seeing as Technikore was a wicked producer in 2010. He still is, don't get me wrong. But in 2010 he blew us all away with his style. I do love this mix a lot, but I've not come across a shite Technikore mix at all to be fair. He never makes a raver's heart cry. He always puts smiles on many people's faces. He makes us happy. Thank you Technikore, thank you. A wicked mix. I've really enjoyed it. And so should you. Go and check out his 2010 website lol. A blast from the past. This is how we made websites a decade ago. - DJ Casketkrusher - The Test Crash Records Megamix (100% Vinyl) (2018)
Well, I'll be damned. Never knew that this label was run by The Prophet back in the 90s. Never even knew it existed. I do know each and every record, but that's all. It turns out this was a label back in the 90s, run by DJ The Prophet, and only existed between 1995 and 1997. It is now a defunct label, which is a shame. And it makes me wonder why he stopped running this label? He had so many great anthems on this label, which you will see in a minute, in a beautifully shapen tracklist. Just capture the late 90s. Me and my Sony Walkman, dancing in my bedroom. These tunes would be the ones I'd adore, and would listen to multiple times a day. I was a Happy Hardcore/Hardcore fanatic, and really liked The Prophet's kind of music. It was just what I needed. Obviously I'm not the only fan of his music, and as usual, DJ Casketkrusher made yet another brilliant dedication mix. This time it's filled with records released on this bonkers label. Within those 2 years so many great anthems were released, and it stopped all of a sudden. Now I'm not into politics or gossips, but I am a tad curious: if anyone knows why this label stopped back in 1997, could you leave a comment down below? I simply cannot understand why this label stopped, when it has got banging tunes under its belt. Ah hell, let's focus on the music, that's more interesting, isn't it? Here's the tracklist. Be prepared for a lot of smiles for miles. 01. Commotion - Tutti Frutti 02. The Prophet & DJ Delirium - Keep Your Body Pumpin' 03. Commotion - The Party = Mine 04. The Prophet - Housetime! 05. Creasemaster & Slamdog - Face Down 06. Creasemaster & Slamdog - Don't Stop 07. The Prophet - I Like It Loud (DJ Mix) 08. Creasemaster & Slamdog - Big Ol' Booty 09. The Controllers - I Wanna Rock You 10. Jee Beat Squad - Diss You 11. The Controllers - Testcrashin' (12" Mix) 12. Too Small - Cold Bustin 13. The Prophet & DJ Delirium - We Love To Party 14. The Prophet - Lunatic 15. Jee Beat Squad - Get New 16. The Prophet - Damn! 17. Too Small - U Gotta Give It Babe (Jawshabby Mix) 18. The Prophet - I Like It Loud (Original Mix) 1997! I'm back in 1997. Wow, I just had a flashback to the late 90s! This were the best years for Hardcore music, without a shadow of a doubt! Of course a few years later it nearly vanished due to knobheads destroying it (thanks Gabber Piet, Hakkuhbar, Reef Teef, etc), but just before this climatic ending, the music became so powerful, it has stood the test of time. That it sounds absolutely nothing like the present day Hardcore, that's understandable, but kind of sad too. Hardcore from the 90s should be preserved much better, and its memory should be kept alive, even in 2019. This label had so much potential, and yet it disappeared. A shame, but at least its legacy lives on. Thanks to Casketkrusher for mixing these 18 wicked anthems together. This is truly a trip down memory lane. This label was so good: I didn't even know it existed, yet I know each and every track. And I love them all! Thanks to Discogs I do find out who's behind certain names, such as Too Small, Jee Beat Squad, The Controllers, etc. And it's amazing that we have these kinds of tools, back in the 90s we had none. Well, we had booklets, but they were as confusing as hell! It was hard to select one favourite record: there are 18 amazing records. But when I think of this song, I think of 'Thunderdome 12', the one with the spider on the front. 'Testcrashin' ' This whole CD was epic, and is still the best one of the whole Thunderdome saga. Nonetheless, let's focus on the record: this is dark and edgy, and yet it has a slight Happy Hardcore vibe around it. That's why I love this so much. So many great anthems in here. Unbelievable mix. So happy to hear this. The train to my childhood has arrived, and I'm going aboard. Anyone else want to join me on this adventure? - Fracus & Darwin - Classic Hardcore Underground Mix (#HUTenYears) (2016)
Hardcore Underground. Who doesn't know this label? If you are unaware of this label and you do not have a clue of who's behind it, do question yourself: are you a true Hardcore raver? Or a wannabe? Many labels have been presenting UK Hardcore over the nearly three decades, but only HU has stood the test of time. Well, at least for the last 13 years. Many labels have come and gone, but HU is still going strong. Maybe even stronger than ever? It's obviously a big label. Without a shadow of a doubt, they have given the Hardcore masses everything they were craving for. And on the label they've released a lot of tunes, from the likes of Brisk, Michael Mansion, Skinny, Chwhynny, Entity, Cube::Hard, Nu Foundation, and of course the two biggest superstars: Fracus and Darwin. Of these two legends you will find a lot of tunes in this mix. But what the most distinctive thing of this mix is: you will feel euphoric from the first to the last second. This showcase mix is true to the core: Hardcore for everyone. And boy, they do deliver! So many great memories, so many great anthems. Some underrated, but all so beautiful. And well composed! Let me show you the tracklist. It will make you happy and sad at the same time: just thinking about these tunes and how 'old' they are, makes you feel old. The oldest I found was from 2006. That's 13 years ago! My God, where has the time gone to? 01. Fracus & Darwin feat Lisa Abbott - Falling Out Of Love 02. DJ DFX & Darwin - At Last 03. Fracus & Darwin - Landed 04. Fracus & Darwin - Roar 39. Wasted Penguinz - Bitterness (Fracus & Darwin Remix) This is a well deserved decade for HU, and this showcase mix is something they should be proud of: not only have they had releases from the finest artists, but also they've been keeping their heads high for the last 13 years. Can you believe that? How many labels can you name within a minute which have been around for the last 10 years? And go! (ps. you can't) They seemed to have captured the Hardcore vibe since the early days, and have kept it alive and kicking. This melodic and euphoric sound is so unique, and has tried to die over the years, but labels such as HU kept it alive. And I do not know many other labels that do stay true to the roots of Hardcore/UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore. Hence why I really like and adore this mix! This brings a smile on my face, and also a tear. They do know how to make each and every track a successful one, and oh so beautiful. It's been a wicked decade for HU, and they will have many awesome years ahead of them. I can only give this mix a 5 out of 5. It's that good! No complaints. The whole mix is solid. Nothing wrong with them. Not one record I dislike. I truly think that in 50 years time HU will still be around and pushing Hardcore forward. And so it shall be! - Happy Hardcore Underground (Old School Mix) Bananaman & DJ Storm (2014)
Back in 2014 an album was released, and it had everyone hyped up. An all Happy Hardcore album, full of awesome classic anthems, and newer anthems. Or even classic anthems being remixed. Happy was the word that was their focus for this album, and they did not disappoint. Three discs, one unmixed, and two mixed by DJ Storm & Bananaman, DJ Vibes, and Chwhynny. What could possibly go wrong? Well, nothing, exactly. To promote this album, both Bananaman and DJ Storm (Al Storm) made this promo mix, containing the classics. And when I say classics, I do mean the classics. The reason why we all love Happy Hardcore!!! We all love to go back in time, and listen to these monster anthems. And who else should you ask to compose this mix? Bananaman and DJ Storm, they know the score. And they have done a marvellous job. This mix will make you tear up, and get them feels (as the kids would say). Proper old school vibes from the first to the last second. Sadly after the release of this album it has gone a bit quiet, the Happy Hardcore side of Hardcore Undergroud. They had some good releases, but a second instalment to this compilation has yet to emerge. I remember that, when they announced this album, people went mad. And seriously mad. Maybe it's time now to start a second instalment, HU? Let's focus on the this beautiful mix by Bananaman and DJ Storm. It will astonish you how many wicked anthems they both selected for this allround epic mix. And how many we actually know! Happy Hardcore wasn't just a phase, or something to be made fun of, it has laid the foundation for other styles to grow of, and it has got a cult following, even 20+ years later. 01. Evolve - Living The Dream This is a Happy Hardcore fanatics' wettest dream! Just looking at this tracklist makes everyone's downstairs department go moist. What a beauty, an absolute stunning mix. I've really enjoyed this nearly hour and a half long mix. This took me right back to my childhood. These tunes dominated my teenage years, and even in my mid-30s I'm still feeling the vibes. Again, I'm getting them feels. These anthems are from a long lost generation, and hearing them again just makes me smile for miles. This is impressive: other styles might still be alive and kicking, but whenever you talk about Happy Hardcore, you get a mixed response: some hated it, and some loved it. I was obviously part of this culture, and still love it to this day. And with me thousands of others. This mix has reached 39k plays already, and we should get the numbers higher and higher. DJ Storm and Bananaman's mix is just tight. I would have been disappointed if the mix was bad. But you wouldn't expect anything else from these two Happy Hardcore legends. Very good mixing skils, and the tracklist is just really ace. Best record of this mix? We had 31 to choose from, and I went for DJ Slipmatt's remix of 'Higher Love' by JDS. What a beast of an anthem. I feel like a kid immediately! That tunes (which was on Happy Hardcore volume 6 compilation by Arcade) was my favourite of all time, and still in 2019 I'm hooked to this tune. An all round epic mix. - The Purple Revolution [Stamina Records] (2019)
Does M@rt!n-J ever stop making these awesome mixes? I've impressed that he continues to upload awesome mixes on a regular basis, and it's not just one style or genre: he mixes whatever he wants to. This time he goes back to the Freeform sound, and especially to the greatest label in the scene: Stamina Records! This label has been pushing Freeform forwards since the dying day of NuEnergy. And they've been quite successful to be fair. Only quality tunes are released, and in this mix you will only find the best of the best. So what's in this mix? Simple: Stamina Records tunes. The finest. The ones you are notified about when you are a fan. You get e-mails from them on a regular basis, and in them, you are made aware of upcoming releases. So the records are from the finest producers in the scene: Substanced, Transcend, Digital Commandos, A.B, and more. The tracklist is a beauty, but the records are even better! These mixes make me extremely happy. Extremely happy. Freeform is so underrated, but there's no reason for it to be like that: it is quality music, well produced, and also a very happy family scene. Everyone knows each other, and when you go to a Freeform party, you are part of this culture. Stamina Records being the daddy of all labels: they are an unstoppable force. And who doesn't want to be part of this subculture, which is much better than all the mainstream cultures (that's my opinion by the way)? Let me show you this monster of a tracklist. And as an added bonus: free downloadable mix! Woop woop, that's always great to hear! 01. Transcend feat Zealous - The Promise 02. Digital Commandos - What The Radio Won't Play 03. DJ Neon - Tribute (A.B Remix) 04. Transcend - Planet One 05. Arkade - Greatest Adventure 06. A.B vs Ales & Dani Delirio - Arkesus 07. Digital Commandos - Still Dreaming 08. Substanced - Artificial Reality 09. Transcend - Archangel 10. Substanced - Oneiroi 11. Digital Commandos - Serious Shit 12. Substanced - The Killing 13. Digital Commandos - Future World 14. Substanced - Submission 15. Substanced - Heart Of Time (Kounta Kulture Remix) Look at this awesome tracklist! And if you are into Freeform, some kind of erection must occur. You must feel something in the downstairs department, which is this tingling feeling. Let yourself go, embrace that feeling. Do you know why this is happening? It's because Freeform is life! Freeform is epic. Freeform is porn. It's that good! Obviously the tracks being from the majestic label Stamina Records and the producers being the finest in the scene, you will not be disappointed. It's only M@rt!n-J's involvement which might change the outcome. But he does a brilliant job, and just makes this mix and the records stand out for miles. And to be fair: I've not seen a Freeform mix reach 1.6k plays in 10 hours! Normally it will take longer for those numbers to be reached, but not this one. Freeform is slowly getting recognition? Let's hope so. I've got no comments. Well, no negatives comment. As I would normally say: just download this and have a wonderful experience. Just listen to this, there's nothing else to it. You know it makes absolute sense. It's fucking Freeform, not shite pop music! This is quality music, and will only enlighten your current mood. Oh, the best record? Normally I have already shared it at this stage, but I shall do it now: 'The Killing' by Substanced. No competition with this absolute monster of a track! - Korsakoff - The Sound Of (2006)
Back in 2006 I was one of the thousands of youngsters who purchased this wonderful album. DJ Korsakoff's first debut album, containing records made by her and Catscan. That's a thing I never knew until a few years ago. It did have a specific sound that you could link to Catscan, but I never have done. I always thought it was her music. Especially when I bought this album. I never read stuff, so that's my luck, eh? She quickly grabbed the attention of the raving culture, and also the media. She appeared in a male magazine, I forgot what the name was, but I was a member of that too. Gosh, what was the name of it? It was a bit sleazy, looking at the magazine with 2019 goggles on, but at the time it was hot as hell. I was already in love with her music when I heard 'My Empty Bottle' and 'Stardom', but the magazine just added the mystery surrounding her DJ character. She was named the Queen of Hardcore very quickly, and to this day she is booked all over the world, and playing at the biggest events. From a pretty face to a permanent figure in the Hardcore scene. She might have done a lot for the Hardcore scene, and the female DJs and producers, but sorry Korsakoff, Lady Dana will always be my Queen. Well, let's focus on the album. The album was great. I really liked it. Unusual, to say the least. It did not sound like a proper Hardcore album, even though you would expect it to be. But it had certain records, which weren't Hardcore at all! According to Discogs the album has got Hardcore, Hardstyle, Electro, and Hard Trance as styles on it. It was (and still is) an album you might love, or you might hate. Listening to it 13 years after its release, it does become clear who had a huge influence in the project, and which side I am on. The tracklist, if you haven't Googled it already, or Discoged it. 01. Korsakoff - The Sound Of 02. Korsakoff - No Noctophobia 03. Korsakoff - Still Wasted 04. Korsakoff - City Patrol 05. Korsakoff - Best Friends (R Not 4Ever) 06. Korsakoff - Audioholic 07. Korsakoff - Powerrave 08. Korsakoff - Stardom (Thunderdome 2004 Anthem) (Mix 2) 09. Korsakoff - No Compassion 10. Korsakoff - Freedom Of Speed (Accelerate) 11. Korsakoff - My Empty Bottle 12. Korsakoff - Tokyodome Experience (Start The Fight) 13. Korsakoff - Pendeho (Simple Mix) 14. Korsakoff - -L = C2 (Trip Mix) I forgot all these anthems, and I completely forgot about this album, until earlier today! I went through my collection, and found it by accident/mistake. It's amongst the thousands of folder I've got. But I was curious enough to open the folder, and listen to them all! What a collection of weird and forgotten records. Yes, we all know 'My Empty Bottle', 'No Noctophobia', 'Still Wasted', but the ones I really like are the forgotten anthems, like 'Stardom', 'Tokyodome Experience', and the title song 'The Sound Of'? Who still plays these anthems? I think that they are underrated, and should be played at events nowadays. Not the standard Korsakoff stuff, but also the 'underground' sound that was created, and can clearly be heard on this album. It is full of surprises, and the main focus is Hardcore. But this albums has so much more. But would you appreciate this diverse album? Do you want Electro, Hardstyle, and Hard Trance, all jam packed on one album? I found it interesting, and really dig the album. Not the last record though. That's really not the highlight of this album. And 'Pendeho' is also not my favourite'. They have experimented with different sounds and styles, and sometimes it has worked, and for these two records it didn't. A sad ending to a good album. I'm on an Oldskool vibe right now, and really enjoying Korsakoff's album. Can't believe that it was released 13 years ago. I was 22 years old when this bad boy came out, still at college! And now I'm still a loser and reminisce to the good ol' days. And back in 2006, this album rocked. It has stood the test of time. Worth checking out, if you can find a copy somewhere. - Inspector Sands - Can't Stop Promo Mix 2 (2016)
Three years ago an album was released so good, it became my favourite Breakbeat Hardcore album of all time! Of course I'm talking about Inspector Sands' 'Can't Stop' album. The truly amazing album was delivered to my house as a present from my girlfriend, and it was signed by the master himself. Even though the album is now 3 years old, I still stand by my comments from 2016 and say that it's one amazing album! I've not heard or seen anything from Inspector Sands since. Which is a shame, because the album was a smashing album. Not only was it full of his own stuff, but it also included remixes by Fracus & Darwin, Luna-C and Chriss Ross, and it also had collaborations with CLSM and Hattrixx. To promote the album back in 2016, two mixes were uploaded, two that I still listen to in 2019. And they still make me feel happy. Breakbeat at its best. Even though you might not have heard of this album before today, you are still able to get the album. And I urge you to do exactly that. You can get it via Bandcamp, if you click here Let's focus on the second promo mix, made by DJ Remixx. It does not contain all the records, it contains much more (well, you'll find out). Worth your time, really it is! 01. Zedd feat Hayley Williams - Stay The Night (CLSM & Inspector Sands Remix) 02. Inspector Sands - What A Rush 03. Inspector Sands - Feel The Heat (Exclusive Album Mix) 04. Inspector Sands - Lay My Beatz 05. Inspector Sands - Did I Dream 06. Inspector Sands - Hard Daze (KFA Version) 07. Inspector Sands - Rippin Up Showz (Dubplate Intro Mix) 08. Inspector Sands - I Call Your Name (Original Mix) 09. Inspector Sands - I Call Your Name (Fracus & Darwin Remix) 10. Inspector Sands - Can't Stop 11. Inspector Sands - Can't Stop (Luna-C Remix) 12. Inspector Sands - You Think You Know Me 13. Inspector Sands - Motivader 14. Inspector Sands - Superfly 15. Inspector Sands - Superfly (Chris Ross Remix) Wow. But before we delve into sheer madness, I need to address one thing: the best Breakbeat records I've EVER HEARD! Yes, that's right, you've read it correctly. It's the best of the best, and I've not come across anything this good after the album's release. 'Can't Stop'. Remixed by Luna-C. My Sweet LORD! What an anthem! I've not heard a record this good before, or since. The original is 'so so', but Luna-C's version takes the whole Breakbeat scene, and just throws it in the bin! With this record he has shown me that he still rules the Breakbeat scene, and knows how to make a smashing record. This is epic on each and every level, and the build up is just tremendous! Even the drops are just beyond belief! And when you think it's over, it hits you again, over and over! I've got only good feelings about this track, and get goosebumps whenever I hear it. Obviously in this mix a shorter version was played, but if you purchase the album, you get 5 minutes and 21 seconds of pure Breakbeat porn. That's it. Porn. Lovely and sexy porn. Fuck me, this record is good. Astonishingly good. Inspector Sands, your album was excellent anyway, but this record just smashing it out of the park (is that how you would say it?). This review could literally become a 'one song' review. 'Can't Stop' is just epic. A monster. Underrated. Majestic in every way. You need to get this album. Why the fuck are you waisting your time, it's only £10. The rest of the mix is good too! DJ Remixx's mix is just spot on. I love the fact that he starts with an epic remix by Inspector Sands and CLSM of Zedd and Hayley Williams' song. The vibe continues throughout the rest of the mix (until it hits that fantastic records, and you get endowed by pure euphoria). No complaints whatsoever. You see, I can only give this mix 5 out of 5 stars. It's also free to download, so hurry up: you've got a few tasks ahead. Purchasing this album and downloading this epic mix. - Gas Op D'n Basstape Vol. 1 (2015)
I am originally from Limburg. And if you've never been to the Netherlands, you might not know this province. It must be around 200 km down South from Amsterdam (to all those who do not do their research, and only know Amsterdam). In Limburg we do love to party, especially during our national Carnaval. If you've not been to Limburg around Carnaval, you are missing out on a lot. Yes, it involves a lot of drinking, putting on weird costumes, and funny hoompapa music (or however you spell it). I've outgrown this bit in my life, but when I was younger, carnaval was everything! It was the only time of the year to look out for. It's a festive period for everyone, young or old. During the day you would have kiddie carnaval parades, and in the evening/night you would see adults going absolutely bonkers on booze. For me it was Flugel, the majestic drink, that kept me going. During the 90s I was all hyped up for carnaval, even though I did not put a lot of effort in my costumes. I was there. Mostly in Valkenburg, Heerlen and Maastricht. And boy, I have been waisted for most days. To be fair, the music was always crap. Seeing as I'm from Limburg, I should speak the regional dialict, but seeing as I can't, I could not sing a long, but after 15 pints of beer and a lot of shots, you literally would not care. But music progresses, and now it's at this stage where the EDM world is getting involved. Not exactly, but they have implemented a lot of sounds from the EDM world into the carnaval sound. And this mixtape I'm about to show you has done exactly that. If this was played during my carnaval days, I reckon I would not have lived passed 21. I would have drunken myself to death, and partied too damn hard. Carnaval. I might have outgrown it, but the quirkiness still gets me. So when I heard this mixtape by Vollen Sjas, a smile was put on my face. And if you are not Dutch, this might seem to be a bit too weird. Well, we are Dutch, we are constantly high, live in windmills, and rave with clogs on. 01. Vollen Sjas - Intro 02. Tsunami - Vollensjas Mashup 03. Lamme Frans - Wakker Met Een Biertje (Vollen Sjas Remix) 04. Rob Ronalds - Ons Frans Is Vrijgezel (Vollen Sjas Remix) 05. Ummet Ozcan - Smash (Vollen Sjas Duo Penotti Mashup) 06. Snollebollekes - Vrouwkes (Vollen Sjas Remix) 07. FeestDJRuud - Gas Op Die Lollie (Vollen Sjas Remix) 08. Snollebollekes - Snollebolleke (Vollen Sjas Mashup) 09. Maarten - Jij Bent Zo (Vollen Sjas Remix) 10. Danny van Loon - 400 Liter (Vollen Sjas Mashup) 11. Wild Motherfuckers - Wild Wild West (Vollen Sjas Mashup) Carnaval is all about having fun, and within this 32 minute long mix, you will experience fun. Is it quality music, or music you would appreciate when you are getting a tad drunk, or already passed the stage of being drunk as f**k? Fun, that's the magic word. I've been living in the UK for a while now, and I have missed out on everything that has happened in the carnaval scene, but it looks much more interesting now. I've been hunting down several mixes on Soundcloud, and they all seem to have this Freestyle vibe surrounding them. No more Germanic influences, but more Dutch influences. A bit of Hardstyle here and there does not hurt anyone. I've not heard of Vollen Sjas before, but his mix was really entertaining. Cheesefest from the start, but that's the magical part of carnaval: we do not take ourselves seriously. There is an obvious battle between Limburg and Brabant, who is more carnaval (obviously the Limburgers), but besides that there's no politics involved, or religion. Put your weirdest mask on, put some money in your pocket, and go ape. Who needs to see A'dam when you can see true party animals show you what we do best? The tunes were ok, not quality, but funny enough to get me moving. Cheesy as f**k. And I'm hooked on it now. You should check it out, right NOW! And book your next trip to the Netherlands during carnaval. You know it makes sense. - Air Max Day Mix by Amada (2016)
Air Max. The type of sneakers the Gabber culture embraced during the 90s, and this hype is still linked to the gabbers in 2019. They've been an important factor in our culture, and are always associated with us, ravers. You weren't part of the gang/hype if you didn't have Nikes. Especially Air Maxes. And I had a pair when I grew up, so hyped up about the colour combination, but 1 1/2 size too small. Went to many raves in them, and they've seen a lot of things, and nearly killed my toes. But you had to, you see. Gabbers and Air Maxes went hand in hand. Back in 2016 Amada made this wonderful mix for the Thunderdome Soundcloud page, and recently I re-discovered it. Already wrote a review about it, but I felt it was necessary to remind all of you lot of this mix. Why, you might ask? Well, because the mix is sick! Don't actually know if there's a legitimate Air Max day, but nowadays we celebrate everything: secretary day, national pumpkin day, King's day... you name it, and it has an 'official' day linked to it. So I guess Air Maxes must have their own day? Whatever floats your boat. If you don't like Air Maxes, are you actually a raver? Have you ever owned a pair? I remember going to a shoe store in the South of the Netherlands (Limburg), buying shoes that looked a lot like Nike's, but were a tad cheaper. I quickly got tapped on the shoulder by the community, and was made aware of it. I started saving money to buy the real deal, and once I got them, I raved. Raved until I couldn't go any further, Air Maxes are as important as the actual music. The hipsters might use them for running (=boring), but true ravers will use them to pound the ground underneath their feet for hours on end. And by the end of it, it might be covered in thousands of liters of alcoholic beverages, mud, and you name it (even piss, when you are drunk you dribble down the incorrect way, you might have spillage). In 2018 I got my first white set of Air Maxes, and have worn them with pride. Hell, I think I'm going to wear them today, out of respect to Amada's mix, and our never dying culture. Let's focus on the mix. It's dope. It's 3 years old, but the same as Air Maxes: it never grows old. Obviously not like us humans: I already feel like I am 45, and I'm only 35. Nike's and Hardcore keep me young. 01. The Opposites feat Sef - Me Nikes 02. Yellow Claw & The Opposites - Thunder (Evil Activities & E-Life Remix) 03. Korsakoff - Tamara 04. DJ Paul Elstak - Still Luv U More (The Viper Remix) 05. Unexist & OGM909 - Guns Blazing 06. Marshall Masters - Don't Touch That Stereo (Maniac's Hard Edit) 07. AniMe - Terrordome #TiH 08. The Viper & Neophyte - First Aid 09. The Viper & Re-Style feat Diesel - Night & Day 10. Korsakoff - Somnia 11. The Viper & Panic - Lean On Bootleg 12. Nosferatu - Sanctity Of Space 13. Bodyshock - Communicate 14. Evil Activities - Go Fuck Yourself 15. Neophyte Records All Stars - Adrenaline 16. Skrillex feat Ragge Twins - Ragga Bomb (Art Of Fighters Bootleg) (DJ Mad Dog Re-Edit) 17. Drokz - Brand New Kickz 18. Noize Suppressor & Drokz - Fingers In The Air Absolute epic mix. Amada's mix is really doing the Air Max culture proud, and is a testimony to our dying love for raving. And you can use your Air Maxes throughout this mix, just to show you love to Hakkuh. I have listened to this mix over and over, and I'm really a happy bunny after hearing it again and again. Especially when it starts with the mix starts with two epic records. Yes, in my first review I mentioned that I wasn't digging the 'Thunder' anthem, but I fell in love with it over the years. Obviously The Opposites and Yellow Claw aren't Gabbers, but this remix does the culture justice. And also 'Me Nikes'. But that's just a nod to the Nike wearing raver. And the tune was actually funny. What's the best record of this mix? 'Sanctity Of Space' by Nosferatu. When it comes to melodies, you know that Nosferatu has got your back, and knows how to create epic monster anthems. And it also has space bits in it. I love space travelling, so it ticks all my boxes. Who doesn't love Hardcore? Who doesn't love Nikes? If you don't answer yes to either questions, I am wondering: why are you even reading this review? This is only for the die-hard mother fucking ravers. Those that travelled millions of miles in their well beloved shoes, to rave throughout the night. That's us. That will always be us. That's one thing they can't take away from us. Hardcore till I die. - TCD Top 5 26-07-2019
This re-occurring feature is back! Have you missed it? If you have, you are the only one. But hey ho, let's talk about music instead of me focussing on myself and asking for self pity. Music is much more important, and this week I've found a few amazing records. And guess what? They are not what you are expecting of me. Well, maybe one record I had to add, because it's one big anthem at the moment. But the others are obscure, underground, or just filthy records. We've gone hard this week, no rock, pop, or anything soft. TCD loves his music hard, so to choose these few is an obvious choice. Please be advised that a few of these records are using the Dutch language as their lyrics, so you might not understand the meaning behind it. I do apologise for this. But I'm still Dutch, and have an orange heart until the day I die. So sometimes I've got to go back to my roots, and have a laugh and giggle. Especially when the songs are so dumb, they become classic anthems! Here's my top 5 of today! Hope to see you around when the next top 5 is presented! 1. STTRBSTN - Steeds Verrassend Altijd Voordelig (Kruidvat Fissastyle Tool) (2018) 2. Ome Riesch - Een Beetje Spuug (Dokter Janssen Remix) (2017) 3. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz x Sleazy - Piep Kicks (2019) 4. Transcend & Cyrax - Follow Me (2018) 5. Headhunterz feat Sian Evans - Orange Heart (2019)
- Charlotte de Witte @ Ultra Miami 2019 (Carl Cox x Resistance Stage)
Charlotte de Witte. My new number 1 superstar DJ. As I call her, the beast from Belgium. And the reason for this rather unusual name? Well, the music she plays is demonic, and she takes no prisoner. Always on spot when it comes to mixing, and she devours records like I've not seen before. Trust me, it's a positive nickname. She came, she saw, she conquered. She is now one of the biggest DJs in the whole world. And she's capable to stand her ground, and demolish everything in front of her. The last couple of days I've been hooked to everything Charlotte related. I've been on Youtube and Soundcloud, and have listened to many hours of her performing in the snow, in the scorching heat, basically everywhere. I'm amazed by what she's capable of. Her sets do speak to me, and I just love her enthusiasm and passion. You can tell that she's enjoying herself, and she knows it. Not one to raise her hands every 15 seconds and shout down a microphone that she's got a new collaboration, but she is focussed. Extremely focussed. And moves her hair out of her face every 15 seconds. But besides that, she's determined to make each set work, wherever she plays. This year she played at Ultra Miami, and she nailed it. Her set got reduced due to massive flight delays from Montreal to Miami, but those 47 minutes she's on stage, she absolutely plays her finest set so far. Trust me, I've watched/listening to a lot of her sets, and this is really a fantastic one. At first the crowd does make a lot of noises, but are more focussed on them being live on Instagram and Facebook, but once Charlotte grabs them by their throats, she doesn't let go, and they all become obsessed/possessed by this Belgian Techno Queen. Normally I would focus on Soundcloud sets, but seeing as the Youtube video is truly wicked, I would like you to see her in action. She's got the skills, and determination. I'm really in awe with the way she mixes. No fucking about, occassionally a smile here and there, but that's it: music is the main focus. Good choice, to be fair. Who needs to throw cakes or have a pre-recorded set when you can actually deliver an awesome set, and take the crowd to the next level? Here's the tracklist. 01. Anetha - Return Ticket 02. Fatima Haji - Taking Over (AnGy KoRe Remix) 03. Rita Gherz - Madness 04. Coyu - Practical Disorder Compulsory (Coyu Raw Mix) 05. Eats Everything - Space Raiders (Charlotte de Witte Remix) 06. Cutout - Heat (Bruce Remix) 07. Dave Simon - Stripes Of Soden (TWCOR Remix) 08. DJ Skull - Acid Wiss L 09. Alex Bilancini - Oblivion 10. Charlotte de Witte - This 11. Sebastian Groth - Snow Leopard (Gary Burrows Remix) As I said before, and I'll say it again: Charlotte is just seriously impressive. Her skills are easy to get addicted to, and the way she delivers the music is just beautiful. She makes me smile, and not actually care about the world around me. And, let's not forget: the tracks she used for this set are just strong and powerful. When I heard this set for the first time, it made me happy. And sad at the same time. I've never had the opportunity to see/hear her live, but I was happy that this set was recorded, and I can enjoy it whenever, wherever. That's the beauty of the internet. Her set is 45 minutes long, and she just devours the crowd. I've got only credit for this Queen of Techno. No negative feedback, no mixing issues, no shite records. Everything is just picture perfect. But I would not have expected anything less from this future 'number 1' DJ in the world. I just love the fact that she is having fun and is focussed at the same time. She deserves the world and everything in it! Go and check her set out, if you haven't already! Best record? The record that is played at 31 minutes. God, that record is filth, pure filth. - Promo @ Q-Base 2018 - Thunderdome
Q-Base 2018. The last Q-Base ever. Well, maybe for now, maybe they come back in 5 years. But whatever might happen in the near future, it has not been organised this year. Last year Q-Dance closed the chapter, and went out with a bang. With 9 areas and a truckload full of artists they made sure that the party goers would have the night out of their lives. And in the Thunderdome area they had a few amazing artists, like Waxweazle, Vince, Predator, Nosferatu, Evil Activities, I:gor, and more. And also DJ Promo, the one who's set I've found on Soundcloud. The party goers voted for this event being 'excellent'. And just judging the line-up for not only the Thunderdome area but all the others too, and its massive history (Q-Base over the years have gained a massive following of fans), their last event must have been one you should have gone to. I'm sitting here, not been there, and I'm regretting not going. I'm missing out on a lot of amazing and epic parties. And who doesn't want to go to an event where DJ Promo is playing? His set was an hour and a half long. A 'normal' size set for me. Those short half hour/hour long set is good, but you cannot explore the DJ's strength and cannot venture into multiple dimensions. Short sets always gives you only one sound, and longer sets allows the artists to go mad, in a good way. Expect nothing less from Promo. His set contains 42 records, and you will smile when you see the tracklist. He dug deep into his collection, and played not only his own stuff, but other amazing classic records. Just see the tracklist, and you know why this is ace! 01. Promo - Lord Of Undow 02. Promo & X-ess - Vicious Circle 03. Promo - I Come Correct 04. DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Hardcore Rules The World 05. Endymion - Pussy Mutherfuckerz (D-Fence Remix) A bit of the old, a bit of the very old, and a few new records. That's in short what is in his set. And when I'm talking old, just look at 'The First Rebirth'. Now that's a classic! And new? 'Lord Of Undow'. Well, it's not made yesterday, but also not 24 years ago. Anyway, this set is full of nostalgia. And that's what you need when you play on the Thunderdome stage. I have to say that back in 98 I witnessed Promo killing Mysteryland, giving it another hole (tearing another one). And I've always been following his musical career. He had his ups and downs, but the majority of the records he has made have always pleased me. Even the 2010 sound (which has a lot of the early 2000s in it) pleases me. Promo knows how to deliver a record so distinctively Promo-ish, it creates good vibes. And during his hour and a half set, he delivers. Just look at the tracklist: a true raver will start to dribble. It's that good. And to include all time classics is just amazing. But the last few Promo sets have been hit or miss. Even his actual Thunderdome set from 2017 (I think it was 2017, when he played 'throughout' the Thunderdome years?) was a miss. But other sets are just spot on. With this set at the last Q-Base he does deliver, and with a few mixing errors it's so far my favourite DJ Promo set of all time. Or is Mysteryland 1998's the best? The records selected are amazing. Even the Industrial Hardcore ones. He just delivers, and knows how to build a set (start off slow, end with a brutal ending). Best record has got to be 'Brother Of Conflict', simply because this record remains in your head, long after it has finished. A good set. Really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. And so should you! - Carl Anscombe - Life After Love (2019)
Folk music. Not something I usually review, and not something I go out and look for on Soundcloud or other platforms. Not disliking it, but it's not my main focus. Sometimes I just need a push in the right direction, and that's exactly what happened a few days ago. The artist in question who notified me of his album is this UK singer/songwriter Carl Anscombe. His debut album was released in January 2019 and is called 'Life After Love'. This pop/rock album contains 9 records, written by Carl and you can hear him sing on each of them. And it's different to the kind of music you normally see here on TCD. But we are open minded, and gave Carl Anscombe's album a chance. But should you? I have to come clean here: I have not heard of him before. Not seen or heard anything before, and even though I'm a Soundcloud junkie, it did not appear on my timeline. But sometimes you want to wake up and hear something completely different. That box got ticked this morning. It was a nice way of waking up on this Saturday morning. But what's the album about? Well, the songs are about several different topics, including depression, love, or more likely, life after love (hence where the title comes from). Does that make the content of this album loaded? Well, it's not an all happy and uplifting album, but it's all about the message of each song. Does it deliver? Before we talk about that, let me show you the tracklist: 01. Carl Anscombe - Life After Love 02. Carl Anscombe - I don't Mind 03. Carl Anscombe - Dream About 04. Carl Anscombe - Take A Walk With Me 05. Carl Anscombe - Paradise 06. Carl Anscombe - Ain't No Drake 07. Carl Anscombe - Depression 08. Carl Anscombe - Set Me Free 09. Carl Anscombe - Dear You The album is only 29 minutes long, and if you like the records, you can get this album from all the known platforms, from Tidal to Spotify to whatever you get your music from. It's not what I'm used to. I had to re-listen to get the message, and understand what Carl wanted to say. It's something that does hit hard, especially 'Despression'. Currently my mindset isn't the best, and even though I'm taking medication, the word is loaded to me. But my love life is absolutely perfect, so no worries for me. You can hear a reoccurring theme throughout the album. Can you figure it out? I love his mellow voice, and the music is soothening as well. The song lyrics are loaded, but if that's what you are looking for, Carl has got your covered. There is a bit on this album I do not get. 'Ain't No Drake'. Well, he said it himself. But his voice does not suit the rapping bits. His voice is more for the music that he uses for the other 8 tracks. But rap is not suitable, doesn't suit him. Maybe this song is to underline that exactly? In general I liked the album. Still have to get used to the styles he's using. But in general it's a nice album. Best record is 'Set Me Free'. Worst? Well, I think I already have that covered. I think that you should give Carl's album a chance. Give it a go, and see what you think. I liked it, and it wasn't over the top, it wasn't too much, it blended it nicely with the atmosphere in our house now. But would I go and search for this? Not me personally, because these genres are not my favourite. But if you like those, you should check it out. You know what to do, right?
